Alternatives To Depakote

I've been on depakote six months and previously a year. It gives me the shakes and makes me zombie-like at times. I want to talk to my doctor about alternatives. Does anybody have any ideas of what else I could try? My diagnosis is bipolar. Thanks.

Many of the medications used to treat bipolar disorder can cause such things as side effects, so it's really a matter of trial and error to find what works for you, without causing them so severely.

i am 62 , recently my Psychiatric tripled Depakote even with only my little irritation against my ex wife who provoked me , so I took Depakote for 2 months and I've gained 15 Kg / 33 lbs so i told to my Psychitric to stop Depakote, and he were Ok but I still take DEPAKOTE on the morning 1 pink pill but i hate Depakote because of my weight which is raising and I can't live like that so my question there's another Medecins which could be used VS Depakote and no secondary effects?
