Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine; which actually has weight loss and loss of appetite listed as side effects.

I can only assume that people gain weight on it because they don't know how hungry they are, or they may think that they are starving themselves due to the loss of appetite and therefore start binge eating on foods they shouldn't be eating anyways.

I would just go off of how "YOU" feel while taking it, because everyone responds differently to these types of medications. I'm sure the vast majority of patients who post something bad about the drug are among only a small percentage of those who take it.

HI
My friend just passed away due to the use of epitec. It caused Stephen Johnston syndrome, ans she was hospitalized. She had a rash that grew worse every day and it ate her flesh away. Her heart stopped for a few times, she was on life support for a while, her body was aching so badly that they had to change her dressing under anestethic. She just got worse and worse, her body was shutting down by the day and now she's just gone. I cannot believe that they prescibe this medicine... It can kill you

I am on Epitec 25mg x 2 per day and have not gained weight. Actually, I have lost. So maybe it is only a small percentage of users who maybe for other reasons are gaining weight. I am a 47 year old male and don't know whether that makes a difference. However, I used to be overweight but that is because whilst depressed I binged on carbs and sugar. Epitec has helped me to live with Biopolar 2 and after 2 months on it, I was able to stay healthy by eating according to the Paleo diet. Generally, my life has improved a lot. I believe that everybody reacts differently and one should trial and error until the right medication is found. I am only on Epitec and Modafinil. I am happy and in control again of my life. Wish you all the same.
