Zolpidem Generic (Page 9) (Top voted first)
UpdatedALL CVS pharmacies just changed the zolpidem from MYLAN manufacturer (out of PA) to TORRENT in India. Because generics can certain behave differently, I am nervous about taking the (10 mg) oblong peach Torrent brand one after reading some things online. I also don't like the idea of CVS using from out of the country manufacturer which HAS to be due to a better price because MYLAN brand is still very readily available. Any comments?
CVS and Walgreens sometimes have the 5mg Qualitest. 10mg Qualitest seems to be in plentiful supply. My doctor rewrote the prescription for 10 mg qualities and I cut the pills. Works great.
CVS tried to order the 5mg qualities in January and found out it was back ordered. Apparently Qualitest has a manufacturing cycle on all their medications and has just starting making the 5mg again.
Torrant 5mg works almost as good for me as the Qualitest and is available at CVS.
I learned to check the local pharmacies to see what they have in stock before I see my doctor for the new prescription. It's easier and the doctor appreciates that.
I too have been given the new Zolpidem at CVS. The previous one was manufactured by Qualitest made in the U.S. The new one is made in India and I have had a terrible reaction to it. Qualitest does not make their drug any more. I would like to fill a prescription for this drug, but not the one made in India. Anyone can help?
Torrent works well for me. Teva did not work fast enough.
Torrent zolpidem is very good. As good or better than any I have taken. The Qualitest is also very good.
Please tell me the name and location of your pharmacy. Every pharmacy that I have called tells me that Qualitest does not make 10mg Zolpidem anymore. This is the only generic that has worked for me.
If I ask my doctor to write my script as BRAND only, will insurance honor it?
It depends on your insurance plan AND the amount that you arei willing to pay. For example, I just investigated this and it appears that Sanofi Ambien 10 mg is not on my companies formulary, So, I if appeal this, at the very best it will be placed on the formulary as a tier 4, whereas the generic version is a tier 2, This means that I would have to pay about $200 for a 30 day supply of brand drug vs. about $3 for the generic. I have found a temporary solution is taking 15 mg of the Torrent generic (you can break them in half, whereas the Teva version will not break).
This will present some other problems, as I am not sure if I can get more than 30 pills per month.
It is indeed too bad that the Qualtest version is not longer manufacturered, as that was truly "the real thing" even though it was branded as a generic. I suspect that Sanofi used to manufacture it for them, but perhaps their agreement fell apart.
I was told that the lavender pill is Mylin. It might as well be caffeine pill. I went for two months on that pill without sleep. Then Kaiser gave me the peach colored round pill and I slept like a baby. Now- I just got the lavender pill again- and I was up all night again- that pill is USELESS.
I agree with you on Mylan generic.
Not all generics work period.
I recently tried a "blind" comparison over 4 days. I have a supply of Torrent 10mg and Qualtest 10mg. Pills are identical in shape but peach vs. White. Ended up sleeping much better (did not get up during the night) when I took Qual test version ) Unfortunately no longer manufactured by them.
What state is this and what pharmacies of Virginia carry the Mylan brand zolpidem tartrate?
Hi i wanna know ive taken 2 white round ambiens earlier can i take half of a round purple one now? please someone tell me
It does not work. I wish it did. Mylan, Teva and others have worked for me. This not at all.
Mylan did not work for me. I really had some difficulty getting to sleep.the Teva version did not work at all.
On the other hand, Torrent gets me to sleep eventually BUT I am not that sharp when I awake.
if someone else finds another generic manufacturer other than Mylan, Torrent or Teva, please post.
My insurance will not approve brand Ambien (Sanofi)
.
I just don't like the sound of it. I've taken generic everything for a long time, various generics of the same drug, i.e. Valium, Xanax, anti-depressants, etc. Mylan(r) is generally the generic I get but depending on what drug store. I haven't used CVS in a few years, but they had some generics that were the same shape as the brand. Just a personal thing, I prefer the original shape if they're not going to pay for the brand name. (I get everything free now.)
Curious. How long has it been and are they working?
I also, have been on Ambien for a long time '- at least 15 years. This is a similar situation for me, being highly frustrated that Qualtest is no longer available. After trying all of the recent generics, only Torrent 10 MG works, but still does not give me the restful sleep that Qualtest and previous generics (also no longer available) have provided. If anyone reading this board encounters a newer generic, other than Teva, Mylan or Torrent PLEASE post the name and I will try it with the next script refill.
I am not sure if Northstar still manufactures the generic as my pharmacy did not offer it to me when I tried the other generics.
BTW, you may have some success with a generic that is the ER version of Ambien. I am not sure what the maximum strength in the ER version is but I had tried the lower strength ER and it was not successful for me, that us why the 10 MG regular version worked best.
The only strength of the CR is 12.5. I found that the regular helped me fall asleep much quicker than the CR. It could just be me. My problem with how the medication will work is that longer I'm awake after taking it, the harder it is to get to sleep. I take a regular 10mg, I'm asleep within the hour, usually within 30 minutes. With the CR, and this was regularly, I would still be awake 3 hours later. I have absolutely no explanation except when I changed my Part D in January, they wouldn't pay for the CR. In hindsight, it was a blessing. First I tried Rozeram and that was a waste of time. I know you're not suppose to, especially with a hypnotic, take more than 10. I found I was nightly taking 2 of the Rozeram. Come to find out, Rozeram isn't even a hypnotic like Ambien. Why can't they just prescribe the good, old fashioned Seconal or, better yet, Tuinal.
Torrent is the best one for me. I avoid all the others. Finding it is the big concern.
Not all generic drugs are equal. I for one know that I have tried the Northstar and the Teva and some of the other ones and I like the Qualitest for it works for me when the others do not. I am a nurse and I work days & nights and need it to help me sleep. I currently have the Teva, don't waste your money! It is also from out of the country. As to where the Qualitest is from right here in the US I am calling them tomorrow to see where I can find it locally. I know super 1 foods can order it but here is the company information:
Qualitest Pharmaceuticals,
130 Vintage Drive
Huntsville, AL 35811
Phone: (800) 444-4011
I heard that Qualitest does not make generic Ambien anymore. I used to take it. It was the best, but have not been able to get it anymore. If you find it, let me know.
