My Dr is no longer allowed to write for zanx, yet I have to fills left. Due to the change of dr the pharmacy won't fill! I already discussed weening off them & why I'm on such low does& have not even taken it unless can't sleep & or having anxiety(both happens few times week) Can they just stop it? I thought you have to ween off them.
So guess questions is more of why a Dr would no longer be able to write & if was written prior(just 4 weeks ago) & what to fo

Yes, they can just stop, unless you are in immediate life-threatening danger, no doctor is obligated to treat you, or prescribe anything. I am not saying it's right, but that is what U.S. federal law currently states.
As to why they can no longer prescribe it, or will no longer prescribe it, the only person who could give you a definitive answer is that doctor. They may have gotten in trouble for improper prescribing, or over prescribing, or they may just not want to deal with the scrutiny that comes with continuing to prescribe medications that are controlled substances, since the DEA and government keeps track of all such prescriptions.
The FDA does warn that a sudden withdrawal can create a risk of seizures, so it you experience any problems, you should seek immediate medical attention, until you can find a new doctor.
