yes, the dose is the same, regardless of manufacturer. However,this is my example of why I disagree: is a Nissan EXACTLY the same as a Chevrolet? They are both automobiles, yes, so in one aspect they are the exact same thing. After much research, I have found that some xanax is "cleaner"...because that company used less inactive ingredients, or "fillers". One was actually sodium laurel sulphate. Nasty.

BTW, quit snorting your benzos. None of them are water soluble in pill form, so they don't pass through your mucus membrane like coke or heroin does, so it doesn't go straight to your brain. It just drips down your throat and takes longer to get absorbed into your small intestine where all BZ meds get absorbed. (You have twice as many GABA receptors in your small intestine than in your brain). Fastest, (safest) way to get them working quicker is on an empty stomach and disolved under your tongue, (like Suboxone). Or chew them. Yes, Xanax taste like crap, but that's a small price to pay for a faster onset. The only water soluble ones are the liquid versions, made for I.V.ing, that are kept in hospital E.R's, nursing homes, etc. to get agitated patients calm a.s.a.p. Whoever thinks they work better by snorting are living in "placebo-land". Anyone ever read the results from a med study? Some get the real drug and others get a sugar pill, yet some of the ppl on the placebo still get some relief from whatever the real drug is suppose to be helping with even though it's fake. The brain is a powerful thing.

Had never layed eyes on the Mylan generic zannies til today, had mostly receieved the nasty tasting quilitest one (the yellow bars) just filled Mylan A4's today and I just took one, about 30 mins ago and I'd say they work pretty well, altho they do seem to be making me a bit more drowsy then the other ones, of course I chewed it first before I swallowed it and im sure it kicked in quicker because of that. I don't take them everyday, in fact I'm only presribed 20 of them every 90 days because I take Buspar daily (for those of u who dont know what that is, it is a non-addictive, non- benzo anti-anxiety) a lot of ppl don't like Buspar but believe me, it works, it just takes about 2-3 wks to get built up in your system. I am only given 2mg zannies for when I get an intense panic attack. I prefer it this way for sure, since I DO NOT want to deal with benzo wd's... I have a friend whos been on five 1mg zannies daily for 8 years (she has a terrible backwoods hick doctor whos been giving them to her since she 16 and now she cannot even live a functional life without them) One time she had her prescription stolen from her purse at a bar and thought she may be able to go without them for a week til she went back to her doctor and she had a like 2 petit and one grand mal within 4-5 days! I have also seen other people get seizures from not having them, so if a doc ever cuts u off for any reason (which any doc with any heart or a brain would not do that cuz they know benzo wd's can kill u), and u have been taking them daily for a while, then seek medical attention cuz u could have a seizure and possible really hurt urself or others around u if ur driving when u seize. Anywho, I think I like the bars a tiny bit better but these mylan a4s are certainly pretty close to bars... theres my shtick! lol Hope it helps some of you..

VALIUM is a brand made by Hoffmann la Roche of Basel, Switzerland. It was the original brand name registered & patented as diazepam, for which 'Valium' was their trade name, was discovered & developed by a team of Roche employees led by Prof Dr Leo Sternbach; it was the 2nd benzodiazepine discovered after chlordiazepoxide, which Roche marketed under trade name LIBRIUM. The DIAZEPAM you used made by Mylan (which I consider to be amongst the poorest quality medications I have ever had - worse than some Pakistani counterfeits) can not be called VALIUM which can ONLY be used for Roche's product, just as 'Xanax' is Pfizer/Upjohn's brand of alprazolam and can not be used to describe any generic alprazolam by any other company. I have noticed so often that many posters here, sho ALL turn out to be American, use registered trade names when describing a generic when they ought to use the INN, the actual name of the DRUG and not the BRAND NAME. If you say 'Valium' you are talking of the Roche product. Mylan make generic DIAZEPAM and ALPRAZOLAM of a quality which would not be deemed acceptable for sale in Europe, so poor are they. Mylan's ex-Merck Generics products, not made in the USA, are certainly acceptable and their alprazolam (STOP CALLING IT XANAX) is rather good at a very competitive price; compared with Xanax, for which my pharmacy charges €21 per box oc 50 x 1mg, the Mylan generic, an unmarked light blue ovoid tablet, costs €12 for 50. I hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which reduces the price to around 10% of that so 50 x European made ex-Merck GOOD Mylan would cost me the equivalent of $0.98. As for the US-made Mylan alprazolam & Diazepam, I think they are fit for nothing more than flushing down a lavatory for all the good they would do. The diazepam in particular is absolute garbage which really should not be permitted to be sold; we evaluated some along with many other generics at the University of Glasgow, & although claimed to be 10mg, not a single tablet contained more than 8mg diazepam. Which would make them illegal here. But my point is really PLEASE CAN WE STOP USING REGISTERED AND PATENTED TRADE NAMES WHEN REFERRING TO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TABLETS/CAPSULES WHICH ARE MADE BY OTHER COMPANIES AND USE THE INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED NAME OF THE DRUG UNDER DISCUSSION? PLEASE? Thank you.

Jeff: 4 x 0.25 mg = 1 mg ... 2 x Mylan A4 = 4 mg

So you would be taking in a total of 5 mg Alprazolam. This is more than double a normal dose. You should definitely proceed with caution and ensure that you follow the directions of the medication which you have been prescribed.

I got the Mylan 4a tables withe the lines on the back that divide it into four sections... I like em... I uised to take the bars from mexicoi which were my favorite.. but these seem all right... I feel relaxed.. and yes, 2mgs alprozolam Mylans are the same exact ingredient as any bars manufactured in the U,.S. Damn Ive hade sime indian pex2s that were awsome.. just dont over analyze so much and let it relive ur anxiety..

In the USA, the FDA regulates the "bioequivalence" of a generic drug against the original formula, once the patent runs out, historically, about 17 years since its introduction, but there are some exceptions, a pharma firm can sell the license earlier, or, have the FDA, in rare cases, extend the patent, from 6 months, (as Sanofi did with Ambien in 2006/2007) as Roche did with their Valium, released in 1963, expired in 1980, but Roche got a extention on the USA patent, until 1983, when, Valium went generic.
Also, the bioequivalence, must equal 80% of the original pill, such as, the Mylan alprazolam, must equal 80% of the original Upjohn Xanax, with a standard deviation, of up to 120% of the original formula, on some medications, in the USA. Thus a generic may vary from 80 to 120% against, the original. "The catch is this.......the FDA does not regulate the "bioavailability"
of how your body breaks down the drug, once it enters your system, thus, this is where the "binders and fillers" come into significant play, with a number of psychotropic drugs. Examples: the "bioavailability" differs substantially, with the hypnotic, zolpidem tartrate, the brand name for "Ambien" and "Stillnox,
originally patented by Searle Pharmaceuticals in 1993,
later bought out or merged with the French congomerate pharmaceutical firm Sanofi. Also, the binders and fillers used by huge firms, like, Sanofi, are of often of much more superior quality, than the "mad rush by the competition of much smaller generic manufacturers, as in the "Ambien case" there were 16 competitors, that were once struggling for their share of the No 1 selling hypnotic, in the USA, and the complaints on the internet were rampant, with that hypnotic, and still exist, due to the cheap fillers used by some firms, causing a uneven, absorbtion rate, or once could say a "uneven release rate" of the actiive ingredient, Why is this? the price difference can be remarkable, and cheap fillers, allow a pharma mfg, to wholesale the pill in question, a lot cheaper, with substandard fillers and binders. Example: Brand Ambien AWP (Average Wholesale Price in 1995 was $153.14 for 100 ten mg tabs, plus, the normal, traditional mark-up of 20% on top of that. By 2010, 3 yrs after this product became generic in the USA, Sanofi, charged almost $6.00 per pill, due to many price increases "before the patent expired" (gouging) and after the patent expired, (gouging) due to patient complaints, of poor quality with the many competitors.

In the case of the top selling benzo in the USA, "Xanax", Upjohn's patent expired years ago, and, Pfizer is the parent company, one of the largest, if not the largest pharma firm in the modern world. Twelve competitors, made legally alprazolam, in 2009, in the USA, with 17 different Orange Book FDA therapeutic rating equivalence codes. (with generic alprazolam total number of prescriptions fillled in the calender year 2008 at 43,585,790 "making it in the top ten selling generic drugs in the USA in that year, vs approximately, only one million prescriptions for brand name "Xanax" by Pfizer/Upjohn. The popular 2 mg Xanax "Bars" sold wholesale to USA pharmacies in 2009 for a bottle of one hundred rectangular breakaway bars @$392.20 with a Deep Discounted rate, of $$326.83 if the pharmacy, like a large chain, purchased a large quantity, or contracted to buy a large quantity over a specified time, "plus the 20% markup" a consumer, could be paying, without insurance, a cash price of as much as $3.92 per 2 milligram Xanax brand elongated tablet each, vs. $1.96 Average Wholesale Price, for either a Greenstone, or a Sandoz two mg. bar. The cheapest Alprazolam in 2009 (to the USA pharmacies, were, the UDL brand, but not in the 2 mg bar, but the 1 mg. tab, @ $110.07 AWP + the 20% historical markup, with, Dava Pharma @ $196.45 for 100 two mg bars AWP, and, Actavis, @ $196.45 for 100 two mg bars.
In 2009 Actavis, Greenstone, and Sandoz also offered USA pharmacies a tad lower discount if they ordered bottles of 1,000 tabs at a time, of the 2 mg "famous bars"..again, in individual 1,000 count larger bottles.
IMHO, the best alprazolam, to compare, equally in the superior quality of Upjohn (now Pfizer) Xanax, are the
Gador Pharmaceutical 2 mg bars, sold in 3 countries in South America, called "Alplax", with Gador hdqtrs in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The quality absolutely stellar!
but very rare, these days in the here and now outside of Argentina, or Paraguay, etc.

Xanax name brand or the round MYLAN A4 is exactly the same, By the LAW they have to be equal. It's in your mind, which is very common if some one has been just takening the Xanax bars for a yr. or two then all of a sudden they get these round pills it puts doubt in your head but they are 2mg Xanax. So take one and relax!

Hi,
I am surprised to read that others like other generic brands than Mylan. Mylas has been the only brand that works for me, I guess because it hits me hard and strong immediately!! It does wear off quickly though....
Now my question is friends who have got Mylan where di they get them from??! I live in California and not even one single pharmacy around me carries it. Even Walmart carries Activis! (sp?)

I'm prescribed xanax 2mg and one day my usual pharmacy was closed so I went to Walmart to fill my script of 60 2mg xanax.I got my script (I remember this well bc they were ROUND and said À4 on the back and was a cross like scoring on front) I even googled the imprint but indeed it did say "alprazolam 2mg" so I thought no biggie. I took my dose and trust me I KNOW how I feel when I take my medicine.I normally get relief in about 30-40 mins...a whole hour went by and NOTHING..I could still feel anxiety dancing in my brain.Against instructions I took another tablet...again nothing. I went to bed that night very jittery and didn't sleep a wink. I woke up the next day took one again nothing. I got on internet and found that A WHOLE LOT of people had trouble with Mylan Alprazolam. There were threads, blogs, comments on drug sites, etc. I went back to Walmart and demanded either a different kind, or my prescription back.. they said no of course.. I've been seeing my Dr for a good many years so I brought the bottle (w/5 missing to him) and fortunately he wrote me another script. this time I went to my regular pharmacy and told my pharmacist what happened and he even stated that Mylan benzodiazipines (especially alprazolam) have a TERRIBLE reputation. He filled me with my regular generic (Greenstone) which I think is the best kind available. So just beware of MYLAN A4 GENERIC XANAX!

Not true. I'm prescribed two milligram xanax to stop seizures after I feel one manifesting. the round mylan are just as affective as the yellow and white bars from purepack. The bars are generic as well but neither more or less affective.

I have tried them all. The Mylan A4 is a better buzz in my experience. The bars just make me sleep, they do not give me the "happy feeling" that the Mylan A4 round white pills that you can break into four sections give me. It is supposed to be anti anxiety medication not a sleeping pill... Mylan also makes an A1 blue round pill that is effective and only 1mg.

The blue footballs are the best. Nothing touches them in my mind. Plus coming off the bars is much harder and gives you diarrhea really bad which I have not experienced with the Mylan generics or the original Xanax football shaped pills.

sniffing xanax sure you can sniff pop rocks , but why we tried years ago, got a stuuffy head. and the xanax didnt work i take 4 1 mg blue footballs daily i dissolve it in my mouth, swallow it and all my horrible anxiety goes away, you snort cocaine (i dont) but xanax(no)u , just wasting them and you will end up like a sinus cold. I have had panick attacks for 9 years and take them daily, if iy wasnt for them i woulnt leave the house. My husband says its a crutch damn right!!! he wouldnt like me without them, I just dont like to abuse them and take a handful why? I dont want to sleep ,just be calm.r

IMHO the best alprazolam in the free world, the modern
industrialized world, is only, the "brand name" by Upjohn/Pharmacia, (now owned by USA parent Pfizer, and only from a prescription, and only filled, in a USA pharmacy, by that brand name "Xanax" OR, in the
country of Argentina, Gador Pharma produces the absolutely equal in quality of their alprazolam ............
called "Alplax" also, in Paraguay. Argentina, has more manufacturers making alprazolam, that any country I have researched, in forty (40) countries, in all five continents, Source: the $700.00 US Martindale, 37th edition, publisher Pharmaceutical Press London UK
Still, you want a prescription, in South America, by a local MD, then go to a Pharmacia, to make sure it is the real thing, to be 100% sure, of its authenticity.
