Xanax Refill Early
UpdatedHi I live in California and I have been going to the same CVS for years.. I cash pay.. Recently I have been going through an extremly rough time.. very serious issues with regards to one of my children.. I am devestated.. CVS has always had no issues refilling my xanax prescription early.. usually around 7-10 days.. My dr called in a refill early on June 26 with no questions asked.. My next doctors appt. he hand written my xanax prescription on July 7th.. I held onto it.. and my husband dropped it off at pharmacy on July 18th and did not specify that I needed it that day.. I actually was surprised when I got a text notification saying it was ready an hour later.. I have a refill left and when I logged onto my CVS account earlier it had a message that said cannot be filled until Aug. 7th.. which is still a few days earlier then the full 30 days.. and I'm sure that if needed before that time I can ask my dr to authorize it early but I dont want to raise any red flags with their office.. even though my psychiatrist is well aware of the personal issues I am dealing with.. My prescription is for 1/2 tablet 1mg. 3 times a day as needed for anxiety.. CVS always gives me Alprazolam the generic form.. My question is did the pharmacy add that note? And if I transfer my prescription to another pharmacy will they add the same note to not be refilled until Aug. 7th?

I do want to note I have been on and off xanax for quite some time.. and do not have a physical dependency.. But with the situation I am going through I have been taking more then prescribed.. and I do take other medications from same psychiatrist to try and help with my severe anxiety diagnosis.. although they never seem to help.. and he will just change doses of those or add a different one.. I am aware that xanax is just masking my anxiety.. not curing it.. And I am aware it is still early to request a refill and although I am out I can deal with it.. But was thinking I could at least get a refill by the end of this week..
Hello, Jenny! How are you?
Yes, there is always a note on there about how many days each prescription should last and when it can be refilled, so it would also pop up at a new pharmacy. There's really nothing you can do to change it, unless your doctor changes your dosage and writes a new prescription.
This medication may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
Is there anything else I can help with?
unfortunatly they know everything. If you try another pharmacy early you may get cut off.
