Xanax Prescription Nyc (Top voted first)
UpdatedI recently moved to NYC and am looking for a doctor who prescribes xanax. I have terrible anxiety and have been prescribed until I switched doctors. I noticed a lot have practices have policies against prescribing it which is surprising. Despite my previous history the doctor I saw said his hospital does not allow it. Therefore will someone please give me the contact information of a doctor who will prescribe xanax in NYC. Thanks!

Pharcologymedic1,
That may be the most articulate and accurate posting regarding cds and the classification of such drugs that I've ever come across on here . Thanks so much for enlightening our readers, Kenie...
There are no new laws that state pcp's can't prescribe xanax. Although it may be very difficult if not impossible to find one who will prescribe xanax for a new patient.
In the State Of New York, effective March 27, 2013, xanax can't be refilled, or called in. Even though xanax is a Schedule IV by federal law, in the state of New York xanax falls under the Schedule II class.
I understand this thread may be a few years old, however, FDA and DEA guidelines run concurrent, in regards to a drugs legal classification. It is flat across the board, so "Sally resides in NY & fills an RX: Xanax, .5mg, i tab qid, disp. 120tab". This medication is a schedule 4. Now, if Sally moved to Nebraska, this same exact RX is ALSO a Schedule 4. The only exceptions are in certain other countries, where the Government or Drug regulatory agencies deemed it more of a risk, and bumped it to a schedule II Med. The US goes by Federal Guideline, states cannot change this, due to the Federal Government having oversight. AMA, DEA, DOH and Pharmaceutical companies follow Government regulations, they are on a higher level. Also, much financial assistance to these pharmaceutical giants is funded by the Government, which means, these companies must comply, within reason, to the person's paying them, like a special interest group. There's is the federal government, so whatever the government wants, they get, or no more funding. It is an extremely vicious amd dangerous cycle, however all scheduled narcotics are the same, flat across the board in the USA
It's actually due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, PCPs can no longer prescribe such medications. If you require one on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist, now.
The easiest thing to do will most likely be to set yourself up with a new PCP and have them refer you to someone.
This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability..
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
But States use the term 'Controlled' and most certainly can have different Laws that apply. Look at Florida, 21 Grams of marijuana is a Felony with up to a $1000 fine and a year in Jail. In California I can purchase up to 8 ounces a day, and get a free gift as well, go figure?
