Xanax Not Being Around After Jan.1st- Atarax Instead Help

Sure hope I can get some help here. I've been on 2 mg. Xanax for years, well over 8 years. My doctor called me last week and told me as of January 1st, Xanax, Valium, believe she said all Benzos will no longer be around! I did some research on this and saw where some States are doing this but did not see North Carolina (where I am), listed, of course I'm not through checking into this as it does take awhile, so thought instead, I'd come here and see what, if anything, anyone else has heard. I've been with this doctor for a little over 15 years so don't think she'd lie to me. She wants to give me, "Atarax" staring in January. What I've read of it, in other forums, most said it did not help their, Anxiety and Panic Attacks (I have both), plus it gave some vivid dreams and others vivid nightmares! I have a high tolerance too. I'm also wondering if I'll go through withdrawls while taking this new medicine? I'm wondering if there is something else I can take that is not in the Benzo. family, anyone know? If my doctor was still in the same city as myself, I could just ask her but she moved to another town last month making it hard to get up with her, I'll still be seeing her as she's only around 40 miles from me. Wish she'd hurry and get her website up, then maybe I could contact her through it. I cannot call her right now as I don't have that many minutes on my phone...not until Dec.11th, that's when my minutes rolls over. *if it's not one thing it's another, right?* {wink} I'd appreciate any help/information/links that anyone can provide me with. I don't think I'll like 'Atarax', especially with those type of dreams it creates and with me having a high tolerance, my body gets use to medicine so fast, for sure a negative in my life! Couldn't find of any upcoming laws banning Xanax at the State Level. You mention the Doctor called you to tell you this but you are in a different State? Perhaps the Doctor can no longer write for out of State controlled meds?

Banning ALL Benzos, I just don't think so. This Atarix sounds terrible and yes you need to taper off slowly, very slowly. I'd get another Doctor and if you can find this new law you are speaking about post it

Eddy, I googled it and found out as of Jan. 1st, Maine is the only State doing it. I agree about, Atarix sounds terrible! There were more side effects, like wanting to sleep all the time, thanks but no thanks! I said my doctor moved to another town (about 40 miles from me), Here's what I said: "she moved to another town last month making it hard to get up with her, I'll still be seeing her as she's only around 40 miles from me." Same State, different town.

My bad, it wasn't Xanax, it is Opioid ...here's the link to it: nashp.org/new-law-to-curb-opioid-abuse-and-diversion-passed-in-maine-strengthens-prescription-drug-monitoring-program ...dated April 20, 2016. But as you continue to read it, it does bring "benzodiazepine" up, also Maine is the 2nd (not first), State to do this, "In March, Massachusetts passed the nation’s first law limiting first-time opioid prescriptions". So not a a complete ban on it but, "Maine’s bill introduces new language into the state laws governing licensure of physicians, nurses, podiatrists, dentists, and veterinarians. Beginning January 1, 2017, providers will not be allowed to prescribe more than a seven-day supply of opioids within a seven-day period for acute pain or a 30-day supply within a 30-day period for chronic pain. The daily supply is limited to 100 morphine milligram equivalents (MME) of medication per day, which is an aggregated total in cases where an individual receives a combination of opioids. The language originally filed by Gov. LePage would have set the caps at three days for acute pain and 15 days for chronic pain."

There's way too much to copy and paste on here, Eddy. I will ask my doctor to provide me a link or something about the Xanax, don't think she's lying, as I said in my original post, I've been seeing her for over 15 years + have already been getting the amount lowered each month, did not put that last part in my post. Sure hope that link and what I posted on what was said in it gets posted on here. Have a good day/night~

Yes the filter holds long replies. Please, restricting Opioid prescriptions in a State or two is not a ban on Benzos?
