Will Covid 19 Affect Our Meds From China? (Page 2)
UpdatedI take Xanax for 15 years as needed. I am a senior. Not only do 97% of our antibiotics come from China, but other meds mixed into benzodiazepines and other medications are from there as well. Since China has shut down most of their factories, will the USA become short of our meds? I cannot stop taking my Xanax because I’ll have a seizure. We need to rely on our own medications to be made here. I am scared of a shortage more than getting this virus. And I know our President is doing all he can to help us.
Re: QAGirl (# 20)
Sorry to disagree. If not for my pills I’d be in a straight jacket over losing my son. For the loss of a child is a forever panic attack. My doctor told me I will never go off them and I was relieved of this. I am in my 60’s and really don’t care what happens. All I know is if you want to be wean off good for you I don’t want to and happy I have a compassionate doctor whom I’ve been seeing for 15 years. We have a good repore and it’s psychiatry not any other type of doctor. So stick to what is good for you and so will I. You can use scare tactics on me if you like but what you say is simply not true in my case. I just don’t understand why people think Benzos are a terrible drug. It must be the ones who either abuse it or want to wean off them. If one day they can no longer make them, there are other Benzos out there. But thanks for your input. I’m good.
I get meds filled from India. Have for years. I started because I oppose the Communist regime in China and did not want to enrich them in any way. Yes, I also do not buy items made in China. Since President Trump took office, I have hoped and prayed that he would succeed in helping the Chinese people and the thousands of Muslims who live an harder life. None of us should buy from them. I am hopeful that this Virus will do one positive thing - bring back drug and medical supply production back to the USA. And if we must buy from a nation that can do things cheaper, well India is not a Dictatorship. I can provide some links if folks wish it.
Re: Michelle (# 22)
I agree with just one thing you said. And that’s to bring back the manufacturing of medications made in the USA. Why would you “hope and pray our President helps the Chinese and the Muslims in China?” That doesn’t even make sense to me. He’s helping the American people and is the greatest President we ever had. The Chinese government need help their own. By closing the borders, our great president has kept out not just the deadly Heroin and Fentanyl, but child trafficking and disease. Anyway, you don’t know where your medications are made. So I don’t get this response. Not all ingredients are from India.
Re: QAGirl (# 20)
Great post! It will be 10 years on Monday that I was put into the ER & spent a week at my local Hospital for withdrawal. I just visited my Xanax collection I have put together since then, even found 2 bottles of 100 Boca 2mg pills & one bottle of 100 Dava bars 2 mg with a 2012 date on them. I was prescribed much more than I ever needed, and also know how dangerous this medication is. Its Poison, whether it comes from China, India, or Indiana. Those patients like Bella who speak like they have a lifelong entitlement to obtain Xanax are very mistaken. Also be advised Doctors are less likely to prescribe this medicine to Seniors, especially if you have to start with a new provider
Re: EDDY (# 23)
Seems to me that you take all kinds of medications. So I’ll stop at there. Never judge anyone in how they feel especially since chronic anxiety is an illness. I am GOOD with my medication and take AS NEEDED. You seem to not know how to take any medications looking at old meds tells me just about who you are. Too bad if I have NO PROBLEM with my medications. You sound jealous. And too bad I have a great relationship with my doctor. The same doctor at a major hospital I’ve been seeing for 15 years... sounds like a lot but four times a year is not. If he should retire, he simply tells another and it continues. I feel good if not for my loss. Have a great day and maybe you need a good doctor becaysecyou sound very confused and angry.
Re: Bella (# 21)
I was also told by my infamous Dr that I would need them for life, no I do not want to go off, nor do I want to spend any time tapering because I don't have that kind of time. I repeat, NO I DON'T agree with what's happening here in the USA with benzo's being politicized and blamed for overdose deaths when it's nearly impossible to OD on xanax. I will be sick for a long long time, but Bella, my prescriber IS retiring at the end of this year. I HAVE spent SIX LONG YEARS looking for another prescriber in two different states and the day has come -- at the end of 2020 there will be no one prescribing xanax to me. I am angry as hell, I've been lied to for years by medical community, and now I'm a criminal? No, I'm a woman with severe panic disorder who needs this med and needs it work. Here's your warning, your day is coming too when you hear those magic words, "No more for you."
Re: QAGirl (# 25)
Well we are not in the same situation hun. You’ve been lied to and screwed around with. I’ve been smooth for years. Your doctor if you’re telling me the truth, has a fiduciary responsibility to get you another doctor AND to give you a script with a refill until you do. That’s just what they do if you are a GOOD patient. So don’t say to me he’ll say no more that makes me laugh. I have the best care, the best doctor ever. You must be abusing them or something. If nobody wants to give them to you then your the problem not the doctor. Bye hun.
Re: Bella (# 26)
You are really out of line & must be ignorant? The more you speak the less you seem to make sense. We are very happy for you and your Immortal Doctor. The Office will always be there, nothing will ever change
Re: EDDY (# 24)
Congratulations on freeing yourself from this medically induced illness known as xanax dependence. I m happy for you, proud of you, and I aspire to achieve what you have @EDDIE

Re: Bella (# 27)
You're actually fooling only yourself Bella. Don't come on here to insult me about abuse and such when you know nothing of my situation.
Lost a child Bella? I am sorry, my condolences to you.
I've also lost not one but two sons, age 15 and 16, through no fault of their own or mine.
Please don't tell me that your intrepid grief is a lifelong panic disorder, I'm calling you out -- you're an addict and you need far better help than you've gotten. You've been robbed lady.

Let's remember who we're talking to: the epitome of a self-absorbed self-pitying addict who's driving this discussion, one whose cognitive skills are and one who admittedly cares more about "MY XANAX" than how covid-19' is affecting our country, our planet.
I see it all the time, the person who says "I need MY XANAX." As if they're doctor put a bunch of XNX generics into some safety deposit box for druggies. She's angry, scared, hurt -- mean.
As such, I'm out of this thread for good but applaud all who attempted to share the current xanax crisis with this poor sad woman.
I am sorry Bella. We're nearly in the same boat but you've got not a kind word for anyone here who's shown you some kindness and truth. Keep your blinders on, but fasten that seatbelt. Your clouded view against reality WILL end and it will be a xanax-no-more life for you. Guaranteed. The writing's been on that wall for years. But pop a benzo and don't bother reading. Best to you, sincerely,
QAGirl
Re: Bella (# 2)
If the Grace of God and your stawlart faith are sufficient for you, why do you care about YOUR xanax?
Re: QAGirl (# 29)
Thank you for that beautiful reply. Unfortunately that Hospital wasn't there to cure my Xanax use, they were out to restore my life. The E.R. Doctor was amazed I was able to speak with him, described as 'Walking Critical'. The first thing I did do was cut my intake by 33% a day on most days, I make the rules always knowing less is best & how Xanax is garbage. Many of us are warned from the very start how Xanax can become addictive, what we are not educated on is the dangers and pain of withdrawal, I could have written a book, it was wild!
Re: QAGirl (# 30)
Addict? I am 65 years old hun. I never did drugs in my life hun. I take them for an illness hun. If you took them for something else then your the addict hun. Seems you’d rather be in my place that you so desperately crave hun. But you’re nasty, name calling, and addicted to drugs shows here. I don’t go around saying anything bad about anyone. If you can’t take it between you and Eddy whose a drug addict then leave. This was all about medications being made overseas and you made it ugly Hun. Take care and I hope you find that doctor you so desperately need. Hun.
Re: Bella (# 34)
This wasn't about medicine being made overseas. This started with your racist comments and disgusting posts to other forum members. You are very misinformed about whether you're an addict or not, you are in denial. If I was 65 and I didn't have a plan for discontinuing this medicine I would be 100% frightened, even more than the Deadly Trump Virus itself or the 'Oranges' of my medicine
Re: QAGirl (# 30)
I am truly sorry for the losses you have experienced. Because I have developed new fears after seeing my child suffer from illness, I can no longer leave the house. I have severe anxiety after this death. So I’m going to end by saying I am truly sorry for your loss as this I know, the deepest abyss of pain the human spirit can endure, is the death of a child. You are broken inside forever. Being strong is the only option you have. As for me, my faith in God gets me through. God Bless.
