Will Oxycontin Be Changed Back To Original Formula (Page 28) (Top voted first)
Updatedis Oxycontin going back to their old formula? OC instead of OP.
Hi everyone.....hate to do this, but i think its better to warn you. Recently in Victoria they have decided that anyone on high doses of Oxycontin must take the OP formula.....so im now back on the silicone crap....think i will have to change to something else as side effects are terrible. The reasoning is overdoses have gone up since the release of generic, & they blame that on the sale of oxycontin generics by patients prescribed it. My doctor tried to get an exemption but they wont do it, ive seen the lettter to vic doctors & its the guy that heads the department doing this. He wants the generic gone completely. I hope this doesnt happen with you all in other states.
I think you have one answer, if your decreasing, some of your symptoms may be withdrawal. Do not go onto Methadone! Get another doctor as you intend to and stay on the Oxycontin, as you say if your being discriminated against now, it will be worse on Methadone. It costs the government a lot less, Methadone is extremely cheap as opposed to Oxycontin which is expensive. Methadone is a nasty drug but it has it's uses.
I am wondering about the change in colour in your feet, have you had your circulation checked out? You may have a blockage in a vein but if it is in both feet, could be a number of things including your heart so please do go and get a proper diagnosis, you can't treat it until you know what it is. The breathtaking pain you describe is common to sciatic pain, can go from the foot right up past the knee up to the buttock, does yours feel like this? It really is bad pain (I have had it several times, a nerve block worked wonders for me and cured it once). You might need a scan, preferably an MRI which will display any problems with your spine. Can you get a referral to see a specialist? Only a specialist can order an MRI.
As for people telling you to 'get over it' this is not something to 'get over' it is something to walk through, you have to feel the pain and walk on through the journey that is grief and eventually you will heal. Take no notice of those who say this, they are ignorant. Try keeping a journal it might help you get your feelings out and can be very helpful. You are in my prayers. Be strong but feel your feelings, there is nothing wrong with that, it is needed. Do take good care of yourself, please Kasmir.
Michelle, what about getting a petition going? If you go to change.org/start-a-petition you can start one up and I will definitely be signing it, people have got laws changed using these petitions, I have signed many of them and they are effective. Look into it, your a strong woman, eloquent and informed and very ill so what have to got to loose! Give it a go, if you get lots of support something can really happen. God forbid this happens in SA. I had to take antihistamines daily when I was on the 'poison' Oxycontin, six months of hell and I point blank refuse to take a drug that makes me so ill when a good alternative is available. My heart goes out to you Michelle, I am in shock for you, just can't believe this is really happening. When will they just leave us alone to live our lives in pain without caused extra pain! Stay strong my friend and know you are not alone. Cheers! (but not feeling too cheery - going to see my pharmacist and see if he knows anything about this).
Posters,
Methadone was created by one of Hitler's well paid scientists due to the SHORTAGE of poppy for opioids.
Lots of addicts posting wrong information. Methadone is the now cheapest LA medication on the market along with Duragesic the worst graduated withdrawal known to legitimate pain patients for addicts. Well if you voted Odumma you are now facing government rules on pain management and what you are bumping from those of us who are legitimate won't be available.
The 120 mg. morphine equivalent by the FDA is one.
States like California have prevented drug abuse by reducing strengths of Oxycodone and Contin available to the public, and addicts who literally break into pharmacies late night to get the higher strengths old Jerry Brown has blessed California with his stench but he protects ALL including pain patients who need unrestricted writing of opioids.
Kashmir,

I want the OC OxyContin I understand they are OP I don't feel they work as well and I'm getting conflicting information as to rather you can now get my precription of of OxyContin to OC not OP now if so why do my local pharmacies know nothing about OC back?? With my precription where can I get OC'S??
Hi Kasmir, I was wondering, have you ever heard of a condition called 'scleroderma'? Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. The word “scleroderma” comes from two Greek words: “sclero” meaning hard, and “derma” meaning skin. Hardening of the skin is one of the most visible manifestations of the disease. Here is a link to more information on scleroderma:
scleroderma.org/site/pagename=patients_VlyBrGSrSCd
Have a read and see if your symptoms fit scleroderma. Worth a read, if only to rule it out. It IS a lost of elasticity. It's very hard to treat anything until you have a correct diagnosis. If you think you may have this, you will need to consult an arthritis specialists. Good Luck Kasmir, hope this helps. Cheers!
My mom. Died after. Ten. Years of mexaateice in duce fibroaes, i need. The old oc. I have had ro rake them for thirty years since my accident an the new op have. No effect.
I live in Texas currently they treat you like criminals because you take Oxy.I have severe RA and numerous back and knee surgeries. They refuse to give you any pain. medicine with any strength .This state is really bad..I am moving as some as possible.
Hair thing?? I said nothing about hair, get your facts right! I have an extremely rare disease, only 200 recorded cases in medical history.....there's no research as research costs a lot of money, & grants are used for research into common diseases like breast cancer. I spent 10yrs chasing any treatment possible, natural & western medicine.....dont try to tell me theres new treatments every day, its just not true when you have a disease most doctors havent even heard of. Any information ive shared on here has been facts ive found, & discussed with my medical team. GP, Pain Specialists, Pharmacists.... always to try & help other people that are struggling.
Im so sorry Jeanie, thats terrible news.....we are very lucky this has not happened in Australia....although there is a bit of talk in the health department of late about the generic original version. Time will tell if it goes any further. I guess all you can do is look into other medications. Im not surevwhat you have available over there. Do you have a pain specialist? If not, you really need to get one, they are the doctors specialised in this field & able to be the most help.
It doesn't. I found small green pieces in my stool but they say it's the same. BS.
Wow Michelle you got attacked by the head butting girl...I just thought I'd let you know you have done nothing but give me helpful advice. So thank you.....
Thank you Sandie, thats all im interested in doing.....when you've been sick as long as i have, in constant pain even with pain medication you grow a thick skin. I have a disease most doctors know nothing about, so explaining it to regular people is not easy....people who've never faced long term illness/pain have no idea & can often be judgemental. Headbuttgurl most likely falls in that category, & probably needs to slow down on the head butting! I hope your doing well Sandie,
Cheers.
Where are you located Barry? If you are in US the new oxycontin OP is made out of a silicone material...its tamper proof, with medication dispersed throughout the tablet, therefore what passed is not a shell (it will have the medication in it.) have you told your doctor you are having problems with your medication?
Hi Michelle , I've been watching your conversations on here for a while . I am on the sandoz formula (works much like the original formula) u said u were in Victoria, is the health dept there still making u take the op formula? I'm terrified that this is going to be rolled out over all the states. I'm in Queensland and can't face going back to the ineffective op formula . So basically I'm asking if the health dept have allowed u to go back to sandoz .
Hi sandie, from Michelle's previous post she said that she was in Victoria and the health dept has taken ppl off the sandoz formula (herself included). I myself had similar problems to everyone here in that the op formula barely worked and made me very sick. I found out (on This site) that sandoz brought out a generic and subsequently changed over. I've been on the sandoz formula now and find it much like the original formula ie it works. in a previous post Michelle mentioned that in Victoria the health dept had rescinded the authority for her dr to continue to prescribe the sandoz brand as the head of Vic health wanted everyone to be on the op formula. She said her dr tried to get a special dispensation and wasn't allowed. This was several months ago her post regarding the matter is still up, however her later posts don't indicate that she is still being made to take the op formula. Therfore I'm wondering if the health dept has allowed her to go back to the sandoz formula. I had such terrible experiences with the op formula that I'm terrified if the health dept (in qld where I am) implements this strategy too. At my last gp appt my dr mentioned that the health dept here is thinking of restricting access to the sandoz formula. And insisting all chronic pain patients be moved back to the op (horrible ineffective goopy stuff) hence my concern and inquiry into whether Michelle has had to move back to and stay on the op type. I'm so anxious about this as like so many other ppl the efficacy of the ops are basically non existent . I assume if they have done this in Victoria and from what my dr inferred are considering doing it in qld it shan't be long till its rolled out Australia wide... Please let me know if u have heard anything about this or if u are aware if Michelle did actually have to go back and stay on the ops. Thanks
Sandie , the date Michele mentions The aforementioned scenario was on Novemeber the 15 2015 or around then... If u go back and look at her posts it might help clarify what I'm talking about .
Hi Zaborav, no worries.....the OP oxycontin was brought in last year, because the patent ran out & that would have opened the market for other companies to make/sell original formula. This is exactly what happened in the US & other countries, nothing to do with saving addicts lives....all about money. However after 6 months, we had a genric original formula available.... Mundipharma (suppliers with patent) tried to have it stopped, using the argument about its new formula being tamper proof, ra ra ra..,. Anyway lucky for us our government has not passed that, so we have the generic (Sandoz) in original formula...leaving it up to doctors to prescribe which ones their patient needs -which is really how it should be. If you look at when the patents expired for original oxycontin it matches the dates of when new formula was introduced to each country, if it was all about stopping them being abused.....why werent they brought into Aus until 2yrs later & 1month before the patent expired.......all bulls***, they dont care....they just want to keep the whole oxycontin market to themselves, its a good earner as its one of the best pain killers available. There were a lot of people getting terrible side effects & reduced pain control when the OP was brought in, to many people to be a coincidence & when the original was back these side effects disappeared & pain control was better. I had stomach cramps, headaches & night sweats along with my pain level in the 8-10, instead of 6-9 on original. I have allergies to other pain tablets, had seizures with tramadol, vomiting with morphine etc. so the oxycontin has been the only one that doesnt cause as many issues. To be prescribed these medications on long term basis in Aus doctors have to get a permit for us, that is renewed every year & each month when getting scripts the doctor has to call the governing body here. Its very strict & you really need to have a pain specialist as well to help with your pain treatment. I think its great, & probably stops a lot of addicts trying to get them....it should be regulated, which is why i dont think the script can be filled outside of Aus. Im sorry im obviously wrong about purchasing prescriptions from other countries..... Although im pretty sure you cant do that from Australia.....i may be wrong, ive never had a need to.
We have them here in Canada they are generic but the same as the original perdue oxycontins.when perdue switched to the Oxy neo I took it for 3 years it didn't work half as good as the originals .the oxyneo caused stomach pains constipation and heartburn.my doc switched me over to the generics and all is good now but it took 3 months for my stomach to feel better.also with the oxyneo they were lucky if they lasted 6 hours and it would wear off.and the oxyneo is over twice as expensive the oxy neos cost me $697 and disabilty wouldn't cover it and the generic oxycontin $220 a month for the same amount and strength as the oxy neo.
