Dox, they're on the PBS now, have been for about a month & a half! Yes they are like the original formula, & im finding no problems taking them. I did have to have a few days of mundifarmas new formula last week, the delivery hadnt arrived for the Sandoz ones & i was out of medication. I took the first dose & within an hour was feeling sick as a dog, pains in my stomach & headache, took next dose & these symptoms became worse so i stopped them, thankfully the genrics were in the next day & ive put the others aside to give to my doctor to dispose of & tell the drug admin, so it doesnt muck up my next script being being early. Im finding the Sandoz generics to be like the original OC formula Dox, i dont know how others are going with it. What was your dosage when you were on the original OC? Your dosage if your current meds sound quite high.

Hi Michelle great Yea I am on a high dose of opiates :( I will swap straight back at my upcoming monthly drs appointment I was previously on oxycontin 55mg 2x per day 12hrs apart that's 1x40mg and 1x15mg at one time day and night also taking 20mg oxynorm instant release 2-3 times per day then the new oxycontin came out I got terrible side effects and constant headaches and no pain relief so my dr was upping the dose I didn't want that so my dr swapped me to 100mg of ms contin 2x per day and 2-3 oxynorm instant release per day I will swap back and go to the 80mg strength 2x per day and my oxynorm instead of the morphine makese a lot more drowsy then oxycontin so it does every sluggish every morning when I wake up my chemist informed me they will be on pbs from the 1st of December

Hi Luka,
It's great to see a pharmacist working to help those in real pain. 2007 I had acute pancreatitis then 2009 severe pancreatitis which left me in a comma, collapsed lung, and kidney and was given no more than 20% chance of surviving. had a 15cm pseudo cyst on the pancreas which is now changing, I hope not to a tumor. Several years ago I was due for surgery. On the day I was examined and released. My surgeon decided against operating procedure as the cyst had reduced in size on its own. So hence my cyst is now 5.5cm and still reducing. But as you can imagine I suffer from quite a lot of pain. Even if I did have the proceedure, the surgeon could not guarantee me to be pain free. I have been lucky enough for the last 12months my chemist kept a supply of the old formula for me. He has now ran out. I have tried the new formula and the pain relief is much less effective and takes a longer time to before I'm able to start my of my day. I live in western Sydney. My doctor doesn't help me much. Now he has asked me to go to a pain specialist and pay hundreds of dollars, which I cant afford o pay to asses my pain. I can asses my pain myself. Is this normal. Please let me know. I would also like some help as to where I can get the generic oxycodone. I have rang the supplier in Sydney, however have not heard back. Any advice would be great. Thank you for your time.

Well hope you get back to normal once you start the generic Dox. They are def on the PBS now as ive been getting them the last 6 weeks. There will be others coming out & that might be Dec, your pharmacist might be referring to those. The Sandoz ive been able to live again instead of being sick all day & night & unable to move because of the pain, the ones i just got will be going into medical waste, im not touching them again now i know they are solely responsible for my downslide. Im on a very high dose, but theres nothing else that can be done to help me medically, so my doctors treat me as terminal-which i am, but its been very slow moving with me so far, (just hope it remains like that, i have to much living to do yet) Good luck mate.

Are you sure the sandoz ones are not like the terrible mundipharma ones and are like the old formula as I cannot go back to the old formula I cannot tolerate them and the side effects I really hope they are so I can the correct pain relief again and swap back from the MS Contin aka morphine witch makes me drowsy the way they made them oxycontin abuse proof and how they gel up made them not work properly and give bad side effects to people not to mention the carcinogens in the new oxycontin

Hi Dox, I printed out all the ingredients from the original oxy, the reforumulated oxy, and the generic Sandoz oxy. Be asurred, the Sandoz are the same as the original. There is also another generic out by Mundipharma which is the same as the reformulation so make sure your pharmacist gives you Sandoz and you will have no problem, ring and order it in before you need it. Make sure your doctor understands you want the generic when the script is written. Do see your doctor now instead of waiting for your monthly appointment as it may take time to get permission to go off the MS Contin and back onto Oxycodone again as they may have to put in forms etc..Good Luck

Yes Dox absolutely positive, they are the same as the original OC tablets, NOT OP, i dont know why your chemist is telling you different, hes wrong. The Sandoz ARE in stock & ARE on PBS. Maybe you need to find another chemist, either yours is clueless or he just doesnt want to carru them.

Great advice Jay, it may take time to change over meds-sometimes even a hospital admission to get dosing correct, as well as paperwork for permits. I wouldnt touch any medication from Mundipharma theyre not going to make a version of originap

Hi jay yes it's okay for me to swap back to oxycodone in the gereric appointment I have all the authority I need I am subsequent meaning I have been on opiate narcotic analgesic for 12 months and then seen another specialist to get the subsequent application and you only have to do it once in nsw I had been on the old oxycontin for yrs and still take oxycodone instant release oxynorm for breakthrough pain 40mg to 60mg per day that's 2 to 3 capsules a day they are good but I want the old oxycontin back as the MS Contin 100mg 2x per day makes me drowsy where as the oxycontin sort of energised me a little if you understand what I mean but I refuse to go back if they aren't the same :( if they are they same my monthly drs appointment is on the 31st of October that's Friday i will swap back and talk to my dr and say the generics are out she said I can swap back straight away as soon as generic brand comes out she had no problems putting me on ms
Contin

Hi Michelle my chemist told me in December they will come on the one list until I would have to pay full price if I swapped to them :/

Dox i think you might need to change chemists! Hes not telling you the truth, as ive said 3 times i have had them for about 6 weeks & not paying for them as i have teached my safety net limit, so they are definetely on PBS. They must have slacker regulations in NSW with authorities. Im in Vic, & each year permits have to be resubmitted, also if you change meds or increase dose new authorities have to be approved, however an interim authority is issued until the full one goes through.

Hi Michelle I am going back to my dr tomorrow for my monthly pain medications and I will swap back I will ask my dr if the genetics are on the pbs as I said my chemist told me December they will be on pbs and he will order them in for me until then I would have to pay full price I am on disability support pension I cannot even find a picture of a box of the sandoz brand on the Internet at all I just to rally hope they are the same as the old formula as I cannot tolerate the oxycontin reformulated at all they are horrid

Dox im not going to repeat again, u can work it out with your healthcare providers. Im on disability & i have the Sandoz original formula, i dont pay at all for it as ive reached my safety net limit. If you dont want to believe me, theres nothing i can do about it. Good luck.

They are not on the one yet until the 1st of December and that is the gods honest truth 6 pharmacists have told me also 4 drs at the pain management clinic they rang personally about them December 1st is when they are on the pbs until then I will have to stay on the MS contin 100mg 2x per day and 2-3 oxynorm 20mg per day instant release until then

DOX, why don't you get on the internet and find the phone number and call sandoz. I Take a pain patch that sandoz makes. Last year for several months my pharmacy was unable to get it. They had no release date. Eventually they gave a date for 2 months out. I have all sorts of weird chemicall allergies so there r very few medicines I can tolerate. Anyway after the first month I took a chance and called sandoz, just to SEE if MAYBE they had an earlier release date. Turns out they did. They were in stock again. Had I not taken the initiative and called them, both my pharmacist and I would be standing around waiting and wondering. So I called my pharmacist the next day, he special ordered them, and and I got them in 48 hours later. I live in the US, so don't know who your pharmacy orders from. I looked up sandoz in Australia and found this contact number.

02 9566 1500.

Or

Sandoz Pty Ltd

(didn't see a zip code maybe u don't use those there)

Good luck I hope this helps.

I agree with this 1,000%.... The new OxyContin and especially the new Opana (OP) aren't anywhere near as effective. I have been on Opana40mg ER (4 per day), for quite some time... At least several years and I can tell you personally that the new ones feel about half as effective as the the original Opana. It's extremely unjust that in an attempt to so-call stop abuse of this medication for those that do not get prescribed it, that the rest of us that legimately get it and take it have to suffer and be deprived of something we genuinely need.. The innocent always suffer for the sins of the guilty.. I have had severe debilitating back pain for over a decade due to a work related injury and medication allows me some ability to function. Without it I am a cripple in enormous agony. Doctors, pharmaceutical companies and the like would have a very different slant on this situation if they themselves or someone they knew and loved were victim to this dilemma. They would sing a real different tune, I can tell ya !!!!

Hey Raf, steer clear of Luka I dont believe hes a pharmacist. You doctor is right to send you to a pain clinic, you need to be ascessed properly & see what can be done to help your pain, there are many options before having to turn to opiates. I have done pretty much all of them as i didnt want to have to take these medications, but i have a rare disease with no treatment or surgery options, im long term palliative care. If your lucky there may be something that can help, i know private are expensive so find out which hospitals in NSW have pain clinics & get yourself to emergency when your levels are out pf control, the doctors will be able to get the pain specialist to help you & get you into the pain clinic. GP's cannot give long term opiate medications without an authority & it needs to be backed by a Pain Specialist, if your pains as bad as your saying you might be able to save enough to visit a private Pain Spec to at least get ascessed, if your unable to get into public clinic. Its not your GP being unkind its the law. You cant ascess your own pain mate, beyond knowing it hurts, & you dont know whats the best course of treatment if your lucky you wont have to take this crap. No one legitiment should have any problems getting the Sandoz Generic Oxycodone modified release. Its been here in Vic pharmacies for 6 weeks & I guess will follow if not already be in other Australian States soon. If you cant get it, speak to your GP & Pain Spec & call Sandoz. Good luck to you all, i wish you the best.
