Will My Dr Take Me Off Suboxone And Put On Opana

in 2005 when i was 22 i hurt my shoulder and needed surgery, i was prescribed 2 oxycontin 20 mg pills and 8 10 mg hydrocodone pills a day. in 2006 i had shoulder surgery, it was called a capsular shift. i had the tendons and ligaments shortened and re attached because the shoulder would dislocate about 10 to 15 times a day. after the surgery i was prescribed 2 opana 20 mg and 4 percocet 7.5 mg a day. for about 6 months everything was fine and i was doing good but i started to feel pain in my neck, upon my next trip to the dr they did an mri of my neck and found that i had a hearniated disc. they bumped the percocet up to 10 mg 6 times a day and left the opana at the same dose, 2, 20 mg a day. i started to feel withdrawal after a short time and if i didnt have the meds i would not only be in agony because of the pain but i would also get withdrawal symptoms, chills, restless leg, bubble guts, all the fun stuff. after talking with my dr. we decided i would benefit from suboxone. i was originally put on 3 8mg pills a day and ibuprofen and tramadol for pain. over the past four years we reduced the dose slowly and now i am on 1/4 of a pill a day, or 2mg. 2 months ago i re injured my neck again and have been in pain almost around the clock. i spoke with my dr. and he suggested going to physical therapy, i went to therapy and hurt so bad i could barely do the exercises. i use heat and ice every day and go to a massage therapist as well. as i am sitting here my neck is throbbing in pain. and now to my question... if my dr agrees that i am in pain and sees proof that there is something wrong with my neck what is the possibility that he will prescribe me a narcotic pain med to help aleviete the pain that i have. on a scale of 1 to 10 most of the time it is at about a 7 but sometimes it hurts so bad i cry because i start to panic and think im dying. some days are better than others but there is ALWAYS pain in my neck, it affects everything that i do. if anyone has had the same experience as me i would greatly appreciate your input. i have an appointment with my dr on friday. its now tuesday night. i will not ask him for a pain med. but i will tell him basically the same thing that i just typed.

You know your doctor better than anyone on here, so I am sure you'd be a better judge of what the possibility is that he'd prescribe you something else.
