Wide Awake, Anxious, Twitching Legs - For How Long??
UpdatedI took my first and only pill of Augmentin 875 after dinner last night. I got dizzy shortly thereafter. The dizziness subsided after roughly 6 hours, only to be replaced with anxiety, restlessness, and twitching in my legs. My OCD is flaring. It's 2:30 AM, about 8 1/2 hours since I took the pill. How much longer will these symptoms last??? I can't even quiet my mind or settle my legs long enough to attempt sleep!

Hello, Rhita! How are you doing?
That is very unusual, especially after taking just one tablet.
I think the best thing to do would be to contact your doctor about taking a different antibiotic, this one obviously doesn't agree with you.
The normal side effects should be things like nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Thanks for your reply. I'm feeling better today, though still jittery, especially in the legs. Diarrhea started this morning and I've had a bit of trouble with that but overall I'm better. The restlessness in my brain has decreased considerably, though is still there somewhat - possibly due to the lack of sleep last night.
I take no kind of medication - not even OTC drugs, only rarely a couple of Ibuprofen for any major aches or cramps - again, that's rare. I have sulfa allergies and almost every seasonal allergy known to man. I think since I don't take any drugs regularly, my body tends to overreact to anything I do take. For instance, I get the same effect from 2 Advil that my sister needs 4 to achieve and she is on a daily regimen of medication for various things.
I had dizziness last time I took plain Amoxicillin and that took several days of being on it to ease up. I see my doctor tomorrow and will inquire about taking that instead. I did not take a second dose of Augmentin this morning.
Thanks again!
Re: Verwon (# 1)
The twitching leg stuff is a reaction I experienced while taking Augmentin 1g. It is almost 1 week since I took the last dose and I still experience the leg muscle weakness/twitching, slight dizziness, cold chills at night and slight headache. The effects are reducing but it is a crazy feeling.
I was on Ciprotab 500mg for 10 days (Typhoid treatment) and Augmentin 1g immediately after the typhoid treatment to address a Sinus/Severe sore throat infection I had less than 24hrs after my last Ciprotab dose.
I ran a fresh test for typhoid test last week and it came out clear. I am also free from malaria.
