Why Is Actifed Banned (Page 3) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI'm looking for the old formulation of Actifed.
Are there any countries that still sell it?
I know you can use it to make drugs, but it's the only thing that works for me (and it helps me sleep too).
I would not have ANY problem having the FBI at my house if I could get some. They'd be sitting on my shelf just exactly like my 16 bottles of shampoo, 42 bars of soap and 18 boxes of bandaids (I'm not a hoarder, I just hate running out of stuff...and stupidly, before that stuff went away, I didn't buy a ton of it).
The stuff they sell behind the counter is a reformulation....it's different.
Today the local Walmart had absolutely no cold meds with Pseudoephedrine in stock.
But just found Wal-Act today at the local Walgereens.
Cost $7.99 for 48 tabs
Here are the active ingredients:
Pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg
Triprolidine HCl 2.5 mg
Allowed one at a time, have to show ID, sign agreement to obey the law, etc.
So glad I found this thread. Just purchased WalAct D at Walgreens and it is the original Actifed formula: 60 mg pseudoephedrine HCL + 2.5 mg triprololidine hcl.
Aprodine is the original Actifed. It is available at Publix in FL and TN . It may be available at all Publix stores but I have only bought it in these 2 states. The ingredients are PSEUDOEPHEDRINE HYDROCHLORIDE 60mg, TRIPROLIDINE .
It's up to $9, but I don't care since it is the only thing that works for me. THANKS TO ALL FOR THESE POSTS!
We just got some in Bali if that helps anyone
Boots pharmacy in the UK has the old actifed tabs (will not ship to US), look up actifed tirpolidine & boots uk
I buy mine at walgreens too because it works the best, but I've tried to get more at 30 days, which is about one and a half times a day, and they look at me like I'm the criminal, and won't give me any. it's been two weeks since I've ran out, so I guess I'll go back again tonight. What is that saying about one bad apple?
Hey guys. I love the old Actifed but can't find it in Canada anymore. I did however find a place in the UK that ships to Canada (and I assume the U.S.), and I'm pleased to say that my first box arrived today, and took very little time to ship. 2.5mg Triprolidine with 60mg of pseudo.
But here's the thing. In Canada, pseudo is regulated not or controlled. It's right there on the counter, and you can buy as much as you want. This is not true in the UK and most of the US as I understand it. For that reason, the pharmacy in the UK refuses to ship me more than one box per order, and shipping is something like 15 or 17 British pounds. The box of 12 pills was only something like 5 pounds. So I paid 38 Canadian dollars (about 29 USD for one box). I realize that's crack prices, but to me they are worth $3 a pill because they are the only thing that fixes my bad allergy flare ups, which happen about 3 times a month and debilitate me for the day.
The site is mypharmacist.co.uk. I've done some digging on this medication, and this is the only site I've found.
Cheers!
OMG Yes! we can thank methamphetamine cooks for ruining it for the rest of us...i was actually prescribed the original formula as a child when my family left california for illinois. The change in flora affected me severely. I'm 51 now and just left maryland for texas and OMG what i wouldn't give for a prescription to the old formula as it's no longer available over the counter.
Why did they take it off the market? It was the only thing that worked for me.
I doubt it is the same exact Actifed.
Wal-Act D is not available, I asked today.
The plain Wal-Act is.
Your thoughts?
I am so glad to find this old post. I haven't suffered from allergies in years but find myself really suffering. After trying the newer meds with no relief I remembered I had some old Actifed. 1 pill and I was clearing up. I only have a few. I guess I will have to buy Wal-act. It is the only similar product I can find in the US.
Do the ask for valid ID and what is the limit and cost
Oh my gosh - I just looked that up on Major Pharm website - they do have it listed. I took Actifed growing up for my allergies - only thing that worked. I'm now experiencing some different allergies or something at age 47 and am not finding anything that seems to help much. Maybe good old Actifed would do the trick today. Thanks so much - really!!
I really suffer terribly with allergies and sinus since coming to live in NZ. I am house bound and in tears some days when I get it. Actifed (original) was my life savior on these days. I have tried many other medications with no success. Allergies have definitely spoiled my quality of life. Those despicable drug dealers have really spoiled it for the ones who really really need it.
I'm in Texas. I'm the same way. I found Wal-Act at Walgreens. It's the only thing that helps me and my daughter that is allergic to EVERYTHING outside. It's the closest thing we have found to Actifed. She also Uses Flonase with the actifed. I can't because of the smell... hope this helps.
As others have stated, APRODINE has the same stuff as the old actifed. I just bought a 24 pack at my local grocery store pharmacy. It's cheap and it works and you don't have to seek it out in a foreign country.
In Washington state it's triprolidine and Sudafed.

Ask you doctor for a prescription for pseudophedrine
