Yes, that is the correct medication, it is manufactured by Cipla USA.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, and dry mouth.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed the same pill, also not my norm and also for Bupropion HCL XL 300 mg, It does say CIPLA on the bottle also. I thought it looked odd, so I googled it and was surprised to not find any info except for this thread. Did you have any problems?

I have started gaining weight since I received.
This is the only thing different I have taken in years.

I began taking the Cipla version of Bupropion HCL XL 300mg 4 days ago. Each day I've had a strong, clustered headache; the headache would be minute in the morning and then grow after taking the medication.

In addition, my vision has been a little blurry and I've felt off and fatigued. Nothing else in terms of medications, lifestyle, diet, etc. has changed these past 4 days. Given the timing, I can only assume it's due to the medication.

I've taken 3 generic brands of Wellbutrin XL 300mg in the past, each without issue. This is the first generic that has caused me problems. CVS is going to refill with their remaining supply of Achen (a white pill marked A 102), but I was told that the location would no longer be carrying it. When I inquired over the phone as to whether any locations in the area would continue offering a different generic, I was told I'd have to check each location in person.

If you are having similar side effects as I am, I encourage you to report the medication to the FDA and CVS. I've seen multiple other reports of the same side effects on this forum and elsewhere regarding Cipla's version.

I switched over from PAR to Cipla (Bupropion 300 mg XL) 3 days ago. Had been taking it for year plus for major depression and doing really well. After switching I had green/yellow flashing visuals, lightheadedness/distant, difficultly concentrating. The next day I had all of that plus a headache and extreme fatigue, and have been sweating/clammy. Had to take a 3+ hour nap (haven't done that in over a year). Emotionally I feel drained and have had to skip activities because I cannot concentrate. Cannot stop crying. This medicine definitely is NOT equivalent to the PAR generic. I've switched back to PAR this morning, but do not yet have any relief.

Here is where you can report problems/symptoms to the FDA. Please do so if you experienced problems after being switched to this brand:

Thank you everyone who has posted about Bupropion HCL XL 300 mg manufactured by CIPLA USA, IN. I began using Welbutrin before it was even generic, then used the generic Bupropian by PAR mfg. It worked great. Fast forward MANY years, and I picked up my script last week manufactured by CIPLA. In the six days since i began using these pills, I have experienced: deep depression, crying jags, lack of concentration, lethargy, shaking (hands), anxiety attacks, difficulty catching my breath, and a general feeling of "uneasiness." Again, thank you everyone for taking the time to post. I contacted my pharmacy and they are working on an alternative.

Thank you for providing the LINK to the FDA WEBSITE.
I filed a report on Bupropion HCL XL 300 MG TABLET
MFR: CIPLA USA, IN

This is the most proactive, positive thing I have done since starting those pills (except, of course, stopping them).

I've had just the opposite happen. The A 102 generic gave me the same side effects that you were experiencing from Cipla's I 71, which is working much better for me. Bupropion efficacy issues are a drag. Feel good!

My sister who is in very bad health, just changed from Par A102 Bupropion to Cipla I71. Family fills her pill box, and showed her the change and didn't hear a word. Until a week or so had passed, I counted and she had taken 8 pills. She stopped cold turkey refusing to take them and insisting they were causing her problems. Now the cold turkey didn't work well either, because she was a mess until 8 days later when I finally convinced her pharmacy to get her the old ones and we would pay out of pocket. She was having breathing troubles which I could attribute to other things during this time that she was taking the I71's. And sometime either right before, but definitely after she quit taking the I71's, she started shaking and was miserable to be around. Got her back on the A102's and she was great within a day or two. Again, no way to know for sure if it was the pill or some other contributing factor, but I think the medical community should have to check out each one of these complaints to ensure it wasn't affecting even a small portion of the population

I was also taking the PAR generic until CVS switched to Bupropion HCL XL 300 mg manufactured by Cipla. Honestly, it took me about a month to figure out why I was feeling so bad... Severe headaches, anxiety, irritability, lack of concentration, and did I mention... headaches. I don't typically have any negative reactions to medications (generic or otherwise) so it took quite a while for me to wonder if it was due to the manufacturer switch. This discussion was a lifesaver for me, seeing so many others experiencing the same issues I was having. Reading this spurred me to action. I found a pharmacy dispensing bupropion by Actavis. I didn't have any experience with bupropion by this mfr but figured at this point it couldn't hurt. So glad I did. It took two to three days but the negative symptoms listed above went away. I still think PAR worked better for me but the Actavis is okay. I will not take the Cipla version again.

Wow! I am so glad I found this site! When I first googled the generic for the Wellbutrin XL 1 tab. daily I've been taking for years, I couldn't find this new generic...Bupropion HCL Tab XL 300 mg. Thats how it is written on the bottle. My insurance changed, so its a new drug company (Mail order). Its called Medimpact Direct. I just ran out of my non-generic Wellbutrin XL 300 mg. 2 days ago. Nothing else has changed in my meds, or daily habits. I feel off. Not quite right. fuzzy thinking, dizzy, shaky, a bit lethargic, I slept several hours today, slight nausea, and I go from hot to cool off and on. Almost like the beginning of flu-like symptoms, but not. I am calling my Dr. tomorrow, as well as the drug company who substituted this to me. Also have a sight headache! I do NOT like feeling this way at all...It has made my past 2 days difficult to do my everyday activities...Even small things like typing this note, eating, household chores, just about everything. Thank God I saw this!!!! This was extremely helpful and I'm glad others have come forward. I'm not crazy!!! I will be reporting this also. Thank you.

I experienced the exact same thing! I recently had my prescription refilled. I was on Bupropion HCL XL 150 mg manufactured by PAR. When I picked up my new refill (of 90 count - which I've never had 90 before), it was of a different shape with a new number. I didn't think much of it. After 20 plus days of use, I've had MAJOR depression, sleep deprivation, terrible anxiety, mood swings, crying over absolutely nothing, suicidal thoughts, irritability, fighting with my fiance over nothing, weight gain, headaches, lack of concentration, sleeping for days, and flu-like symptoms. I called my pharmacy and reported the symptoms. I have also contacted the FDA, which I encourage ALL of you to do (it doesn't take long, but if they have enough of us reporting these symptoms, then they'll have to look into it). I can't wait to get back on my PAR Bupropion. I'm really glad I found this forum.

I should mention that the one causing problems is the I 13 tab, manufactured by CIPLA

I would like to post an update. I am back no PAR generic bupropion XL 150 mg this morning and I feel back to my old self. Absolutely amazing and a complete 180. Please report your results to your pharmacy. My pharmacy is now keeping an eye on patients taking Cipla's generic and is also switching PAR to their preferred Wellbutrin generic. I have also reported my results to Cipla and they "say" they are conducting an investigation. Please report your issues to them as well. Their email is: [email protected]

Exactly the same issue. Thank you for having posted. I have never encountered CIPLA's product before. I would like to know if recent batches have been tested independently both for drug content as well as dissolution rate - does anyone know?

I'm not quite sure, but I know if you reach out to them, they are looking into it. The FDA is as well, but I'm sure they need more people to report it in order for anything to happen.

I just wanted to add that you can and more than likely will withdrawal when you stop taking bupropion.
Thinking that when they switched the manufacturer you all were withdrawing off the originals. IMHO

Absolutely. I was for sure going through withdraw as well as having reverse side effects. It was terrible.

Well I just refilled my Bupropion and as you all have said it's changed MFR to Cipla. Scared to take it after reading these posts. I think I will avoid these problems and take med back to CVS tomorrow. Hope I can get my old med again.
