White Watson 10mg 325 #853 (Top voted first)

I just recieved a new prescription of norco 853 10/325. The last script was yellow and the new ones are white. The pharmacist said that Watson changed the color but the pill is the same, does anyone know if this is accurate?

LuLu,I read your response and nobody is talking about a doctor's job to make anyone a zombie.I think that was a rude comment.The white's are weaker and I have called the FDA.Allison is correct and Melissa is correct.Ladies,if you will report this to the FDA like many other's have then there will be an investigation.

I just got my new "white" ones, and I totally agree that they are not the same, so it clearly isn't all in your head. I have been taking Mylan brand for 10 yrs and they worked just fine. Walgreens gave me the Watson brand this time and they are not working like the ones from Mylan.

Just seconding what Allison said. The white ones are not nearly as effective as the yellow tablets. My pain has become excruciating since I received the white ones last week. I took a yellow one an hour ago because it was what I had with me - it's like I've never taken these before. Dizziness aside, at least the pain has subsided. I'm calling my doc...

You guys are NOT imagining things. The white ones are not the same. Just reported it today, May 1st, 2013. There has been TONS of complaints with the white ones, and I was told its possible there needs to be some tweaking done to the ingredients to get them working properly. Personally, I think its bigger than that, but what do I know. Govt just trying to make us spend more money on the name brands, so they take out the active ingredients in the generics. I take 2 10/325 per day and I feel great. NO pain at all. These white ones, I have taken 6 in the last 5 hours and my knee is KILLING me. This is nuts...

You can still get relief from generic Norco, just go with a different brand. Qualitest, Mallinckrodt and Amneal all work pretty good - much better than these white Watson's for sure. Call different pharmacys in your area and ask them what brand they carry before filling your script. Hope everyone finds relief from their pain!!

I agree the white ones are NOT working as well as the yellow ones and not only is my pain level back up my intestines are acting up again the same way it did cpl yrs ago when I started using walmart pharmacy who carried mallingkrod brand norco i found freds carried watson brand and switched no more problems. Now watson has changed something and its not just the color generics are supposed to be equal but I can promise you there IS a difference in the cheaper generics watson has been pretty consistant until now and im glad I found this forum because I was beginning to think either I got slipped placebos or counterfeit med. I cant take this pain and stomach distress!! Just when I was getting a handle on the lupus and genetic defect I have and feeling better THAT way now my bone joint and muscle pain seems worse :( and after four years of tummy problems and FINALLY getting better now my tummy feels bloaty and like Im being pinched all over my intestines head hurts and I just dont feel well.i have severe dextro roto scoliosis thoractic and neck and spurs bulged discs etc always in pain but at least tolerable for the most part as long as i was careful. Now thanks to this color change i feel like im ready for a wheel chair :(( its NOT just a color change there is NO way a color change makes you feel like this :((

@Julie*im so sorry that you two people on here attacking you, but you know....you deserved it and more. .. you are a grown up with a child like mind. I think the comment about"dying or pulls back yellow and maybe that would help, was the rudest statement I've heard in a while. I want to use some choice words here, but I'm going to be the adult. I honestly think you should apologize to the people on this bog for making the "assumption" that people are addicted, just because they don't feel the new meds are working as well as the others does not imply that they are addicted, but you sound well versed in that field??? Is it possible for you tobe respectful of others issues without the responses you have been giving. Btw... you truly Do not sound like someone with a higher education, just saying

It's not in your head. If they were the same, the effect with regards to pain relief would be the same.

I'm hoping it's just a wonky batch from the manufacturer, but I think it's odd so many people are saying the same thing regarding the effectiveness (well, the lack thereof).

Either way I am sick of taking pain pills, but if I have to take them, I would want it to work. With the Yellow one; I would take one or one and half, but with the white, I notice about two three days later, that pain was braking through and I had no energy . The yellow pills always help with the pain and I had energy to get up and do things, since being on the white ones, never no energy and having pain, even after taking 2-1/2 to 3 pills and I was only taking 1 to 1-1/2 of the yellow. And with the white ones I am out of pills to the 29th of April. I gurss I will ask my Doctor to change to something else. I don't care, they taken out more then yellow dye.

I have neuropathy and arthritis also. And I am also a father of 3 beautiful sons that have now become opiate addictions. And I give all thanks to doctors that can so easily prescribe opiates to people, and then just keep feeding to them as much as they request it by saying they're still in pain. My boys had multiple sport injuries, that lead them to require pain meds. And each of my boys became addicted to these pills. So much that when the doctor finally cut them off, their addiction had took over and they started finding them on the streets. But then when their funds begin to run out because these pills are costing them $5-$10 each one, well that's when the low life dealers introduce a much cheaper opiate that will last longer and get them higher..... And once on that one.... Well it's like inj'ing the devil right into your bloodstream. We are now suffering a battle that is devastating and exhausting. Now you may think drug users are all low life *****s. But opiate addicts come from all walks of life. And it's sad. And it's not all their fault or even all their choice. Opiates not your mental and physical makeup of your brain. And once you start taking these opiate pills, that change begins. Your body becomes dependent on it without even trying. It just happens. A person brain has a receptor to receive the shot of dopamine the brain releases anytime we feel or experience pleasure. The normal persons receptor receives the dopamine and your brain tells the rest of you that you feel good, you are happy, you smile, you relax. Well when someone takes an opiate pill, that process happens and you feel good. But as a person takes them, the body begins to become accustomed to them and that dose of 10mgs that used to make you feel good, no longer works. So you need to up your dosage, and that pattern continues and you end up needing to take more and more. In the meantime, inside your body/brain, your dopamine receptor is not big enough to handle the amount of large shots of dopamine the brain is releasing. And as our amazing body does, it's begins to create more receptors so it can handle all the shots. An opiate addicts brain to create 30+ extra receptors. And then what happens is those receptors never go away. So when the person that was just taking them for those multiple sports injuries (example) stops taking them.. They begin to stop feeling pleasure. Because now with so many extra receptors, when that person does something pleasurable, like being intimate or eating an ice cream cone, the body releases the correct proportion of dopamine related to that particular pleasure. And as it comes out, the original receptor and the 20-30 extra receptors try to split up that small shot of dopamine between them all.. Add because it's such a small amount, the brain/body can not experience pleasure that should come from that. The body begins to crave it, without you even realizing it. You soon find out that the only way to feel good again is by taking more opiates. Your high volume of doses on such a frequent pace, also begins to shut down your brains frontal lobe. That's the part of the rain that helps you make wise decisions. The part that tells you not to walk out in front of that speeding car. So from there, they do what they need to do to get them. Whether faking an injury, until that does t work anymore. Then you start trying to find them on the streets. Then you start buying them, you start feeling good again. Then you start needing more, to feel good. And then more and more. Until your bankroll just can't afford them anymore. Then you find out about a cheaper way. A way you can get more for your buck. And it will get you feeling good quicker, and for longer. And then the brain begins the pattern again. Making more receptors and it gets worse and worse. Harder and harder to feel good. You become more desperate to feel good, so you just keep buying more and more. Until now your bankroll can't afford the cheaper alternative. That's when the steal begins. To support the addiction. And with the frontal lobe paralyzed, you are now not only battling the addiction of needing to feed all those receptors so you can feel good, but you are doing without the luxury of having the part of your brain that should be there to tell you that it's a bad decision to keep doing it. Then you die of an overdose. Unless you are one of the 6-7% of opiate addicts that actually can get on a workable recovery program and stay on it long enough for those extra receptors to go dormant. That usually takes a year or two in most cases. And to go that long without feeling good is tougher than it sounds. Most relapse because the pain, depression and anxiety set in and become to overpowering. So they give in to it. And if they relapse, even if they thought just one more time, well those dormant receptors come back to life immediately and you are back to the beginning, as if you never stopped for a day. The the devilish process starts all over again. Unless of course you died from an overdose already. So when you want to compare a low life drug abuser with yourself... Maybe you should understand the facts before you judge. Because you just may be in the same boat, and not even realize you are. Opiates should be monitored and regulated at all times. That's my opinion. And I'm in pain everyday all day!!

Hey there Truthis the Truth or whatever, Ya know the truth can be tricky at times. Some folks, while actually believing in their heart they are being honest, are actually not. It's a strange thing, and I've seen it before. Some people actually have the ability to BELIEVE what they're saying and simply cannot for a second understand why others would doubt them. Like Charlie Manson thought he had the THE TRUTH, or Jim Jones and his disciples, that all killed themselves thinking old Jim was right, and was very honest. The real truth of these pills is this. I don't know if you work for the pharmaceutical manufacturer, or as a low level pharmacy assistant, or perhaps just have stock in the maker of these pills. But, this I know. What you are saying here is simply a lie and not truthful at all. 90% of people that have posted on here are not liars, or somehow delusional or fooling themselves as you are trying hard to imply. Many of us have been taking this drug for many years, and we do know the difference between the yellow and the white. Can all these people be wrong? No

The white ones are definitely weaker and have different side effects as far as I'm concerned. From what I understand, Watson pharmaceuticals was taken over by Actavis pharmaceuticals. Maybe they changed some of the inactive ingredients which may be causing alot of us to react differently, I don't know. I just wish they would go back to the yellow ones - I plan on switching away from the Watson's for now.

I have to share this, I could not get any relief, so I had my dr call in and dose it was medically necessary for name brand, which cost me 150, with ins. But I finally got some relief, so there is a difference. I don't know what's going on because my pharmacist told me there was no Sdifference, but I know how I feel, and it's NOT in my head. Just FYI.

I just want to add in another voice. I was given the whites for my refill after being on the yellow for almost a year. There is absolutely a huge difference with the whites. I have been feverish, nauseated, fatigued and in so much more pain with these. I thought I had caught a bug from my kids until this evening when I took a yellow I had from last month. I typically don't take more than 3 yellow in a day, but am allowed up to 6. I have taken 6 whites today with NO RELIEF. I finally switched to the old bottle and whatdyaknow... Relief. This is absolutely criminal if true.
A note about the feud on this forum: I, too, was a graduate with a degree in psychology. Julie - I believe you have some ulterior motives on this forum. Being in the medical profession, you believed you could come on here and be seen as knowledgable... That people would be just dying to hear the latest news from your professional research... That you would get the validation you so desperately crave. "I spoke to a colleague.." And "I'll let you know what I can find out" are signs that you want to be THE expert on here. This is likely a childhood issue.. You need to examine it if you are to remain in a helping profession. If you are looking for validation or respect, look elsewhere. You are not a chemist working at Watson, you are not a doctor, and you are not behaving as an adult. Munchausen syndrome by Proxy is coming to mind... Your husband might be taking too much attention, so you come on here to have people listen and give you attention. Please get help and do not ever belittle another person to gain credibility. It does not work.

E102 Tartrazine (yellow dye No. 5) side effects: Tartrazine is a synthetic yellow azo dye derived from coal tar and has been banned in several countries (Austria, Norway) because of serious side effects such as causing potentially lethal asthma attacks and nettle rash, hives, DNA damage, tumors of the thyroid and ADHD. *It's all subjective information.. How it truly "doesn't work, or does". They are definitely not another drug, just a different color. Supposedly Yellow 5 (same ingredients that's found in Mountain Dew by the way) was removed from the Watsons 853 for cost effectiveness and other reasons, otherwise the formula Remains the Same. I think that this idea that something that is a different Color must be different, is crazy. They came out with green ketchup a long time ago to show that color can affect the way a person perceives the taste of something or even the effectiveness of it. And Pepsi came out with Crystal Clear Pepsi back in the early '90's, to show that the caramel coloring used in Pepsi is there for aesthetic reasons not for a necessity. They use food coloring in tons of stuff. It makes red things redder and blue things blue and so forth. There is conversations and debates whether the dyes are dangerous in continuous consumption or not. But truthfully I believe it's all in everybody's head. People don't like change and when it comes to their drugs they don't want change. They know in their mind that this particular thing works so they don't want it to be messed with. Even from brand to brand.. inactive ingredients may vary but the active ingredients are the same. That's not to say that quality is equal between all manufacturers of drugs. But essentially People have their preference and that's just the way it is. I'm not disclaiming the idea that there's more behind this story then is revealed but I certainly don't think it's some kind of conspiracy or regulatory control imposed by any particular power. All a person would have to do is have the pill analyzed and the chemical structure is revealed. There's no way they can hide this, is my point.

Here's the scoop. Norco is the real name for the drug, for which it was 1st intended. After the lost of Patan, generics were allowed for this particular drug. Another thing was other pharmaceutical companies where allowed "their versions " Nevertheless, sometimes Doctors only want the brand name to be prescribed because they are better, therefore, pharmaceutical companies who make up their own "Norco " type pill, which have the same active ingredients, but not all the exact same "other" ingredients. Thats when Doctor's make the decision to write BRAND NAME on the prescriptions, instead of "generic" Many Doctors believe that THERE is a DIFFERENCE in their prescribing methods. Now that you heard this, Google it.
