White Watson 10mg 325 #853 (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Updated

I just recieved a new prescription of norco 853 10/325. The last script was yellow and the new ones are white. The pharmacist said that Watson changed the color but the pill is the same, does anyone know if this is accurate?

Charley,
If you do a refill, call around town and ask if they have the yellow Norco. Most won't but a few still carry it. I get it every month, but there's only one place left here that has them. The white ones are garbage. When I can no longer get the yellow, I'll have my doctor put me on some other pain med.

I have to agree I have been taking the yellow since 2006 and I just got a a refill of the whites (they tried to give them to me several years ago) and I went to my local pharmacist and he specifically ordered the yellow ones for me cuz I get them every month, now I'm in a different state and I have to go through the process all over again. Not only that but I moved from the East coast to the Western state and my insurance hasn't kicked in yet so I had to pay $125 for the office visit and $179 for my prescription, correct the white ones are not as effective at relieving the pain and it definitely will mess with your stomach and sometimes you'll get a headache. Maybe it's different for different people but I would have to agree with the majority of people on this post they should really do some investigation here and see why they're feeding us garbage.

I'm not a "regular", but i do have pain at times that the otc can't get under control...I'm actually a nurse of 20 yrs & am a strong supporter of generic prescriptions (saves $ & usually has the same effect) however... i have been prescribed lortab before & it made me so sick to my stomach that i couldn't take it & thought it was an allergy to hydrocodone....fast forward 8 yrs, i had surgery that my dr prescribed lortab elixer, i told him please don't, it makes me sick! Guess what...didn't make me sick at all! Couple yrs later got the yellow norco, was afraid again....NO STOMACH ISSUES WHAT SO EVER! So recently my pharmacy ran out of the yellow norco & asked if they could fill the remainder with white, i said sure. An hr after the very first white i got so sick! What the heck is up with that??? I have a reaction to one of the inactive ingredients?? No known allergies of any kind (other than south Texas weather! ) all day long i tell ppl that generic meds are just as good as "brand name", but now this has me wondering.....

Yes, I believe they add more of one of the inert ingredients or change some additive because I still have the same problem. The yellow narcotics never make me sick. The white ones always do.

Tried to help you out once, but they won't let it publish for some reason so you can read it....

Walgreens substituted the watsons with Amneal (interpharm) IP 110's for awhile while they were waiting for the white watsons to come in. I personally think the AMNEAL IP 110's were crap, made me tired, depressed & bloaty. I just recieved my refill with the new white watsons after I returned the IP 110'ss to my dr office and they seem to be just fine. I'm wondering when people say "white ones" they were talking about the substitute they used (which were mostly the ANMEAL brand) while the pharmacy was waiting for the new watsons that are also white. I'm experiencing good pain relief on the new, white WATSONS...will not ever get the AMNEAL IP 110's however, yuck, bad stuff.

All I can say is wow...I think everyone here would love to review the responses you get from your question regarding different manufacturers. I will be getting another script soon and want a different batch this time, I have been suffering for about a week till this past Tues when I paid 150 for the name brand Norco (which gave me relief for the first time) just to hear my pharmacist tell me there is no difference in the name brand and generic except the 150 vs 5 copay. I said well who in there right mind would pay for the name brand which is 145 difference if they were the same. I promise you they took something out of the generic brand. Go get the name brand Norco and prove me wrong.

Amanda & Julie, I agree that Watson should at least make both the old & the new Norco if that is what it's going to take! My husbands pharmacy stocks Qualitest & his are much more effective! I went back to his pharmacy for my new script even tho they are 7.5/325 bc I don't trust Watson brand anymore! I had never been through such hell as I was with the Watson whites. Amanda, you could ask your pharmacy to order you Qualitest instead of Watson & see what they have to say. If they say no, find another pharmacy, if possible. People have been calling diff pharms just to make sure they have something besides the Watson Norco. I don't blame them. I actually told my doc that doctors are the reason for this narcotic epidemic..he agreed. I said, " we can't write our own scripts and for years docs have handed out narcs like they were candy. Now we suffer!" I don't know what we are going to be able to do. Amanda, they should have never dismissed you from the pain clinic for refusing an injection you already had that worked. You can't even count on most PM places anymore, not that you ever really could! I have never been to one but have heard horror stories about some! SCARY!!

Thank you Julie, I hope so too. I can't really afford to keep paying 150 for one script when the $5 script was working just fine for over a year till this last time. If anyone finds another brand that works please let us all know :)

Christal....Qualitest makes a good Norco, lortab, whatever people call them. The 10/500 are pink and the 10/325 are white and both work well.

Dianne, your not losing your mind. The white's affects me the same way and I cannot take morphine.I wish I lived closer to Mexico,I would definitely go there.I have serous doubts the manufacturer will make the necessary changes. It's a nightmare for me,too.I would love to know how it goes for you by going to Mexico. Please keep us informed.

My thoughts are: stay away from Watson brand whether it be brand name or generic. 2. Tell your pharmacy that you want them to order a different brand such as Qualitest. If they won't comply, tell them you will have to take your business elsewhere because you cannot go thru this hell until Watson decides what it is going to do. Most pharms will order another brand, especially if they are losing customers. However, places like Walgreens & other big name pharms may not do this therefore they will lose a lot of customers. Will they care? I don't know. I transferred back to my old pharmacy but I am going to ask Walgreens if they will order the Qualitest lortab, especially if I need to be on them for a while. They are more convenient for me but if they won't get away from Watson, I have no choice but to go elsewhere.

I tried the named brand yellow "Norco", paid the big bucks for it. My opinion is that it is no more effective than the new white Norco, FYI.

Well said,Webhead.I couldn't agree with you more.Everything you've said makes sense.I've been in touch with the FDA and have lodged my complaint.I was informed there are many who have said the same thing. If enough people complain, there will be an investigation. This has been an absolute nightmare for me.My pain is about unbearable since taking the white's.Mexico is sounding better by the minute.Greed is an ugly thing and your right, this will come back to bite them where it hurts the most. The wallet.

Wow, that is pure greed then, so the old generic yellow 853 were better than the "brand" name ones you just purchased?

Watson just ruined what they have built, doubt they care as now they are Activis, or Actis***....

christal,I couldn't have said it better myself.Thank you. These insults and name calling needs to stop.We are adults here and we are here for the same reasons.I hope the complaint I filed with the FDA helps. There needs to be an investigation. No one can make me believe it's all in our heads.

Hi Tracy,I'm so happy you don't have to go to pm! Good for you.I sent an earlier message to you but I guess it didn't go through.I'm sorry your facing surgery again, but if this makes a difference in your pain level then it will be so worth it.Please keep me informed as well as the rest of us who understand and care.I'm so proud of you! You go girl! Thank you for letting me know about this.

I agree with you they feel less effective. I think they changed more than the color and are just saying that it was the color.
They were still not as bad as the mallinkrodt brand

I also found a pharmacy who has qualatest. They don't have my other medications so its a huge pain in the but. Being in pain and dealing with all this is very hard.

How do I call watson and complain about the new white ones?

a little side note the moth before these white ones came out I went to my normal pharmacy (CVS)and they gave me the other s***ty white ones from the brand that starts with a "M" I said oh I can't take theses I need watson. Then they said we no longer have those. I said well can I transfer my RX to the store across town and she said no the whole company is not going to carry them anymore.
