Finally!!! No it's not Drixoral but on terms of ingredients it's contains the same (both ingredients we need: Pseudoephedrine and Dexbrompheniramine). It required a bit of shopping but here it is: Claritin 12 + 10ml of Dimetapp syrup (at once) and I get the exact same effect as Drixoral. I was so sick with allergies in the past week and now I can breathe again and I'm not sneezing anymore! Hurray!

Singerita, I am going to try this for sure. It's the Dexbrompheniramine that I need, personally speaking - the antihistamine. That's what i've been looking for, because that's the only thing Drixoral has that the others don't, so it MUST be the thing that makes it work, right? THANK YOU! I'll report back on my progress.

I've been using drixoral for years, I too am having a problem finding it here in Canada, Saskatchewan to be exact, I've talked to many pharmacies with no result, no one seems to know why they stopped handling it out where to get it... This really sucks, as it was the only product that worked for me.

You can still buy Drixoral in Canada. I bought mine mail order. I've also purchased it in Victoria, BC while visiting there. I agree 100% that it's the best.

Interesting. I bought this and it is not as if this CVS Allergy Relief is so cheap!! it is not! And no Claritin did not help me either.

Odd, I can't find one on-line pharmacy that sells this any longer in Canada. I'm in America and like many here, we want our Drixoral and I think it's plain wrong that we have to suffer and hear the lies regarding the company that made it.

I spoke to a Bayer Canada customer service representative today and was told they have been receiving many calls regarding the discontinuance of Drixoral. Please call them at 800-622-2937 to voice your concerns. The customer service representative told me that "you never know if they may bring Drixoral back??"

I have had a lot of luck and combined three different meds. One behind the counter, no script needed and two direct from the dollar store. I use 30mg of pseudoephedrine HCI (one pill), one equate daytime cold and flu (replaces dayquil liquicaps) and one cough and cold pill (replaces the Muscinex dm). All of these together have about the same meds as one drixoral. Make sure to use non-drowsy and you should be fine. I can't say it is safe, I can't say you won't have a negative reaction. I can say I take this cocktail and it works for me. You may have to look into it a bit and see what you need to tweak to get it to work for you. No matter what though, it seems to take the place of drixoral for me. Oh, and it costs me about 6 bucks for a months worth of stuff. Cuts the costs in at least a quarter.

I have found you can buy the antihistamine in Drixoral, dexbrompheniramine maleate from Poly Pharmaceuticals under the name ALA-HIST IR through Walgreens in 4 hour tabs and have your Dr. prescribe 12 hour pseudoephedrine tabs. I am running out of Drixoral and going to give this a shot. I have an inner ear disorder and been trying several new ones to help with my vertigo. Nothing has helped but Drixoral. I will probably become disabled as I cannot stand up straight without it unless this works. Good luck everyone and please if you find you can buy it anywhere, please, please let me know. I wonder about Mexico but have not been able to find anything helpful on the internet.

I called the same number today and was told Drixoral cold and allergy tabs were discontinued due to an outdated mfg process and low demand. Also they still get many calls about it. I left my name with the request they please bring it back! This week an old 2007 tab worked better for me than anything else!

These were the best! I've searched forever. The only thing that ever worked.

Re: Tellusthetruth (# 65) Expand Referenced Message

There is a small pharmaceutical company (Poly Pharmaceuticals) now making several OTC medications containing Dexbrompheniramine Maleate. Their products aren't slow-release like Drixoral was, so you only get 4 hours of dosage per pill instead of 12, but it works the way I remember Drixoral working. You can order it directly from the manufacturer's website: alahist.com

I live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, and as of December 2015, I can no longer buy Drixoral over the counter. The pharmacist says that the round green tablets have been discontinued. I have been taking one a day for over thirty years, and as noted by many on this thread, it is the only thing that works to get rid of my sinus headaches. The pharmacist did indicate there is a behind-the-counter product called Eltor that has 120 mg of pseudoephedrine, but she would not give it to me for ongoing use without my doctor's permission. Does anyone have any other information on the status of Drixoral?

I had heard that someone had figured out a way to reformulate Drixoral so that they could not be converted into methamphetamine but have not heard of any further info of when it would be available

Thanks for your reply. I bought Claritin today since it has the pseudophedrine in it and so far in half a day it's been better than others I tried over the past week or so. I will look for Eltor 120. I took that med when i was younger but i can't remember if it worked or nit.
