When Do The Side Effects Of Trintellix/brintellix Go Away? (Top voted first)
UpdatedI recently was prescribed Trintellix by my psychiatrist for anxiety and depression. I told her I cannot be on a medication that will cause weight gain and or fluid retention. Since starting this medication I've been on it for two days I feel really weird, lazy and like I just don't want to do anything. Low mood. I honestly have zero appetite, and my cognitive thinking is very slow. I honestly feel like I am on a super low dose of Vyvanse. She also gave me samples of Viibryd but I heard that medication is notorious for weight gain on here and I am scared to take it. Did anyone else have these side effects when starting this medication? Did they go away? Also, if this isn't the medication for me, does anyone else know what others are good that will not cause horrible weight gain / water retention? Thanks in advance.

Those can be normal side effects of this medication, along with dizziness, headache, and mood changes, according to FDA reports. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for them to taper off, and go away. If they are not gone by then, you should inform your physician.
Viibryd carries the same side effect risks.
I've had good luck with Prozac, since I am a heart and blood pressure patient, so I can't risk fluid retention, and weight gain.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Hi. I’ve been on Trintellix for nearly 4 years. I didn’t notice anything for the first year. I had DNA and genetic studies done, too, so we knew for sure I could take it. We increased my dose from 10mg to 20mg, and eventually, 30 mg. I firmly believe you must take it for 3-6 months or longer, to know if or how it’s going to work for you. Didn’t they tell you it takes a good three weeks for any antidepressant to work? I haven’t had any change in weight or appetite. I am not depressed. It has worked wonders for me. I actually enjoy life, at 68, in spite of the pains that come with aging. Good luck with your future decisions. God help you decide what to do. Don’t let your mind run away with you. Give it time.
