I am Diagnosed with an Alopecia areata and prescribed to use persivate on my head where there are patches. Am advised to use for unlimited time and my doubt is what if the medication would bring about worse side effects on my skin and hair when used for a long time?

This is a steroid, so there are no guarantees that it will work to stimulate hair growth.
The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin irritation, dryness, flaking, redness, and acne.
Are you on any other medications?
It may help, but the only way to know is by actually trying it.
