What Is The Real Amount Of Codeine In Vicodin Vs. Hydrocodone

I have chronic spine and hip pain from scoliosis and fibromyalgia. I took Vicodin for several years back when it did not have a generic and it did a good job for pain relief. The generic, Hydrocodone, supposedly has the same exact ingredient of codeine in the 5-300 cap, but does not give me pain relief. Do you think if I switched to Tylenol #3, which does NOT have a generic, that it's level of codeine would work better for pain relief? I am now very suspicious of generics!

Vicodin contains a combination of Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Tylenol #3 contains a combination of Codeine + Acetaminophen (Tylenol).

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.
