What Is The Best Xanax Generic 2017? (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I'm going to get my script soon, ive been taking the Actavis brand (Walgreens) and I asked if my next refill it could be the Greenstone g3722. My dosage I'd 2mg. I has the Mylan xr but would say the ACTAVIS is better. Should I stick to Actavis or go for Greenstone? I haven't tried Sandoz nor Dava.

Re: EDDY (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

FYI.. I have now tried 3 different generic alprazolam 1 mg... by choice... The pharmacist works with me and gives me the options as to which ones they can order in.

Re: SayWhat (# 31) Expand Referenced Message

So in this hypothetical are you saying you'd rather have Mylan brand over better quality generic alprazolam!? lol
"less is best" and Mylan is definitely less, however NOT the best.

Re: EDDY (# 28) Expand Referenced Message

I here what you are saying. But let me throw this hypothetical out there as food for thought you. SCENARIO 1: A person is ordered Xanax 1mg Q 4 HRS. Let's say the person is getting Sandoz or Actavis generic. The quality is good enough that their effectiveness last about 8 hrs so the person would need to take less. SCENARIO 2: A person is ordered the same thing as above, takes Mylan brand whose effectiveness starts wearing off after two hours causing the person to take it more often to get the same effects of a quality generic brand. I am only saying that for some people it works for them to investigate the various generic brands. If your insurance is paying why not ask for the best version of the best. I believe that. "less is best, but more gets you sicker". Just having a friendly debate. No ill will intended. :)

Re: EDDY (# 11) Expand Referenced Message

For some not all. Xanax helps me and I have no issue with sickness, addiction with Xanax. Recovering opioids dependency and very transparent about it. With Xanax I take it PRN and have no issues.

The blue, oblong tablet you've identified is a generic for Zoloft (sertraline HCl) 50mg, manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma USA.

Re: SayWhat (# 27) Expand Referenced Message

I've said this before and by the way I'm only in two pill subforums here. The problem with Xanax is when you are forced to discontinue it and can become very sick. Once one has a large amount of spare Xanax brands are of little concern. I take less now that I have more, go figure? Its a sickness having to rush to the Pharmacy every month, part of what Xanax does!

Re: Melissa R MD Advocate Medical Group (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

Please, you don't have to be so harsh in your delivery. Still, you are right in your information. I myself just started researching this very thing regarding different drugs manufacturer. And I do it for my blood pressure medications also. I never heard about Greenboro until I researched it. I did read that it was closest to the brand name but in recent years that has changed. I have been taking the Actavis Xanax and it's working ok, but I am going to give Greenboro a try.

A lot of people don't realize that different drugs from different manufacturers vary in strength and how quick the effects kick in. All these various manufacturers wouldn't be around and competing if everything was 100 percent the same. The same thing with OTC drugs. I buy the name brand Extra Strength Excedrin instead of the store brand because it works faster and it last longer. You have good information and I wouldn't mind hearing more to educate myself. But I have been on MedChat's various forums and I am familiar with EDDY. I Personally don't think you had to go in so hard at her. Heck, it's like you went straight for the jugular and it was mean and rude. BTW, please DO NOT RESPOND TO ME BY CALLING ME A **** BECAUSE I ASSURE YOU I AM NOT. With that said keep sharing your information because I want to know. Just please be a little more tactful with your response. I think your information which is valuable will be better received. :)

Re: EDDY (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

Sorry to tell you, but she is right regarding her imformation. But I absolutely agree that her delivery was horribly wrong. Still, it doesn't hurt to learn something new even though the messenger and the delivery don't mesh with you. :)

Re: EDDY (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

A lot have to do with a person's prescription plan. With my previous plan Express Scripts I was paying $3 for 60 Actavis Xanax pills ( a month supply because it's 1 tab 2x a day as needed). My prescription plan changed this year to Optimum RX and now I pay $1.67 for the same thing.

Re: EDDY (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

You just proved his point. Of course they are going to hang up on you (lol..cough, cough) because they don't want consumers to know their trade secret. They want us to continue bury our head in the sand. It's not just prescription meds either. The brand name OTC Unisom works better and faster than the Walgreens brand. Hey, sometimes it's good to listen and take pause because the companies do not have our best interest in mind. BTW, as a FYI, some doctors are fighting a new bill that is now in the House of Representatives. If passed it would allow pharmacists to outright deny filling a customer's opioid prescription. In other words the pharmacies would have more power. However, the customers have the right to request the pharmacist follow up with their doctor and it would allow the doctor to disclose that it's medically necessary for illnesses such as; Cancer. The DEA/FDA are really pushing back that opioids are not good for long-term use, or chronic pain management.

Re: David (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

You and Eddy are wrong. I just went through this with Walgreens. Sometimes they have six different manufacturers of the same drugs. But they filled the one that they want to unless the customer request otherwise. And also, if they only carry a particular brand you can request another manufacturer brand and they will order it. They were filling my metoprolol with a certain brand and I requested a different brand and they told me to let them know at least three days before I run out so they could order it because they don't generally carry the brand I want. A lot has changed in 30 years and if we don't do our due diligence in researching we are missing out.

Re: EDDY (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

It's not a matter of getting excited. I myself just realized that drugs from various manufacturers can be different. And I'm not just talking about benzodiazepine. I'm taking meloxicam and I was getting it at Walgreens the LUPIN brand, and it wasn't doing anything for me. I started researching reviews from various manufacturers and then I told Walgreens that I wanted my meloxicam from CIPLA and it worked better than the Lupin brand in managing my pain. The same thing with the Lidocaine patches. Mylan brand IMO was garbage. I changed to the Actavis brand and huge difference. I am taking the Actavis Xanax also and I read about the Greenboro, or whatever it's called. I read it was better, meaning closer to the brand, but the quality went down. So, I am sticking with the Actavis brand of Xanax because it works. I figure if my insurance is paying these pharmacies then it's in my best interest to get the manufacturer brand that works for me. Yes, surprisingly manufacturers Brands makes a difference. I find that meds from Actavis are pretty good. Any med I take now I research the manufacturer such as: my blood pressure meds. I don't play around with that. There is nothing wrong in anyone doing their due diligence in checking out feedback regarding various manufacturers. Believe me, some of these manufacturers push pharmacists to sell their brand so as customers we have to advocate for ourselves.

Re: EDDY (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Just came across this. Sorry to say you are wrong. I go to Walgreens and they mainly deal with Lupin for my b/p meds, Actavis for Xanax and Mylan for a muscle relaxer. I told them what generic brand I want and they said as long as I tell them at least 3 days before I run out of the meds they can order the one I want. Plus I threatened to transfer all my scripts to another pharmacy.

Re: JayRy50 (# 15) Expand Referenced Message

I fully agree with you here. Sandoz are one of the best xanax generics in my opinion. Dava are also quite effective as well. I've had greenstone .5mg (peach) but it's been years ago. The green Dava (s 902) 1mg footballs worked great when I was getting them. My pharmacy now carries Sandoz (gg 258 blue) and I have no complaints.

One brand I did try and found to be ineffective was Mylan 1mg (round, blue). I haven't tried any other generic xanax manufacturers or any ER formulations.

Re: Hamster (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I find that although some are garbage, and some are the best.... It seems to me that accross the spectrum with all the benzodiazapines, you can't go wrong with Sandoz
