What Is The Generic Equivalent Of "brand Xanax"? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Been on BRAND XANAX FOR 20 YRS-PANIC ATTACKS/SEVERE ANXIETY; TAKE 9MGS/DAY AND AS NEEDED FOR PANIC ATTACKS. USED TO TAKE UPJOHN, now PFIZER BRAND - both said XANAX 1.0 mg; BLUE FOOTBALL.

TRYING TO FIND CLOSEST EQUIVALENT IN "GENERIC" BECAUSE INSURANCE NO LONGER COVERS "BRAND XANAX" AND IT IS 2.80$ A PILL. TRIED 3 GENERIC ALPROZALAM'S AND 2 DID NOTHING, 1 WAS JUST SEDATING....

TRIED SANDOZ GG TOP/258 BOTTOM/ACTIVIS R039 LONG YELLOW BAR - 2.0MG/AND GREENSTONE GENERIC (PFIZER)... SANDOZ WAS VERY SEDATING AND DIDN'T STOP PANIC OR ANXIETY.

WHICH GENERIC ALPROZALAM HAS "SAME OR CLOSEST AMOUNT - OR MORE OF THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT" AND LASTS 4-6 HRS IN 1.0MG?

DOC'S BEHIND ME AND SO IS MY GREAT PHARMACIST WHO ORDERS EVERY ONE HE CAN FIND - BUT NONE THAT WORK THE SAME. I CAN'T AFFORD 800$/MONTH! PLEASE PLEASE HELP - ON DISABILITY AND THEY TOOK ALL THE BENZO'S OFF FORMULARY...DON'T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE DOING...GOING W/O FOOD & CLOTHES & GAS JUST TO AFFORD MY MEDS...THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH!

I do not believe you build a tolerance and need to take more though. I almost died from Xanax and now take 33% less. People become obsessed with their Xanax and much of this is in their mind, mainly where will I find my next dose. Sure there might be a better company out there or a pill with fillers that might not agree with you but for every -20% pill you might run into in theory you see a +20% pill

What generic form of xanax works the best? Dava doesn't work. Can anyone share their experience with taking the many different generic forms of xanax? Was on brand name for several years and they worked great. Years later was switched to Sandoz and no complaints. Now on Dava brand imprint s 902 and they are horrible. Have to take more pills and im still not getting the same results. HELP! I'm already stressed-shouldn't have to stress about the fact that legally, all generics ARE NOT REQUIRED to have the same amount of the active ingredient in the brand name.

Just bc you ‘believe’ that tolerance doesn’t develop in benzodiazepine use certainly does not make it true. In fact, you are totally wrong. Also, for you to generalize about everyone worrying about their next pill ..... is also a load of crap. You couldn’t be more wrong for those of us that are suffering from diagnosed anxiety disorders. Around 85-90% of mentally ill people that are prescribed xanax take it as prescribed and do not become addicts. They do however become sensitized to It and dependent on it. Addiction and dependence are 2 totally different things. My case in point. I’ve been taking Xanax for 11 years and my dr started me out on 8mg a day for severe anxiety and panic. I’ve tapered down to 4mg a day but only take it a few times a week now-as needed. Stupidity, I used to take it everyday bc I was following dr.s orders. I heard that it was not necessary to take four pills a day but I am aware that anyone taking benzo’s for any length of time over three weeks should not stop on their own. I have a surplus of over 55 Xanax right now and I can refill it in 10 days. Stop stereotyping people and lumping everyone in one category especially since you really have no idea what you are talking about. I’ve been on many medications and have never had a problem like this except for with my thyroid medication. Medications affect every individual differently-so what works for me might not work for someone else. But everyone has a better chance for the medicine to work more evenly for everyone what it is the brand name. Every generic changes the recipe a little bit Making it a little less stable and predictable then the brand name or The generic that you could become accustomed to. Brand names have rigorous FDA guidelines During the research and development phase and of course during the clinical trials. Generics don’t have to do any of that and are allowed to stray from the exact ingredients from the brand name drugs. The different fillers and other extraneous ingredients added to generic pills do effect and can alter how the body processes and absorbs medications.

I also wanted to correct you on a couple of other things Eddy- if you’re talking about the rumor that generic pills very play plus or -20% that is a completely false claim. Also, if you nearly died from taking Xanax then what doctor in his right mind would give it to you again? Sidenote – they developed benzodiazepines because the air to anxiety meds they used before that were barbiturates and they really did kill people by accident old overdose and purposeful overdose. I have 3 doctors in my immediate family and I was a nurse-so I’ve done my homework. A close friend of mine was one of the research doctors it in my age that conducted the research and clinical tomorrow is on Xanax. He actually didn’t think that it was a good idea to put it on the market. You should really try to fact check your stuff before you write it. I try to but I make mistakes sometimes. It’s just hard for mentally ill people to automatically be stereotyped as addicts because they need a medication to get through life. Like I said, moderation is key and only take it when you need it.

I was totally wrong and misinformed on several websites that said generics can be plus or -20% difference in dosage strength. Simply not true and we really need to get the message out there this is false information and I see it everywhere. Peace- having a stressful day today – haven’t taken it is in excellence last Thursday so back to the DAVA brand that suck.

OH WOW!! I never realized that there was less active ingredients in generic..I thought it was only the fillers that were different! I've never been on name brand Xanax..only Alprazolam. I'm on the lowest..0.25 @ 5x per day & it IS sedating, although a couple of times I required more than that & I got the opposite effect...not sedating & it made me angry too...weird! So are you saying that brand name XANAX doesn't have the sedating or anger side effects in you?? I'm gonna have to look into that!! Thank you Theresa & Verwon.

All 3 bars are 2mgs of alorazolam. They don’t make 2.5mg or 3mg in the instant release formula. You should probably do a little more research because you are giving out wrong information.

P.S. Both "Upjohn" AND "Pharmacia" have been taken under the wing of Pfizer...Pfizer makes Brand Xanax & Generic - Greenstone - Gxxx - football; same color.

According to 1 Pharm "recipe" is same; but "Active" Ingredient is LESS as I noted 0 change - and I tried many times; even purchased 1 mos supply! Dumped them!

Your a medical professional and have all your info mixed up, that's not safe for anyone under your care. Also if you can't spell the category benzodiazepines correctly then how do you know what mg or even the proper prescribing procedures of scheduled or even non scheduled medications. Go back and read your DSM & PDR.

You are like an Alprazolam Buff. An expert of nothing. Your mind is diseased and the sad thing is YOU CAN'T TELL. It would be best for anyone who is obsessed in what brand they can get from which store to get off Alprazolam as soon as possible, if not sooner?

I am a health professional, and will brief you on the psychological ailments that you are unaware of. What you do know is the extensive use of the benzodiazapam . I'm sure abuse has also been a part of your routine. It's ok. If you're concerns and problems are sincere , your earnest quest will land you success. The physicians, hopefully psychiatrists, are allowing you to carry an unnecessarily extensive treatment for your anxiety and other related issues, such as panic attacks and others perhaps you need not mention.

After a prolonged used of tranquilizers , Xanax etc, in your case- the psychological genius (your unconscious brain) puts your body on auto pilot: that is, you become dependent and don't even recognize it. I can tell in your text, and writing style: have you noticed? However besides the point: your best approach to treatment is already there: your dependency. You've mastered it . Asking for different brand names ETC ; convicted that alprazolam is the only way. I am not discounting your problem, I give you reasonable doubt. But you have to ask yourself one thing: am I searching to cure myself ? Or to look for treatment ? Treatment is life long. You will find an endless supply of brand names and will follow the advice of others and try them all, just as you commented that you were happy to learn about the different brand names. UPJOHN is one of the leading ones, but alprazolam is alprazolam . Brand names matter not too much. Your exposure has desensitized your reward pathways and seizures and panic attacks; let alone anxiety and mood swings, have become hypersensitive and dangerous.

extended release 3mg or 2mg , daily for a few weeks(GIVEN IF you truly have been taking this for a long time) would be a good way to taper out. XR will help the chemical in your blood to become stabilized . And gradually inshallah you will have a clear level of consciousness. Remember to NEVER abruptly stop (the dependency is there I know you most likely will never give this up), but immediate cessation will create your electro-chemistry to seize. And brain to falsify memory and increase anxiety.

So.
What now?

it's your decision. If indeed your genetically or otherwise prone to a lifelong use. Then generic Alprazolam would work fine. However, may you wish to stop. You will have no problem in doing so. Tapering off might take weeks, months, but a year or two is an addiction problem. Oxy/hydro are narcotics and are not benzodiazapams (Xanax family). Mostly for pain, especially the opioids . Sensitize yourself again. And gradually slow it all down, you need not to stop all the way, but control the chemical , let it not control you. "Ashraf'l Mak'h looooQ" use it. That's the best.

And remember mixing opioids with benzodiazapams will shake the the tectonic plates of your equilibrium . Steadfast, gradual, and with calm nerves- you can have this all. Peace is within your soul, not in Xanax
