What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Macr 100 Mg? (Top voted first)
UpdatedI started taking nitrofur macr 100 mg 3 days ago & am 18 weeks pregnant & now have a cold. Is it a side effect from the antibiotic or just that pregnant women are more prone to getting sick?

Hi cvalerie,
First off, I would like to mention that the user guidelines for this medication note the following precuations (regarding Nitrofurantoin and pregnancy):
"You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Nitrofurantoin while you are pregnant. Do NOT take Nitrofurantoin if you are at term (38 to 42 weeks pregnant), if you are about to go into labor, or if you are in labor. Nitrofurantoin is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed infants younger than 1 month old while you are taking Nitrofurantoin. If your child is older than 1 month, check with your doctor and discuss whether there's any possible risks to your baby."
Moving forward, I have a strong inclination (based on research, television, and watching other's personal experiences) that "getting sick" is extremely common in pregnant women and should even be expected to some degree.
Never the less, Nitrofurantoin may be responsible for additively increasing certain aspects of this "sick feeling" and even presents side effects that are indistinguishable from your own perceived feeling of being sick. A few of its common side effects are nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Other, more severe side effects of Nitrofurantoin, should be reported to your doctor immediately. These may include: Persistant cough, fever or chills, chest pain, excessive tiredness, difficulty breathing, and muscle weakness.

I hope this info helps!
Thank you for the info :) My doctor just told me to take it because the risks of untreating a bladder infection or uti is a lot worse than taking the medication. But what I want to know is if any pregnant women had lost their baby because of this antibiotic?
I was diagnosed with a unitary tract infection 4 days ago. The doctor prescribed the pain medication for 2 days and antibiotic Cipro for 7 days. I have been taking the Cipro for 3 days and seem like the pain go away and feel a little better. Then the doctor office call and said I need to switch the antibiotic because Cipro is resistance to the bateria. Now I'm taking Nitrofur Marc 100 mg for 7 days. I been taking 2 pills so far and feel hard of breathing and muscle weakness. Should I stop using this Nitrofur Marc and switch back to Cipro? Last year I had bladder infections several times and took Cipro, it seem working for me. I don't stand why the Cipro is resistance to the bateria. Please help. Thank you.
