What Are Good Manufacturers Of Sertraline That People Find Effective (Page 2)
UpdatedI've been taking Zoloft then Sertraline for twenty years and I'm SURE the brand is not the same. For the past few years, I've become very depressed again, but never thought it might be because of a lousy manufacturer (as happened with Lorazepam when Watson was bought by lousy Actavis). Does anyone know a good, effective BRAND of Sertraline that has helped them a lot with depression?
I order from Costco but can't figure out the brand on the label - will call tomorrow and ask. What a jungle this is becoming. Just not right.
Re: Deb (# 13)
I just called Pfizer and I cannot get their discount card because I have insurance!
Re: SuishiQ (# 21)
My insurance company won't cover the name brand. So Pfizer gave me a discount card.
I was on name brand zoloft for over 6 years before my pharmacy switched me without my knowing to sertraline, manufactured by lupin. I felt horrible dizziness, headaches, and nausea for weeks and then it pooped out recently. My insurance denied coverage for the name brand, so I call themed up and they said they will cover it but with a preauthorization from my doctor which she is doing now.
I never had any issues with brand name zoloft. When I began taking sertralin manuf by lupin it didn't work the same way. I mean the panic attacks are less but the anxiety is always still there when it wasn't before
Re: SuishiQ (# 21)
Try calling your insurance company and telling them that the generic gives you side effects. I did this and they told me to get my doctor to fill out a preauthorization form and fax it over and they'll cover it
Re: Wendus (# 20)
I've been on lupin for years now and it didn't work like the brand name zoloft. It works differently for different people but my experience hasn't been good. I can move my head a little and I get dizzy, I'm anxious, and I feel nauseated most of the time. Name brand didn't do this.
Re: April (# 25)
Consider trying Sertraline made by Aurobindo but at a lower dose than you normally take. Call your local pharmacies to see who carries Aurobindo. I think some of the problems we are having with these generics is the dose is higher than the original Zoloft. You will know within a day or two if a lower dose decreases the anxiety/irritability side effect. Get 50 mg pills so you can break them in half to fine tune the dose that's right for you. Unfortunately, Pfizer stopped making their generic version of Zoloft under the company named Greenstone.
Re: Tony (# 26)
That's really too bad. I actually asked my pharmacist about greenstone today and he told me to call a few days before my refill and he would try to get sertraline from a different manufacturer. I also called my insurance company and they agreed that they would cover the name brand zoloft with a doctor's preauthorization. Hopefully the brand name will get me back on track. Thanks for your response, it was helpful and it's nice knowing that I'm not crazy when everyone looks at me like I am because I begin ranting about how generics are different from name brands, lol
Re: SuishiQ (# 21)
Will your insurance cover the Zoloft? If it's over $130/month call Pfizer's Patient Services back and let them know.
Re: Sara Z (# 18)
I have had this issue, aurobindo was working great and then one month got the accord refill instead which after a month was terrible for me. Went back to aurobindo and slowly felt better. So out of fear of this keep happening I switched to Zoloft. I have to say that I think the aurobindo generic worked better for me. I have noticed after 2 months not feeling as good. Wondering has anyone else had this experience? I hate to risk the eneric game but I have not been feeling great, and I hate this depression pain!
Re: Darkene (# 29)
If Aurobindo's version of Sertraline works for you, find a pharmacy that stocks it. You can call the pharmacies in your area and ask if they stock Sertraline made by Aurobindo. I can tell within a day if a company's generic Sertraline is giving me side effects including agitation, restlessness, irritability, physical tension, insomnia. Zoloft is a very smooth SSRI. I don't know why the generic pills give me the symptoms similar to Serotonin Syndrome but the FDA needs to label all generic Sertraline with a WARNING. How many people feel terrible and don't know it's due to generic Sertraline? How many people have given up hope because they blame themselves and not the "bad medicine" for making them unable to function? Is it time for a Class Action Lawsuit against the companies that make these generics?
I can't stand when people say generics are the same. They are not!!!!! Aurobindo gets ride of depression, but it also speeds me up, North Star brand does nothing for me except drop my blood sugar. Yes. Ssri cause hypoglycemia for some.
I am looking as well for a good generic
