What Pharmacy Carries Greenstone Xanax (Page 4)

Updated

My longtime pharmacy stopped carrying the Greenstone generic of Xanax. How could I find another local pharmacy that does carry them?

When I needed a specific manufacturer of Adderall I contacted Teva’s customer service phone line & asked them to tell me which pharmacy they distributed to in a 100 mile radius of my zip code. They could look and tell me, unfortunately it was during a shortage so there were none, but they saved me calling pharmacies all day.

Please don’t called call a bunch of pharmacies, they are so busy right now and so short staffed.

I can tell you that CVS and Rite Aid use the same distributor, and Walgreens and Walmart use the same distributor, so if you do have to check individual pharmacies I would bet that if Walmart doesn’t have them Walgreens won’t have them. But I would try contacting the manufacturer themselves. They helped me 15 years ago when I needed info.

Re: EDDY (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

My doctor specifies “Do Not Dispense Aurobindo” on my adderall scripts because they make (made) counterfeit adderall. It worked.

They can try to just specify only dispense greenstone, the problem is that the chain pharmacies can only get what they get, they don’t special order anymore. I mean try, you might get a nice pharmacy manager, but I’m pretty sure that the chain pharmacies can only order from who they order from.

Your Doctor has every authority to specify which brand works for you, from being a patient and knowing your history!!! However, that doesn't mean that CVS will honor it. As of last year, Corporate has only ordered in large quantities from the cheapest manufacturers of alprazolam!!!! CVS will fill with what they have, so be careful and check brand before you pay or leave the store!! Walgreen's is excellent in ordering your brand you desire. Been there.. done that!!

Re: Dutchy (# 64) Expand Referenced Message

You are mistaken. A Doctor can specify that the brand name drug is only to be dispensed, but a doctor can not order with any degree of authority that the pharmacy must fill with that generic brand you just really like. I will say I had a certain medicine from Greenstone, and the pharmacist did say if you provide the NDC # of the generic product it is possible to attempt to get it for you

Now see I only like the Teva Adderall which is made by the same company in the USA that makes Adderall. But I like the Xanax from Aurobine They would for me but I have to admit I never compared it to greenstone but the Actavis that everyone says is great I HATE they do not work... I think it is about body chemistry so it is different for everyone.

Re: EDDY (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

This is inaccurate. Your doctor can specify a specific manufacturer on your prescription. Just save yourself and your doc time and make sure the pharmacy they’re sending it to has it in stock. Greenstone generic Xanax and Teva generic Adderall are made by the companies that make the brand name so it’s the closest in inactive ingredients to the brand drug. My doc writes for example Alprazolam (Greenstone MFG Medically Necessary) or Amphetamine Salts (Teva Medically Nexessary) and if it is written like that they can’t fill it with anything else. But be aware of that if they don’t have it your doc will have to send a new prescription without the (medically necessary) designation.

I'll say it again...
The Doctor can't specify what brand of generic Xanax is to be ordered? That is between the pharmacy and their distributor. The doctor can specify the brand name version of the medicine is to be filled, however your insurance company may not pay despite what is ordered

I can tell you that Walgreens and Walmart use the same wholesale distributor, and Rite Aid and CVS use the same. So if Walmart does not have that brand Wallgreens will not either. That might help cut down on any kind of individual calls you make.

But what I did during one of the Adderall shortages was that I’ve found a customer service or a sales phone number on the website of the drug manufacturer, Teva was the one I was looking for, and I contacted them and asked them which pharmacies they have distributed to within 100 miles of my ZIP Code. They were able to look that up and tell me that there was none which saved me a whole bunch of phone calls. But I would try that first and see if they can tell you who they sell two in your area.

Also if you have any mom and pop pharmacies they tend to be more willing to order special orders for people. The chain pharmacies usually don’t allow them to do that.

Re: EDDY (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

my pharmacy told me yesterday that they tried to order the Greenstone xanax but couldn’t get it -said it was “back ordered.” They have ordered it for me many times. Called Pfizer number on I Pad and she said that at their level it is being produced. I have allergies and sensitivities and have to find a pharmacy that has this brand.

I'd suggest calling the independent pharmacies in your area. The Safeways, Raleys, etc. are less likely to have it.

I don't know if you will read this, since I'm responding in 2023, but I was struck by your statement about having anxiety about not being able to find a medication you've relied on for your anxiety. I'm going through the same thing right now. Hope the solution you found was a good one. Any suggestions would be welcome. Stay safe.

Re: Xanax expert (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

You are absolutely right. The pharmacy tries to push the cheaper brand for their payout, and charge your insurance company the same amount.

Re: Richard Gregorek (# 77) Expand Referenced Message

Ok so you didn’t ask them which pharmacy in your area they’ve sold their products to? They can tell you which pharmacy buys them. I have found that Walmart and Walgreens use the same distributor and then Rite Aid and CVS use the same distributor, but they should be able to tell you who they have sent products to.
