Can certain over the counter medications or prescription medications cause a false positive for Methamphetamine in a blood test?

Hi im trying to see if you can get a dirty u/a from taking vicks day quil servere cold and flu it has acetaminophen 325 mg dextromethorphan hbr 10 mg
Guaifenesin 200 mg and phenylephrine hci 5 mg.

Thank you very much, had a DUI blood test and it came back .03 on alcohol. But on the drug part flunked every kind they tested for, and I don't do drugs.

your generic zantac is what causes the false positive. my husband is awaiting a knee replacement and got referred to a pain management clinic for a false positive drug test for methamphetamine and has since failed another urine screen for meth, so i have done some extensive research on all the medications he has been prescribed and generic zantac is the most probable medication as well as the most common prescribed among those who have tested falsely positive for meth.

The same thing just happened to me .i passed my lab tests but the disposable cups shows dirty for meth.i stopped taking the product.

Thats so true. I go to a methadone clinic and their tests are so cheap and people there are doing good and stayin clean but because i have hep c i dont metabolize things like someone who is healthier and littler than me but i have been prescribed xanax since i was 13 yrs old. I'm 34, so my benzo levels max out. I only take them as prescribed. I am not allowed ta be at a stable dose meaning im to sick ta b able to continue my sobriety what should i do?

Hi, I take a drug test every month and for some reason I keep coming up positive for methamphetamine! I haven't done drugs but I do take prescribed medications though: Xanax for panic attacks, paroxetine for depressions, Ibuprofen for pain, buta/apap/caffeine/codeine for migraine, metoprolol for my blood pressure, and albuterol inhaler for shortness of breath. Can any of these cause a positive drug test for methamphetamine?

It's because of the rantidine. Rantidine shows up as methamphetamine in urine drug screening. I see this everyday where i work.

I also had a positive for methamphetamine result yesterday. The lab tech asked if I take anything for heartburn those will happen sometimes. I take Prilosec. Praying she is right. Cause I damn sure haven't done any! She said they will send it to a regular lab and the test will show it was Prilosec. Hope she's right about that too!

I do urine drug screens all day and I hear everything from "someone must have put meth in my milk", to "someone spiked my cigarette". Yeah no! A screening has the potential to give you a false positive for just about anything, however; once confirmation testing has been ordered the process used breaks the drug down to the smallest molecule, basically the finger print to the molecule. Labs are pretty darn sophisticated. Nowadays they have the ability to distinguish Sudafed from Methamphetamines. Wellbutrin, like so many claim, is why methamphetamines is in their urine drug screen is just the criminal mind working over time. Sorry, but if the lab detects meth after confirmation has been done, you did meth!

Please Help me I tested positive for meth I have never tested positive before I'm going to lose my doctor I use lipitor 80mg norvasc 5mg zovirax 400mg. Dilaudid 8mg Norco 10mg zetia 10mg Zoloft 50mg ambien 10mg 5000 unts of vit D 1000 mg of E unison and a hair and nails vit 81 mg of aspirin valium 10 mg why is it that I tested positive I also use just one in a while a pro air inhaler because of my copd please help me I have no one to Help me

Hi I'm desperate! I haven't used method and just had a positive hair follicle?? I have only taken nyquil, sudafed, and afrin to clear my nose as I've been sick from the weather. Can this be the cause? ? Plz respond !

It does because I just got a shot of vivatol to get off opiates and the night before I was very ill so I took NyQuil and Musinex,but the next day got so sick I passed out and a ambulance can got me,they took a toxins scene and said I have methamphetamine in my system and I've never seen the stuff how do I prove them wrong,they made a big deal out of it and sent me to a detox hospital

I'm an RN and I believe that epinephrine is frequently added to the novocaine used for numbing, which would definitely cause a false positive for methamphetamine.

My sister smoked for years and years... She quit and 6 months after quitting. Not smoking AT ALL she tested positive for marijuana. It takes a lot longer the longer you have done it.

I took the same thing and have never done methamphetamine or seen it myself. I tested positive for methamphetamine and I'm pregnant. The lady treated me like I was some kind of criminal. I showed her the box and the children's cold meds I was told I could use, then found out I couldn't be taking it. Very first time I ever tested positive for anything any day of my life. Talk about baffled, most certainly.

The dyphenhydomine contains amphetamine which can show up as a false positive for methamphetamine. Before you take any drug test, tell them what you are taking over the counter, or prescribed.
