Can certain over the counter medications or prescription medications cause a false positive for Methamphetamine in a blood test?

I tested positive for methamphetamine use, and never in my life have I ever used this drug or anything of its kind. My Dr. gave me a prescription for Zantac 150 milligram to take with my Omeprazole Dr 40mg for my stomach problems. Had a i**** Dr. that did a blotched Gallbladder surgery, ended up losing a 1 third of my stomach because of it. Don't these Dr's read up on this medicine that they give us? Ugh so disgusted with this Dr.

I was taking Gabapentin for a period of time for nerve pain and had many bad side effects similar to the ones that were mentioned including mood swings, involuntary muscle movement and stopped taking it. Didn't help much either.

Lyn my wife had the same thing happen to her this week. She is on the suboxone program. She has never done methamphetamine in her life, but she also tested positive for it. She does not drink, smoke Marijuana, or do cocaine. And this is true, these small labs have a lot of inaccurate readings. We totally understand where u r coming from. I am waiting for my wife to give me a list of the prescriptions she takes and see if any fall into those categories. She is a recovering alcoholic and from pain medication given to her in the hospital for Pancreatitis. So the suboxone has been a miracle worker for both addictions. But now due to a small clinic she has tested positive for methamphetamine. It could be a variation of things. Could be they used a used piss cup who knows. I just know for a fact that my wife is clean. Only takes what she is prescribed. Good to hear we are not the only ones dealing with BS. THANKS.

my husband has never used meth but he takes heartburn medication on a daily basis its over the counter heartburn medication called acid reducer from dollar general. He's not failing for meth but keeps showing a real faint line. This is crazy, so it has to be the heartburn medicine?

So I'm on several medications for breathing problems as well as chronic pain and cancer. I had a drug test turn out positive for methamphetamine. Family services is involved and has separated my daughter and granddaughter from me. Please help..the medications I'm on are...Lyrica, tizanidine, celecoxib, buspirone, lamotrigine, promethazine, combivent, morphine, propranolol, lidocaine patch, advair, rinitadine, and vitamin D... I've been told several of these can give you a false positive..please help if you can.

yes ranitidine comes back as amphetamine....went through this with foster care people 4 years ago and they still dont believe me and am now going through it with po....it is also used as allergy med as well as stomach med!!!!

I take omeprazole (a stomach pill) n it caused me to fail a urine drug test for methamphetamine at a pain clinic. I have been on this medicine for about 2-3 years.

Everyone is convinced that, there is no way to beat a hair test. Well there is a way, and it's easy. First go to a beauty supply store, and buy a bottle of Aloe Rid. By Nexxus. It is used by hair salons on customers who's medication can react with the dye's and the harsh chemicals in perms. What aloe rid dose is it strips the hair of all chemicals. It's easy to use. Jump in the shower get your hair wet apply a generous amount to your hair, working it in well. Leave it in for about ten mins. Don't rinse it out, but wash it out with shampoo. Spend the money and get a good shampoo and conditioner. Thoroughly wash your hair. The first thing you'll notice is how amazing your hair feels and looks. same has happened to me at pain managment that i finnlly was refered to by a dr that took years just getting me to this place it was all i dreamed of for coping with pain and huge solar heated pool fotPT AND THE INJURY CENTER HAD GOOD INTENTIONS NEXT MASSAGE COULDA OF BEEN TO A NUEROSURGEON AS WELL ,NOW I GOT FIRED MY MEDS ALL F,,,,! UP WASNT SURE IF NOT TAKINNG FENTYL AND OXYCODEWOULD DO BUT I WENT THROUGH A ROUGH TIME THEN PCP PUTS ME RIGHT BACK ON I AM DISCUSSED WITH THE INJURY ,RECOVERY CENTER

I didn't fail a urine test. They failed me on a saliva test! The actual report from the LAB THAT DID THE TEST stated that the positive results could mean two things: 1. Illicit drug use. 2. Use of certain OTC meds, namely nasal sprays, and went on to name several ones, including one that I had been using for several years. (I know, 3 days) You know that spray was just running down the back of my throat when they took that saliva test. I have no reason to lie on this forum! No one knows who I am. Now you would think that common sense would tell someone receiving that report would tell them, hey, maybe we should have him come in, ask him if he uses an OTC nasal spray, (of course BEFORE revealing the pos. report), then, give him another test! This time, get urine or blood. I would have gladly given them both. Keep in mind, I was being tested at my psychiatrist office and my pain Dr every month. So to be able to dodge 2 random tests per month would be suicide. And all of a sudden, after 2 yrs of testing, I, after receiving a pain pump implant only 2 weeks before, decide to start taking METHAMPHETAMINE! Only once though, cause I passed everything before, and after that test. BS. I know I am living proof that these tests are not 100% accurate, but I was dropped from this pain Dr, effectively black balling me anywhere in this state, after taking one saliva test! It took me 11 months to find a Dr willing to take me, and in the mean time, they failed to warn me that my morphine pump would need to be drained and refilled in 6 months because the medication becomes unstable after that. He dumped me because he was afraid he would lose his DEA license to dispense schedule II prescriptions, simple as that.

The sudafed contains psudoephedrine which is one of the ingredients in methamphetamine.

See your chemist to get a statement when you bought it. See your doctor to get a certificate stating you have a sinus condition and get a lawyer. There are so many people affected by false positives for methamphetamine that use sudafed.
