Can certain over the counter medications or prescription medications cause a false positive for Methamphetamine in a blood test?

Yes it can make you test positive however if you let testing facility know you took it then may be good but I think it only test positive for alcohol

I recently showed up positive for methamphetamine and only take Xanax & Lodipine for sleep and I don't do drugs. Is there a lawyer or something I can do to fix this? Please respond if you can help me. Thank you.

I am not familiar with a lot of the medications you listed. However I do take gabapentin and I have taken amitriptyline and the 1800 mg of Gabapentin is way too much That could absolutely be causing some of those symptoms. Also I think the amitriptyline could

Yes, alot of the drugs you mentioned cause false positives. However if the lab knew of these meds they would of done more in-depth testing.

That's not the card with me..I have to do a random urine drug test once a month and I recently ( past 3 months) been put on thyroid medicine..the past 3 random urine tests have showed (false) positive for methamphetamine! So taking Benadryl, Tylenol PM, Advil PM, Ranitidine and Trazadone long with Thyroid meds has caused the false positive. Before taking thyroid medicine I have NEVER had one bad test result in the 4 years of doing the required random testing.

I would normally agree, as Everytime I failed a drug test I used. I have been clean from illegal street drugs for over 3 years! I am however prescribed Adderall and I take zantac and much is the case with many others here, I tested positive for methamphetamine! I'm from Jersey and that is not a drug you can find unless you are a biker! My employer and personal physician agree with me and as long as I produce the necessary documents for the amphetamine, I will be fine.

Depends how "briefly" you mean. It can soak in through your skin or even vapors in the air can get into your system. That's why the DEA will dress up like astronauts when busting a lab. Methamphetamine is a crystal substance that when made and even smoked is turned into a vapor and that vapor can get into your system. Now if you were just touching a crystal to look at it then depending on conditions it would enter your system. We're you sweating? How long were you touching it?

Hair folicle tests can show what substances uve done up to the past 30 yrs. theyre very correct and reliable so anything youve taken will show up in the hair folicle. that includes the weed brownie and the hydrocodone(vicodin). im not certain if the vicodin can create a false positive for amphetamines but u can always google it to find out.

I hv a friend trying to get off meth.so her friends give her xanex. To release her fear, and her panic attack s .from being around others and her paranoia. She's scared beca use the meth calms her fear panic attack s and fear of trust. But she doesn't want to get in trouble .will the xanax cover or make it a false test.

I just went to DR and was told I Tested Post for Meth! I've never SEEN meth before!! I was given Mylan-Beclo AQ Nasal Spray.. I take Rantinidine 150 2/day.. Cetirizine 20mg 1/bed.. 30mg MS Morphine.. Gabapentin 300mg 4/day.. Baclofen 10mg 3/day..... My Dr said that if my test today was fine and the one next week I have to go back for I would be fine! He never said I could be cause of any of these meds! I just googled and found this... Sooo how do I explain its because of these meds I'm on that everyone says causes false positives?

i have court in 2 days and i was arrested jan2 2014.and they swobed my mouth an it camnd it came up meth hows is that possible i dont do drugs. came up meth also i pee in a cup but very very little. i take alot of meds it came up meth so they say. what should i do in court.

Wow gaylene what a story that's awful what you have went through because of a false positive on a crappy test that's similar to what's happened to me I feel for certain now it was the zantac that caused it an that's downright scary the kind of people we got in power to be so incompetent that doc must of thought u was stupid I would of went public an had his ass for denying he prescribed it everything is all about money god help this world smh an glad u mentioned ur hair test came back clean cuz I think that's gonna be my next move cuz they said meth had time to leave my blood an that's y it was negative
