What Is The Difference Between Vicodin And Norco

I am currently taking Tramadol for lower back pain. It is not cutting it. It has been suggested to me to try Norco or Vicodin for more strentgh. do you agree?

Norco and Vicodin are both brand names for the same medication, which is Acetaminophen coupled with the narcotic Hydrocodone.

It may cause side effects, such as nausea, constipation, dizziness and dry mouth.

However, only you and your doctor can decide if it is necessary for you to try something else.

actually it is a registered nurse I know. I want to ask my doctor about it after I get some more info. I am also taking "SOMA" as a muscle relaxer. Any knoeledge of this?

Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant, its side effects may include: nausea, headache, dry mouth and drowsiness.

As a patient of a Pain Clinic, Norco has less Acetaminophen, while Vicodan has more. Both have the same amount of narcotics in them.

The narcotic med is hydrocodone and they are in the same dose for both. The larger number refers to the acetaminophen (like tylenol) which also has pain relieving properties but acts in the body differently. Reason why you would be prescribed the one with 325 is because acetaminophen can damage your liver if you take more than 2000 mg a day.Therefore this allows a patient to take more narcotic for severe pain. 7.5 mg is pretty strong please use as directed and be careful in your activities.

All narcotics including this one have the potential to be addictive. Use only as directed and as needed under the care of a doctor.

I'm in the drug industry and have also been on various opioids for several years due to a chronic condition.

I have been suffering from lumbar (lower) back pain for the last 5-6 years, I highly recommend Vicodin for the pain because it really works.....one downfall is that it can cause whats called Opioid Induced Constipation which is different from regular constipation so definitely talk to your Dr about that because over the counter softnets and laxatives dont work for that.....I hope my info was helpful good luck

I am taking Norco 10/325 The Dr. In Mexico gave me Tylex Cd 500-30mg what is the difference and is it safe to replace. What is Tylex Cd. This is just temperory until I get my precription from my american Dr. Thank you Freddy

I had spinal fusion in my lower back in 2007 I was on Norco and then switched to Vicodin 7.5/750 and it worked well. I didn't have to take as many, but after a few years they put me on the Norco 7.5/325 and I have to say I told my doctor I didn't like them. I had to take more to help the pain and for some reason they make me feel tired. The Vicodin I didn't have to take as much but I wasn't tired and they actually gave me energy. I know pills are addicting , but I have taken them for over 10 years and I can actually hit the weekends and take half of what I do during the week. Any answers to why the Norco make me feel tired when the Vicodin didn't? When they basically have the same ingredients? And I will tell anyone back surgery if you ever have to have it done talk to them about trying the electric stimulator they insert in the back first. I hurt before the back surgery and thought it would help but I'm in more pain now than I was, it's going to my hips. I just wish I never had it done and just dealt with it and just took my pills because that's what I'm still doing now almost 9 years later

Tylec CD 500/30 is nothing more than Codeine with tylenol. It's a good substitute for your Norco, it might even help you. It did help me with opioid urges. If u want to wean off of Norco try this medicine.

For your constipation, if you're in the states, you can buy fiber, non-sugar type if you so desire. Walmart and any other drug store carries it, as would Target, Etc. The usual dose is one heaping teaspoon once or twice a day depending on your need, dissolved in about 8 oz of water. I found for me, however, that it takes a heaping tablespoon to really do a great cleansing, and I do it once in the morning and once in the evening, or before I go to bed. You may be surprised at how much extra "stuff" your large GI tract holds onto and I suspect you'll even lose some weight.
