Yes, some change to the color and efficacy level of the medication is normal, when they start to age, due to exposure to heat and light.
The efficacy change is why most pills you receive from your pharmacy have an expiration date of only a year, once they are dispense to you. They tend to degrade over time.
The degradation is slowed, if they are left in the original factory sealed bottle, but once it has been opened, then that changes.
