Wellbutrin Xl And Gait, Balance And Falling

I am on a lot of meds for depression/anxiety. My p-doc started me on Wellbutrin, but all of a sudden, I couldn't walk straight, veered into walls, etc. and fell often. I'm in my upper 70s. My husband insisted this effect started with the Wellbutrin, and convinced my doctor that I have to taper off. Low and behold, about 2 days after stopping, the symptoms disappeared. Has anyone else experienced such a side effect from anything?

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if anyone has experienced unsteady gait when walking while taking wellbutrin? By unsteady, I mean swerving into walls, balance issues and falling down with no warning, and crashing into furniture. I suffered from these symptoms until I came off the wellbutrin.

I am very sorry about what you've had to deal with, and yes, the FDA does warn that this medication has been known to cause abnormal coordination, as well as dizziness, headache, edema, and gastric reflux.

When I tried this medication years ago, it made me so jittery, you'd have thought I'd drunk many pots of coffee. I have been told to never take it, again.

My husband is on a medication for his epilepsy to prevent seizures and it sometimes causes similar issues, he gets so upset and frustrated, so I understand how you feel. One day he was walking in with a plate of spaghetti, stumbled for no reason, and flung it everywhere. He was NOT happy, trust me, though he did clean it all up... and our dog enjoyed a few mouthfuls. LOL
