Wellbutrin Seizure Anxiety! (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi. Today is my second day taking 150mg of Wellbutrin. Just for a bit of background, I'm 18 years old, afab, weighing 119 lbs, and 5’3” tall. I don't have a history of seizures, I don't drink, but I do vape.
I recently noticed that taking Wellbutrin can increase the risk of seizures, and seeing as I have severe hypochondria, this has been making panic.
I keep seeing online so many people saying they had a seizure and it made my anxiety about it worse. What would be the probability of me having a seizure? And if it did happen, could it be fatal?

Have you spoken with your doc about your concerns? No anti-depressant or anxiolytic medicine is without risks. It appears that the risk of seizures with this drug increase with dose. You’re at 1/2 of the recommended daily dose, so that certainly decreases your risk. I don’t think it’s possible to estimate your chance of having a seizure. Most seizures aren’t fatal. It’s really pretty rare for that to happen. To sum up, most meds have side effects. Some of those are pretty bad, but most can be tolerated. You can’t figure percentages on this. If the medication helps you, then you need to decide if it’s worth the risk. It’s your body and your life. Research the drug - not through social media, but looking at reputable sites like WebMD, Medscape or Drugs.com. Talk to your doc and get their take on this.
The first thing I'd like to point out is the nature of the Internet, and how it works..... IE: Most of the people seeking sites like this online have had a problem with the relevant medication, the people that have had good experiences usually don't have a need to go online, and hunt for a site like this to talk about it. Some people do share positive experiences, but it is not common. Thus, you are almost always going to read about bad experiences online.
The most common side effects, according to FDA reports, may include nausea, constipation, headache, nervousness, and insomnia.
That said, seizures have been reported in 0.4% of patients, at up to 450mgs daily, and 0.1% for those taking a 300mg dosage. I'm too lazy to o the math, but if you understand basic percentages, then you can see that it's not very common, so your chances of having one are relatively low.
Past seizure activity, other medications you may be taking, and other medical conditions can also play a role, so you should only take it, if your doctor feels it is safe for you to try, and is monitoring you regularly, while you're under treatment.
