Wellbutrin Sr Still Some Beginning Effects
UpdatedI was on paxil for about 20 years, I'm now 43...it just seemed to stop so we decided to try Wellbutrin. After the terrible paxil withdrawal finally ended I started to feel some energy and motivation but still quite anxious, very irritable and angered quickly. cry for no reason and some minor aches and pains...talked to Dr, at first they said try Ativan as a side help--didnt do much...ok then they say vistaril---thats fine if I want to sleep all day. now they are saying try propanolol (spelling)...I haven't tried it yet but this is my first full week 150mg twice a day wellbutrin and 3rd week total on the drug...I guess Im just looking for insight if this anxiety, irritability anger etc will pass...according to Dr it will but I'm losing my mind right now...it's so hard coming off a drug for 20 years and also getting used to a new one...I just don't know what to do. I want the Wellbutrin to work but I don't know if I can wait?

Hello, Jason! How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?
It may take about 4 to 5 weeks for a medication to reach its full level of efficacy in your body and for the side effects to taper off, so you are actually pretty close. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and weight changes.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Still having some ups and downs.. my problem has always been anxiety and panic attacks and I was taken back when they prescribed Wellbutrin, but all the side effects and issues I've been reporting to my doctor they still don't feel like we should switch to something else yet...they insist this side effects will tapre off and I will be pleasantly surprised how well I feel ....I am not yet convinced with that..I don't want to keep waiting and waiting only to feel crappy every day...they added propanolol 10mg twice a day to see if it helps keep my anxiety down... what's the point of the Wellbutrin then...I'm not depressed, I suffer from major anxiety.. I'm just frustrated and want to finally feel decent again...I even called my PCP and they seemed to also feel I need to hang in there a few more weeks...I just hope I can make it.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Still not feeling great...even though there are reports that Wellbutrin can help with anxiety, so far I'm not sold on that. This is my second week on 150 mg twice a day and I think 4th week total on the med....I just still pretty anxious and I've talked to both my psych doc and PCP and neither seem like they want to change the med at this point, but I'm not sure how long they think I need to keep holding out...it's getting frustrating.

Well Finally my Drs are listening and are tapering the Wellbutrin and starting me on Lexapro...I just pray I finally start getting some relief. It's been a month or more since I've felt close to being myself.
