Wellbutrin Hcl Sr

I'm a 58 year old woman who had a total hysterectomy at 48 years of age, taking hormone replacement (estradiol cream) I started on Wellbutrin 150 mg., by Sandoz, (pink pill) and was on it for maybe 3 weeks. Did nothing for me. However, I seemed to be angrier and more emotional. Dr increased dosage to 200 SR which I've been taking for a week. Wellbutrin has been in my system for 1 month now and there has been some slight improvement not much. My dr mentioned she might include Effexor with it. Actually my Dr wanted me to take Effexor instead of Wellbutrin, but I preferred Wellbutrin because I was concerned about the weight gain. All I know is that I'm experiencing some of what I did not want on an antidepressant. Although I have not gained weight, I'm hungry, itchy at times but the depression and lack of motivation has not improved much. My self care has not really improved that much, taking a shower is an effort. I just don't want to shower but will wash up with s towel, brush my teeth etc., but this shower thing has been a problem for years. I'm concerned about the seizure side effect on high dosages. Can anyone share with me about what to expect on these meds, the side effects, should I stay on this meds? I wanted this particular meds for my depression, because it was suppose to not cause weight gain and could help you lose, also did not cause the sexual dysfunction like other meds and could help with the lack of motivation and depression. I don't know if I should give it more time or talk to my Dr about what I'm experiencing. I was informed Wellbutrin takes awhile to work which is one of the reasons she preferred that I take Effexor. I'm just so tired of this crap. I just want my life back and want to be able to do the basic things in life without it being an huge effort. Can someone please share what they've experienced with this medication? I want to hear from people in general. But, particularly from mature women who have gone through or going through menopause?

Another one that you could try, if your doctor approves, that isn't known to cause weight gain is Prozac. It's an SSRI antidepressant that can also help with anxiety and panic attacks, but as reported by the FDA, it's more commonly known to cause weight loss.

Other typical side effects may possibly nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and headache.

It may cause sexual dysfunction, but there's no way to know, until you try it. I've not had a problem, at all, but we are all different.

Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you for your input. I know I've tried Prozac before and it cause anxiety, fidgeting a lot rapid leg movement. It's interesting because their are not too many anti depressants that work for me. I'm at a trial and error stage right now which is hard. Because I found during this transition I usually feel worse before better. Does anyone have any experiences or input?

I know this is an old post but Sandoz Wellbutrin is useless the generic Wellbutrins are useless with the exception of the Mylan brand I found was decent but I also take estradiol, a plant-based hormone made by Mylan and it works wonders.
