Weaning Off Of Adderall After Abusing It...
UpdatedHi, I'm new to this board. I not lily white but I am by no means a recreational drug user...until 3-years ago which is pretty pathetic because I am now 45-years-old. I started out with a "bump" of cocaine which led me down the path of cocaine abuse for about 6 mos. My morals, ethics and bank account told me that I was going nowhere FAST. Then a "friend" of mine told me about Adderall. I had never heard of the drug but was seeing a psychiatrist for depression and anxiety. He encouraged me to convince my Shrink that I had ADHD and that *boom* I would get the script. It wasn't hard at all to convince her and I started with 10mg in the am and 5mg in the afternoon. This lasted about 6 mos but the good news is it kept me away from the cocaine. Cut to: 1 1/2 yrs later, I am prescribed 20mg am and 20mg in the afternoon. I am now down to 10mg 3X a day per my request. During the last 8 mos I have taken up to 100-120 of any amphetamine I can get my hands on, a day. I've tried Dexedrine, Vyvanase and Adderall. I broke out into terrible acne and my gut told me it was the stimulants...and I would pick at this acne until I was bleeding. It was time, again, to pull in the reigns. I gave my Mother the Adderall bottle and asked her to give me no more than 3 10mg IR's daily. So that's where I am. Hell. I know I'm doing the right thing but is there anything to ease the withdrawal effects off of this godforsaken drug? I don't have ADHD and I feel it should be saved for those that are truly suffering. Any advice would be appreciated!!
