Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 18)

Updated

Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

Re: Twig7 (# 338) Expand Referenced Message

You are correct, Wyeth was the original brand Ativan. It was owned by Biovail when I was first introduced to Ativan. It always worked for me, but I do take a max dosage of 6mg a day (possibly would have needed less for same effect on Wyeth).

I was able to get a partial fill yesterday of the 1mg tab Mylan that will last me until the restock date given to my CVS store. At that time if it still isn't stocked I will ask them if they can get the 2mg tabs as you've said they're available. I don't mind breaking them when needed, ill most likely have to call my doc to call in a new Rx for the 2mg tab size. Hopefully though, the 1mg becomes available and this is just a blip in the road.

To all those that are in contact with Mylan please continue to post any updates here. Thx.

Re: Henry (# 341) Expand Referenced Message

A Mylan rep called me back after an email yesterday and they are going to discontinue making lorazepam. They do have enough to fill a backorder, but when that’s finished, we’ll all be in trouble??

I would continue having your pharmacy check and hold them for you.

Re: Twig7 (# 339) Expand Referenced Message

Okay ! We have called the headquarters and talked to the manufacturing and they said they will not carry it anymore . They will see how much ingredients they have left they will use that up and once it’s gone they said no more .

Re: Deedee (# 337) Expand Referenced Message

I understand exactly what you are going through! Mine was high on the leading brand and I never have high blood pressure. I was on mylan and felt so much better. I did finally get an ok for the Ativan brand name with our insurance company so I am able to get it covered. See if your dr will fill out a paper name brand Ativan only!!! I’m sorry you are suffering. If you look up Mylan Pharmaceuticals there is a global center you can call to get more info. They are the ones who told me that they were no longer going to carry it. Cvs used mylan for a long time. They tried to order it for me and told me it was discontinued also. I hope you find Something will work for you.

Re: Deedee (# 340) Expand Referenced Message

I'm not worried about it being discontinued. Because it's not going to be discontinued. I have faith that what Mylan has said to me as to be true. What I think is someone on this thread is just trying to put some of us in a tailspin for their jollies. All you have to do is look at the time stamped from each post and one can see that Joyce, Savannah and I think you know who the third person is are one and the same. Glad the three of you got your brand name approved. ;)

Twig7 (# 347) --

I’m not sure exactly what’s going on here, and if I hadn’t spoken with a Mylan rep yesterday myself I wouldn’t have believed it either. Just 4 weeks ago from the last email they called me back on, I was told the release on the backorder would be after May 21, now I hear they have enough to fill one more batch and they are discontinuing and my pharmacist shows that in the computer he uses to order. Just to be safe I’m doing what she advised and call back every couple weeks to see when they’ll release it and have my pharmacy do a direct order. Good luck to you all.

Twig7 (# 347) --

I’m truly telling about what I was told. I tried to get the 2mg because I was told they were in the warehouse also. I hope you get yours. I was told they had them in then when they were suppose to arrive I called back and they said they did not have them. It’s very frustrating to always. Have to try garbage that doesn’t work and mylan was the best generic I ever took. I want you to know I have only been stating what mylan manufactures in PA has told me. For now my brand name is approved until 2021.

Re: Savannah (# 348) Expand Referenced Message

I'm going to leave this at this. There's no reason why they would tell you one thing and others another. My script was filled with 2mgs of Mylan the start of last week. It's still in stock and available. If you looked on their website you can see the drop down tab that shows what they have, make and the warehouses pharmacies can order it from. I would think that they'd update their site if they were not going to be making it any longer. I have one other route I'm checking and will have a answer next week whether it's going to be discontinued. I went a little higher up the food chain this time. I'm glad your insurance company will pay for it and you only have a 30 dollar copay. Not sure you ever took the original Wyeth brand name or not, but I'm still not sold its the original that Valeant is marketing. I do have a question, how long have you been on 6 mgs and if you don't mind what type of doctor is writing that amount for you. Reason I ask is most pdoc's or gp doc's don't normally write that high of a daily dose. Also is that a 90 day supply, monthly or weekly? Just curious because my experience these days being on that high of a dose not many docs or pharmacies will fill that kind of script.

Re: Twig7 (# 352) Expand Referenced Message

I’m not here to argue or challenge you. I am only giving out information to try and let people know what I have been told about the mylan. Each person is different and has diff anxiety levels. If you must know so much about why when and where this is not the page. My mental health has nothing to do with mylan verses Watson. Read up on dosages that will give you answers. Make sure you dig deeper and go higher up the food chain to find out exactly what a person can be on! Good day.

Re: Savannah (# 353) Expand Referenced Message

I'm going to say this right outta the gate. My apologies to you for asking a personal question about who was writing your script for the amount you're on. By no means was I trying to upset you asking the questions I did. I didn't think it would offend you. You've been very candid about pretty much everything else on here that's why I asked.

As for researching what therapeutic dose that can be taken daily of Ativan (lorazepam) I'm fully aware of the amount. I've read the PDR many times not only for my benefit but to docs that have ridiculed me for being on what I'm on. My questioning was more in the line that you seem to have an empathetic doctor and pharmacist willing to write you a script 6mgs a day. And the truth is that's not outta the norm for extreme anxiety disorders. But you will find many docs that will look at you "like really" I've been there done that. You're truly fortunate.

As for the discontinuation of Mylan. I have a close friend that works in the Pharmaceutical marketing area. I haven't talked to him in years. I posted the question to him whether Mylan was discontinuing their lorazepam and he just got back to me. And to my shock he confirmed that they are in fact no longer going to make it. I asked him why and he said it's not lucrative for them anymore to produce it. It had nothing to do with them not having the ingredients to make it they just weren't making money. So I called Mylan up and asked them why you would tell folks that it's on backorder 3 weeks ago and do a 180° and counter dict it today. The individual was not very polite. I realize that this person must have been answering a lot of questions for days on this matter. But it still didn't make it right being rude.

So you were right that it's no longer going to be made. With that said please don't feel I'm back peddling here. Who would you believe the company marketing the product or someone on this board. If you were honest to yourself I think you'd say the company. We all were duped plain and simple. Even our pharmacist feed us a line to a certain degree.

Summing things up. I have no problem saying I'm sorry if I've offended another person whether it's in person or in chat. As I said earlier it wasn't my intentions to upset you. Honestly I was beginning to believe that some of the posts on here were and are the same person. That's what made me come across the way I did. And I truly believe there's like 6 names that are all the same person.

Again I'm glad you were able to get the so called brand name Ativan. I hope that eases the grief you were going through. As for some of us we will have to find a plan B. My provider will-not pay for this brand name Ativan at a price gouged cost. And honestly I don't blame them.

Best of luck to you.

Re: Twig7 (# 354) Expand Referenced Message

Ugh! Twig that wasn't the news I was hoping to hear! I had a bad feeling though, it seemed strange Mylan would have such difficulties with lorazepam supply. Now I don't know what im going to do. I had an approval for the "brand" from 2006 when it was Biovail and maybe $200 more a month than generic. That insurance is long gone from an old employer in a different state. There is no way my current insurance is going to pay $5000/month for the Valeant, and as you said I don't blame them.

I guess i'll have to try another lorazepam generic although I don't have much faith in that from my past experiences and those posted here. If that doesn't work I suppose it's back to my doctor to find another medication, probably a different generic benzodiazepine like Xanax XR, What a mess :(

Re: Twig7 (# 354) Expand Referenced Message

I just pulled up the conversations to catch up since I last posted. I did get mylan 0.5 filled yesterday for my 30 days, and the pharmacy showed in the computer their warehouse still showed them in stock. Unfortunately, last Friday when the Mylan rep called me after my email Thursday, she didn’t say whether all lorazepam would be DC’d or if it was just the 1 mg dose. I did ask my pharmacist yest if they could check it every 2 weeks like Mylan suggested and see if they could order and he wasn’t sure that was possible. Mylan said they had enough for one more batch, but wasn’t sure when the release date would be. We all have to be our own advocates I guess, at this point. I have a friend with MS who’s on oxycodone 15 mg and her pharmacy is now giving her a brand that doesn’t work at all, so am telling her what I’ve been going through with all of your help and hope she learns from this. Since I made a direct call in response to Mylan’s return call, I know for sure it was that company who was on the phone with me. As for even trying to believe the few of us that seem to be responding back and forth I hope I’m not too naive to believe anyone would play games like that and for what point?? When you mentioned looking at post dates and times, I did go back and look, and all I noticed was that some people spend more time reading and answering right away. I would really hope we all are real people who are just trying to help out another friend with the same health issues. Also, doesn’t the site have our emails private, and why in the world would they let the same email go online using different nicknames. This is supposed to be a reputable website. If you know something to the contrary, I would sure like to know and I’ll cut my conversations immediately. I did have a thought a while back that maybe one of the people we were taking to was from FDA, MAPS, whatever, but then thought that’s not a big deal because I have absolutely nothing to hide, have a legitimate problem that necessitates my medication, etc. Have a good day.

Re: Twig7 (# 354) Expand Referenced Message

I decided to call Mylan just now to see what they tell me about backorder vs discontinuation. I was transferred to a woman named Desiree who deals with product availability. Honestly she didn't offer much of any useful info. She confirmed all sizes of lorazepam tablet (0.5, 1, 2) are showing as backorder and don't have eta dates. I pressed her if this means it's discontinued and she wouldn't commit an answer (she apparently didn't know). I have no reason to disbelieve Twig's friend in the industry that says Mylan axed it. I also just called my CVS and the pharmacist checked and found she is unable to get any sizes of Mylan lorazepam.

Re: Henry (# 357) Expand Referenced Message

My pharmacist told me it's no longer available and is discontinued. My spouse called three chain pharmacies and they said it's discontinued. I'm just perplexed. I think that Mylan should just plain and simple post it on their website. It would save alot of phone calls and stress on not only them but us as well. I'm not sure what plan I'm going to take as of now. I'm thinking going back to Valeant's generic. But I don't even know if it's being made either. I was told by a large chain pharmacy they had it. Three weeks later they tell me they don't have it at all and never did have it ane that they only carry Watson and Actavis. Major Pharmaceuticals is Leading brand so that's out as well. Wish you the best Henry.

Deedee you don't hafta use your email to post to these threads. That's only if you want to know if you post has been posted. You can use an anonymous name post your comment then come back and checked the boards. All I know is Mylan most certainly made some of us look like fools. I put my faith and trust in their replies to those personal phone calls I made. I stood up for them out here and yeah. I'm glad that things have worked out for you. As for me I will bounce back and figure this out. Have a good one.

Re: Deedee (# 356) Expand Referenced Message

To answer your question: Yes, your email address is kept private and is not displayed or shared. And because we do not force users to enter their full name or real name (for privacy), there may be cases where a single individual changes their name from time to time. The only time this is really frowned upon is if someone is attempting to manipulate a discussion (by posing as multiple individuals in a deceptive way and/or having fake conversations with themselves). In such a case, our moderators would promptly take such a message down and ban them. We hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions about this.
