Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 14)

Updated

Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

My pharmacy switched to Qualitest generic lorazepam. I really mean this… It is like taking a sugar pill. I reported them to the FDA online

Hello Kitty,

I like to try to help as many people as possible since I used to be or still am but don't practice since I'm a stage 4 cancer patient for the past 11 years now. But I used to be a pharmacist MD. So I like to let everyone know and try to help out as many people who read this post and answer your question at the same time while at the same time you know my qualifications. Now sorry for the long post but I wanted to get that out of the way so I can help you out as best as possible and if you have any questions past that I'm pretty sure since I have a lot of time on my hands now that you can just reply to me and it will post to my account and I promise to reply back to you ASAP!!

Now you mentioned that you were taking the SANDOZ generic version of Ativan (lorazepam) for at least a few years if not longer correct? There's a few answers that I can give you that might help you in this situation and have a better understanding? Sometimes regardless of the medication or the company that manufactures it being the actual brand or a generic version is the fact that you took the same brand meaning Sandoz for a long time? Even though you never noticed unless you had any type of small change in its effectiveness? Not only do I know a lot as a long-term 15-year pharmacist MD which means I can also write prescriptions except for schedule 2 medications that's why I also worked in the hospital and compounding pharmacy as well. So you'll never get some BS answer from me since I don't work for a chain Pharmacy like Rite Aid or Walgreens ECT. Because unfortunately those places have their pharmacist signed confidentiality agreements and that's why you hear a bunch of Lies which is very unethical coming from their mouth. I would even pay extra no matter what the cost and again I am very ill with stage 4 cancer so I'm alw a patient taking these type of medications actually for over 22 years. So I have a dual knowledge of these things.

So before I get you a little confused I'm just going to list a few things you might want to do and could help you out a lot.

1) weather or not your insurance covers and out of network Pharmacy? Pay the extra couple dollars even though I'm on disability in indigent myself now. Make sure you go to a mom-and-pop type Pharmacy because that's where the pharmacists usually will be totally honest with you and give you proper information instead of the same robot answers that are actual blatant lies!!

2) now you asked about the other two companies Watson and I believe it was activist? Either way if those are the only two that you can get which I believe that there are other ones in the US that make Lorazepam besides the brand? They change all the time especially after Obamacare went into effect. Similar to Canada they source medications now from all over the world and some of the cheaper pharmaceutical companies that you won't even notice or will notice the name like let's say Watson for example? Now they're building and always have had International factories for big pharmaceutical companies. So the conditions that they manufacture their drugs in are horrible and the FDA is such a corrupt organization so they just approve these type of practices. I try to do this helping people and I know hopefully I'm not going to be in some type of trouble by letting you people know the real deal. I have enough health issues myself where I could care less unless I'm in jail but there's no reason for that telling the truth.

3) so let's just say that you for some reason can only get (which I'm not sure but like I say highly doubt are the only ones you can get?) Either the Watson brand or the activist? What I would do is literally ask your doctor to do a number of things. One of the things would be to just ask him or her since they definitely should know since you switched from Sandoz to your newest brand that doesn't work ECT. To now give you just half of month of one of the brands and see if that works for you? Then if it doesn't you try the other brand for 2 weeks. That's a very normal and common practice and it will save you money too at the same time because they won't charge you for a full month supply it will be prorated for those two weeks that you would get?

4) now I just remembered that you also had said in your post that generic medications are allowed 2% less of the active ingredient which is correct but that isn't always the case in fact sometimes they are actually in a couple situations are working with the brand that makes Ativan in this case so whoever makes Ativan and I forget at this moment which is just a side effect of a lot of the medicines I take for all these years now but this is a way and almost in every case and I recommend it for you to check out and you can find out on the internet which is definitely real information because a lot of people Google stuff and think it's the darn Bible LOL. So what I was saying is that also the brand gets a 1% leeway of the active ingredient less or more for their products. So what you can do is also for any medications you take and I'm not sure that this medication meaning Ativan or lorazepam the active ingredient actually has a deal with the company that makes Ativan? But that deal is exactly with the medication for instance that I take which is Xanax and it's made by Pfizer. What I do in every instance for all the medications I take and there's only 2 out of the 5 that I take currently that don't have at least one partner so it's very simple the brand company wants to get a certain percentage of the sales from whatever generic company they deal with just by giving them and allowing them to use the EXACT INGREDIENTS, OBVIOUSLY THE ACTIVE & INACTIVE ALIKE,SO THEY BOTH WILL BENEFIT FROM THE DEAL!! So the bottom line is you just have to do your homework. Because using my Xanax or Alprazolam which is the active ingredient in Xanax as an exact example. I take the generic which like as I was saying the pharmaceutical company named GREENSTONE, & everything I just stated is exactly the same as the brand but cheaper obviously because it's considered a generic when you pay whatever your insurance or even if you had no insurance you would pay. The only difference is and sometimes they don't change it is the stamp on the pill or whatever patch or capsule but I think you understand what I'm saying? Either way though that's something that and reason you would go to a mom-and-pop pharmacy and look up reviews for them so you know which pharmacy is probably closest to you and has good ratings and reviews about their pharmacists! Again I say this because these big chain pharmacies will have their pharmacist lie through their teeth and unfortunately some of them want to tell the truth but they signed a confidentiality agreement to literally lie. And for me it's very pathetic obviously that someone would sell their soul and ethics especially when it comes down to someone's health. Now there are also a number of other things that pharmacists will tell you that are total blatant lies so if you ever also have any other questions I tell everyone that reads any posts I leave to just get in touch with me and I believe that what you would have to do is just reply to one of my post and it will send me an email through this website and then we can speak further and I'll get back to you ASAP I promise. Because as I said except for today in another hour I have a doctor's appointment myself even though I'm laid up mostly 24/7 because of this very rare cancer I have. So just know that I'm not just a literal expert in Pharmacology meaning all types of drugs ECT. I also have extensive knowledge in all these different various benzodiazepines like the one you're taking and just about every other one because I've been on the myself and that is a great tip you should do the homework on because you can most likely or definitely is what I'm trying to say find a generic that is literally in every way except for what stamped on it and sometimes it has the exact same stamp depending on the company and the agreement? So definitely I hope I answered your question and some? So you can move forward with your medication search and not have these issues. Again I try to answer these questions directly for you and they are a little long I apologize but very worth other people reading as well because I'm putting out exactly information that is correct and is coming from a 15-year professional along with my eleven almost twelve year battle with cancer and this exact situation you have kitty. So again if you have any type of question you can just get in touch with me directly and I'll answer you for sure. I guess this website doesn't let you leave your email address correctly so I think the best way to get in touch with me at first would be too just reply to my post and then we can go from there because I am sure I think this website would then alert me through my email that I got answer to your post ect!! Have a great day and I hope this helps you and anyone else that has any question like this because I tried to address a few situations that people might and usually don't know the answer to? So have a wonderful day.

Sorry that I have to make this post kind of quick because I'm late for my own doctor appointment since I had stage 4 cancer. Butt I'd like you to know that I also was 415 years a pharmacist MD so I can help you understand at least that's a little bit more?

As far as the Sandoz brand goes here in the USA a lot are there medications for some reason are not top quality at all just as you stated and many others do. I could go on and on about varieties of reasons for various things and I do mention it in a lot of my post so if you have any questions about really anything I usually have the time so just replied to any of my post and I believe it will alert me through my own email and I'll get right back to you as soon as possible that's for sure I promise!!

The reason why I said it's kind of one of the only things that has to do with being a pharmacist and especially a pharmacist MD that means I can write prescriptions except for schedule 2 medications. So as far as that brand goes the US division for some reason doesn't make quality products. In fact you can always get a different brand no matter what even if your insurance or the pharmacy you go to doesn't cover it there's lots of things you can do and just ask me and I'll give you all kinds of options. The main reason which I have no understanding of like I said about the USA manufacturing of various Sandoz medications is kind of weird because I've received a lot of medications from the international manufacturing of the Sandoz brand and they have just like other companies manufacturing plants all over the world. Only recently since the messed up Obamacare law which a lot of people like me even thought was a good one at first but it isn't by the way unless you like a number of bad things? One of them being the FDA which is so crooked that they for one in this situation obtain all kinds of medication from not up to even close standards and certain manufacturing plant just so the government can get away cheaper deals on their medication. So I would recommend if you have any other specific questions to get in touch with me and just replied to any of my post because I can't leave my email and I pretty much go on lying here every day because I'm laid up myself and actually I'm taking Sandoz medication right now. Sometimes it's out of my hands and occasionally a few of their medications ROK. I can also direct you go to loopholes in the system and things that pharmacists especially the ones that are part of the Big Chain pharmacies or never honestly tell you no matter what because they are bound by confidentiality agreements through the employers and it's really unethical and sickening. That's why I always recommend no matter what and even if you have to pay a little extra and believe me I'm on disability living off next to nothing so I am indigent myself. I would say definitely go to one of the mom and pop pharmacies that aren't chain Pharmacy? That way they aren't bound purchase any kind of the crap that the chain pharmacies are usually it's owned by one person every two that are pharmacist and open their own Pharmacy so they are honest for the most part and I would just said to just go online for something like that and check out the Mom and Pop Shop reviews closest to you or even if you have to drive a little further or take the bus if it's worth it which usually your health is no matter how healthy are sick you are. Hope you have a great day and remember if you have a question about anything at all just get in touch with me by the way they say responding to any of my posts since I can't leave my email address unfortunately here. Take it easy

Ranbaxy is out of question as there is a ban by FDA on it and it did work for me for many years , got me out of bed , efficient in less than a week after several years on Watson, now back on Watson by Actavis that I won't be able to know for sure is it the old Watson or it just says Watson on the pill and in fact it could be Actavis . All my muscles started jamming in less than three days and I can't walk any more Hello, I can't walk any more I can't even walk with my walker . mostly behind my desk and can't even type as fast and can't stand up without pain in my leg muscles and going to the bathroom is becoming a problem , I can foresee what is coming next due to the fast progressing crippling effect. Called Ranbaxy USA Pharmaceuticals and they told me they have 2 years back orders and yet no news as to when if ever FDA will approve it . I am putting all my cards on the table . I don't know why this product was banned . I heard they found few flies and insects in one of their Pharmaceuticals production lines. Frankly I wouldn't have cared to have more protein in my Ranbaxy from India as long as I could still walk and be a better and more productive member of my society as a US Citizen . I just pray for the day if I'm still around for either Watson/Actavis changes it's ingredients to work for patients like yours truly or approve Ranbaxy for cleaning their act of getting rid of the flies and insects and curry powder from their product. GOD bless and heal all the patients so we would not have to be dependent on these crippling products.

Try to find the brand Excellium. I was on Rambaxy feeling great and had to change to Watson with horrible results. Although no muscle pain. I found Excellium at a small privately owned pharmacy. I hope it helps you if you can find it but I know all our chemistries are different.

Leah, how would you rate Excellium (1-10 stars)? how much does it cost? quantity? milligram amount? Just asking because I do well on Watson and have found it to be very effective. Thank you. please reply.

I found that Watson and Sandoz generic works great for me.
My pharmacy Rite Aid throws a fit (as they hate having to specially order Watson) -as they only use the horrible generic Qualitest- which does NOTHING for my anxiety at all- and reading thru the threads - most ppl feel the same about Qualitest being horrible. I will call other pharmacies in my area to see what generic brand they use. Don't settle for what doesn't work for you!!!

Hope this helps.

@NashvilleBound - I have the exact same problem with Rite-Aid and make me feel so bad when I tell them only Watson works for me and then their BS about Qualitest and all others work the same. I'm tired of being talked down to as all generics are NOT the same nor work for everyone.

Stay away from Rite-Aid as they only use Qualitest - unless it works for you.

Q- I honestly think is a placebo.

Sorry to be of no help but my pharmacy is going the way of all the other ordering Qual because excellium is no longer their own company. I am waiting to see what happens? Not looking good but I really don't know. Can you still by the name brand Ativan?

You can buy Ativan but EVEN with a 75% discount it comes to gasp .. $25/tablet (1 mg). It's totally outrageous, thousands of dollars... disgusting.

Has anyone had success with Buspar. If we have anxiety and no true depression than Buspar is supposed to help?

I found out that my local Costco Pharmacy (vs. Mail Order Costco Pharmacy) HAS the Watson brand of Lorazepam. I hope to hell it's really Watson. My doctor sent RX in and specified WATSON.

What a CRIME all the nonsense patients go through to get an effective generic of Ativan. What is going with these UNETHICAL Pharmacy Companies. Why doesn't Congress INVESTIGATE THEM??? Oh boy do I long for a NEW CONGRESS with a few exceptions. Elizabeth Warren is a really feisty activist. So many don't care at all. Makes me so angry.

I've been taking 1 1/2mg (broke the 2mg tablet in half and the other half in half) for 6 years. It prevented nightmares. My pharmacy started buying another brand, the one you mentioned. I started taking it four nights ago and have had nightmares every night. Feels like no effect...

Yes you can buy "Ativan" at Sam's club, I'm pretty sure if you call around, all of you people, that don't like whatever generic you're getting, you'll find what you're lookin' for!
