Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 11)

Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

Oh my, how they lie these pharma people. I imagine this woman couldn't say "OH YEAH, when Actavis makes Lorazepam they're going to make a bundle by cutting the actually drug by 80%, haha."

Mary ... Are you kidding???? There is NO way that the Lorazepam now under the Actavis name is the SAME formula as the one used by Watson, NO WAY. I don't follow this pharmaz biz and had no idea Watson had been bought by Actavis. ALL I knew was that the Lorazepam wasn't working anymore. It's NOT the same formulary no matter what they tell you. Don't believe all the BS.

I was taking Sandoz Lorazepam for three years. My pharmacy changed to Watson. Did Absolutely nothing for me. Put me into serious debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. Started buying real Ativan. Was costing me $200 a month as opposed to $1 a month for Lorazepam. It was worth the money. Now my Pharmacy says Ativan is no longer made. I have tried all the other "pams". They don't work. So I'm thinking I will have to go to rehab or not. I've tried to go cold turkey. Not a great idea. I wish all of you out there the best of luck. I really can't stand living like this. Please don't read more into this than there is. Good or bad I'm here until the fat lady sings. There is alot of ways to kick anxiety and depression. It just means we have to get up off our asses and take control. We can do this. We don't need these pharmaceuticals. Good Luck!

You are not alone in your experience with Avaxis brand lorazepam. I find it does the same thing to me. It made me a little sleepy when I took it at night but the next morning I woke up with a 'terrible edgy (actually toxic) feeling' that lasted for hours. My body felt ill and all I wanted to do was go back to bed. Nothing could account for this other than the fact that I took an Activis 1 mg. lorazepan at night - my new prescription - instead of the Mylan brand I'd been using before.

I agree with you and all the others who are frustrated and angry about Activis taking over the generic market for lorazepam. - that is, cutting out competitors by offering pharmacy chains like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens the cheapest price for this drug. This is now the ONLY generic brand of lorazepam that these THREE BIG CHAINS will supply and offer. They are screwing the consumer desperate for another brand generic because the Activis brand doesn't work or worse, causes restlessness and a toxic neurological reaction. If you can find a pharmacy that will order in generic lorazepam made by Mylan, you'll solve the problem.

I also got the Watson brand of Lorazepam from my local Costco Pharmacy. (The mail order ONLY carries Actavis brand). BUT I SWEAR even with the Watson name, it's not the same at all. I wish I could afford Ativan but it's humongously expensive. Sigh.

Kitty, FDA actually allows up to a 20-25% difference.....plus or minus active ingredient. This is one of the main reasons pain meds, anxiety meds, etc are not working for people anymore. Not to mention the binders and fillers, some sub par ingredients even from other countries, that our bodies are not utilizing the active ingredients very well! SO, we suffer and no one cares! Sure the H not the FDA! Come on, 20-25% is a MAJOR amount of med to be out of a single dose! How many pharma companies do you know that would actually put in more of the active ingredient and charge the same amount for them? Right, NONE! It's crazy.....take a 10mg hydrocodone ( Norco, lortab, etc), it can contain only 6.7 MG's of hydro and it doesn't work well, if at all! I can't take ANY meds from India because of the crap they put in them. Not only do I not get pain relief but I get very sick! I am assuming this is the problem with your lorazepam. Don't listen to anyone that tells you generics are identical to brand name where the active ingredient is concerned.....its total bs!

I agree with previous poster. They had it right a year ago. But now i have to take 2 to 3 1 mg pills to relieve my anxiety. Does anyone know of a pharmacy that carries generic other than watson 241/1 in sacramento area? The major pharmacies walgreens, rite aid, target, and cvs all carry crap that is so weak it doesn't work .

I have been on 2mg of Lorzepam for 8 years. I've mainly been on the Watson brand. For 3 months, my pharmacy only had Ativan brand and I was able to get that for the same cost as the generic. I didn't really notice any difference between the two. Both worked great. Last year I was switched to Mylan for two months and my anxiety was through the roof. I couldn't figure out why. I was also extremely agitated! It was horrible! I finally realized it was the brand and I brought my unused pills back to my Dr for her to destroy and she wrote me a new scrip. I have been back on Watson with no issues. Today, I filled my scrip at Walgreens and got half Sandoz, half Actavis. After reading all the reviews, now I'm worried! My Dr already thinks im a little "quirky" for bringing her the Mylans.... This ought to be interesting.

No your not. Brands are everything. Never go on a new brand. It can result in bad mental and physical effects. Especially if you've been on a brand for a while. So from what your saying, walgreens has recently changed from watson 241/1 to another?

Has anyone experienced nausea and vomiting (severe projectile-type) on Mylan lorasepam (1mg) I take as needed and have never had this happen before. The last three times I have taken it I have had this happen. It also happened to my husband when he borrowed one..I am not on any other meds and never had an problems with this drug

Due to the major chain pharmacies seemingly only filling lorazepam with Qualitest or Actavis brands lately, which made me somewhat jittery, I searched for a local pharmacy that was willing to special order Excellium brand for me. Wow what a difference!!! I think it may even be better than the original Ativan...at least for me.

I was just switched to sandos brand and it was horrible. Watson brand worked for me. It was like it wasn't working at all. I reported it to walgreens and upsure-Smith they cannot do anything but document it and the FDA will be notified. So I have to switch pharmacies to find the Watson brand.

I used Randbaxy brand Lorazepam for anxiety for years, and it worked very well for me. When they switched to Qualitest brand, I had an adverse reaction. I ended up in the hospital, scared to death to try their brand, Watson? Randbaxy stopped making it, they say for the next 3 yrs. but will not say why. I don't use it very often, & besides that, I'm just afraid of using the wrong one, so I wait until I'm desperate enough, not even once a month. and pray it will work. It's also supposed to help my seizures, but very seldom helps.

What city and state is your walgreens located? I ask because like you I take Watson pill 241. I just refilled at walgreens. And in the past walgreens changed to sandoz and it was very powerful in 1 mg, which is my dose. I had to cut it down to 1/4 of a pill and it took me two weeks to adjust to it. I was very happy when they stopped carrying it. Also what pill number is it?

I'll have to look up what the Watson Lorazepam pill looks like. I'm continuing to get Watson Lorazepam (Watson on the label) from costco.

Their Mail Order Pharmacy is great, low prices and excellent people to speak with.

If you go onto the costco site, go up to the top of the page to find "Pharmacy" and click on that ... then make sure you then click on home delivery unless there is a costco near you.

You have to call either the mail order or local costco to find out IF they still have the Watson brand.

I know the Mail Order Pharmacy in Washington State (all mail orders go there) still has it as of June 2015.

Excellium has worked perfectly for me. Went through the same problems as others when Rambauxy was taken off the market with new generics not working. In fact it seemed they made symptoms worse. Anyway, I go to a small pharmacy in Riverview Fl call RXOasis Pharmacy (813) 677-6000. You have to go in person to pick up a controlled prescription so this may only help a few.
