Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi tracy....told ya! They want a lot number...ur gonna gets lots of calls from them....n godforbid u ask a legit question about the med, theyll tell u another dept will have to answer that question n theyll have em call u....someone will call u, but they wont have an answer, they probably wont b from the dept u were told ur question would go to, and when u ask what dept will have an answer for u, theyll tell u the dept n theyll have them call u...and around n around u will go...each one acting like this is new news to them n how sorry they are that ur experiencing these problems. Then u will get a letter from Actavis telling u without the lot number, there isnt more they can do and maybe it was only the bottle u had and how they strive to deliver quality. ..remember everything I just wrote so u can tell me ur having deajhavough with every call from them, then when u receive the letter...lol. telling ur dr is one I haven't heard from them but then again, our dr's have nothing to do with the formula these companies use. They just wanna pass the buck in hopes to avoid a legal suit. Only one person from Actavis told me they were getting alot of the same calls.....but she had no answers.....I had to tell her what the company she works for had up on their website under their news n reports. Told her she should know whats on their site especially since she deals with customer service n didnt have one answer to the many questions I asked her that I already knew the answers for cause I read them on the actavis web page n she should forward her paycheck n call backs to me since I knew more than she could handle. I was pissed with all the I dont know replies n it set me off on them.

What ive come to see is these pharmaceutical companies are billion dollar companies n in order for them to b concerned n make a move, u would have to hit them with a loss in the triple digit millions or even billions. And that would have to be done throughout the world in all their markets cause its not just us here in North America that keeps the shareholders pockets full, we're just a small dent. Thats y in all this time, with all the calls n complaints. ...n its more than the 50 u posted.....its gotta b in the thousands....prob more! I know ive seen hundreds throughout this year on all diff sites....maybe more. Im definitely not a conspiracy theorist. ...never researched about anything in my life as much as I have since this crap hit the fan, but I must admit I feel like Munch from SVU in this post. These pharmaceuticals dont think about our issues cause one way or another, they know pm patients not only need, but depend on these meds to have a puny ounce of a normal life.....as far as the abuse deterrent. ....they dont care about the losers who abuse their meds n make it harder for us...think about it.....they make the deterrent to appease the ones advocating for something to b done because they lost loved ones due to pill abuse, to appease the FDA who has to deal with the bs of abuse all the while lining the big wigs pockets in the FDA n so forth with a hefty dollar amount cause either way, 1- we will still be using one pain med or another...2-the ones who abuse meds that now have deterrents, turn to H which is cheaper n easier to get ahold of n who makes, creates, distributes H in some form or another in one way or another?

The pharmaceuticals labs! They make their billions through the pharmaceutical distribution n the streets so they dont care about deterrents, abuse, side effects, or how effective these meds are.....theyre gonna get our money from one side or another! Think about it. And all these doctors play dumb cause what if we went n made our complaints everywhere n said, "my dr told me this n my doctor said that, my dr, my dr....", it would literally b us painting a target on their practice and the backlash could ruin them! I was so eager n gun hoe in the beginning like u....pushing everyone to call everywhere....but as time went by, it didnt make a difference and the more u push the subject to ur dr or pharmacy, the more risk u take being accused of drug seeking behavior n chance ur dr dismissing u cause he doesnt want to chance any reprecussions. ...soooo, needless to say, reality has set in with me almost a yr from the day it started! If this is not a "Munch" post, then I dont what is! Lol. I just hope I made sense to u all n the pieces put together bring the same clarity to u that i now have!

Lol, Jennifer! Oh, they asked for the lot number alright but I didn't have it so they asked for my pharmacy phone number....I gave it completely willingly! I am so sick right now...literally not just sick of their BS...LOL.....anyway, have appt with my doc on the 19th but I need to call tomorrow. My stomach and intestines feel like they are going to blow out mt throat! ( sorry anyone who doesn't like that talk.....I'm a nurse, gruesome doesn't bother me!) I will NEVER EVER take another drug from this company! I don't freaking care if it's a sugar pill! Something will be wrong with that too! I haven't taken that Percocet in a few days and it is still causing problems! I feel like I have a boulder in my stomach and it keeps expanding! I can't lay down cuz things seem to find their way back up! I'm worried about a blockage caused by this crap! ( no pun intended.....lol). I already told 2 people at Actavis that this is not a batch problem but a formula problem because at least 50 people scattered across the US are having the same problems. She ACTUALLY said to me, well, I'm not a medical professional so I can't say. I said, "guess what! I AM a medical professional and I CAN say!!!" They can try play with me but they don't know me.....I'm freaking relentless and I'm not stupid like they like to think! None of us are! Hey, I have been fighting work comp for over 13 years and haven't quit yet!! Lol......I'm not easily intimidated or brushed off. I CAN be someone's nightmare! Oh, I'm not threatening either......that is a solid promise! :) how do you like me now, right??? Lol. PS.....not how do YOU like me now.....I meant them....haha. I have to start laughing or I'll just cry I hurt so bad! De ja vu is right.....I will remember you! Jennifer! Lol

I thought that it was just me! I just refilled my script as well, and searched several pharmacies only to be told, no one has Watson brand. This Actavis is terrible. I am back to using my lidocaine ointment and heat for my shoulder. Riteaid has a different brand, I can't remember the name, but it can't be any worse. I will try that next month. I use Walgreen's as well. This is so upsetting!

I have been taking 5-325's for years to deal with my chronic pain. I have been switched to & fro, numerous times due to the Pharmacy going with a new generic each year (basically it's whichever Pharmacuetical that gave the best bid) CVS went with the generic form Endocet 5-325. They seem to be working good for my pain. The only difference is I feel more tired, which is the downfall for me. I wish everyone the best of luck with their battle with pain & finding relief.

Hi Jan, I was wondering what brand Rite Aid carries that you mentioned. Hope your pain is under control.

Hi Lola,

I'm trying to deal with it, I hope you're feeling better. The brand that Rite Aid carries for percocet, is called "Qualitest." I did a little research and it was rated a 4 out of 5. I figure, how much worse can it be? I'm working on a crochet throw, and it is so difficult to add the finishing touches. If I don't take enough, I'm still in pain, if I take more, I'm too sleepy to get anything done. I did make 2 crochet roses today, so I'm trying to fight through it.

Hi Jan, are you taking the Actavis pills then? Yes, the depression/anxiety is what is going on now. I guess I don't know how I will deal with the neck pain if I can't get a rx that works. The old pills worked so well for me for years with no side effects. I have been doing alot of reading on the blogs maybe that is good - maybe that is bad - but I hear so many different things about other generics I am confused. I hear good and bad about Endocet and some people say only Qualitest and others swear by Roxicet. I just know Actavis is like taking an aspirin and it gave me alot of upset stomach.

Well what walreens is saying and what is happening is two different things I know several people upset about the change the line of work I'm in people complain a lot. What about FDA forum?? People are probably afraid to complain to pharmacies because they may seem like drug seekers that's what people automatically think it's a cruel crazy world.

Hey everyone. .I've been sending messages but they haven't been posting them. Actavis is not working because they are formulated without the addictive additives. They are experimenting to see if it works. Lucky us...I read it on the internet. They are tryng to prevent abuse where people cut em up n insufflate or melt em...they experience an immediate high, with this actavis brand, it wont make u high if abused cause they took removed whatever it is in the Percocets that gives u that feeling. That's y they're not helping with pain relief...its a completely different formula than the Watson formula. Research it and u will see....hope that helps to now know why we re hurting so bad on this medication.

Hi everyone. ..I called actavis yesterday n they called me back today to get my information. I asked the lady what they're doin with the info n she said it goes to the fda but I dont know how eager they are to report their own meds r messing people up...kindof like ratting urself out....so I will contact the fda myself next just as a precaution. They did admit that they have been gettin alot of complaints so keep email coming. I asked her about these meds and what will come of the complaints...she said with enough they will have to consider another option but she didnt know what that would be. I also asked if they were distributing the Watson's anywheren why were they removed n she said they wweren't distributing them any longer and with the joining of the two companies, they had to make a decision on which to distribute n they chose this crap. I told her the company made a tremendously bad call. I told her there are hundreds of blogs with people complaining how these medication is giving no-one pain relief n I wouldn't b surprised if a legal suit is formed because of this medication. I also asked her if the Watson's had the abuse deterrent formula. I told her I have seen many things on the internet about them using that formula for their hydrocodone n she said she knew they did with their Norco but another department would have to contact me with the answers to that. I also asked about the variance in percentage from the brands active formula is the actavis as nd watson since their is a huge difference in pain relief n that needs to b answered by the same dept that she was gonna have call me. So ill let u know what I find out from that. Also someone mentioned depression...I suffer from but since being on the activist, it has been ten times worse. I latex in bed all weekend n only got up to pee. Also, just an fyi...I saw on the internet where these companies have done studies using 2500 people that entered a rehab with drug of choice being oxycontin or hydrocodone. ...but they also used H because it was cheaper and easier to get. So the study wanted to seehow well the abuse deterrent formula helped lower the abuse of oxycontin n hydrocodone. ..it found that people who abused these meds as a drug of choice either figured out how to break up the meds even with the abuse deterrent formula to insufflate or IV or they just moved on to H since it was cheaper and easier to get. The study said it didnt foresee the use of another drug that's even worse then pain meds (H) to rise. They rather see these people abuse these meds rather than H since the effects of H is worse health wise and to the community so they needed to rethink this approach in trying to lower the abuse rate. So basically this abuse deterrent formula is pushing addicts to use H, and not stopping them from abusing drugs all together. Do I hear a round of applause to these people who thought they had a sure fire way to stop pain medication abuse while making actual legit pain medication patients suffer all the while?!?!....lucky us huh....this is seriously b.s. that we are all sick from medicine that is suppose to help us so we can function as normal as possible!

MAJOR COMPLAINTS RE: OXYCODONE/ACETAMENOPHINE NEW TABLETS

Nancy N. 3:09 PM (0 minutes ago)

to media.relations, investor.relat.

Categorize this message as: Personal

I am a disabled with severe chronic pain syndromes and had been on Watson Percocet 10-325 for numerous years. On 3/14/14, my prescription was replaced with Activus' re-formulated medication which not only made me ill, it absolutely provided no pain relief at all. I simply Googled this new so-called medication only to find to my disbelief as to how many thousands of complaints there currently are and it is not just me. I contacted Actavis; spoke with several departments - even received a short letter telling me the oxycodone & acetamenaphin amounts are the same. Not a chemist here but a consumer among many who are suffering with no relief, are ill and have spoken out online about this particular medication. We are limited in our abilities and/or options for this so it is a huge issue.

I am contacting "Media Relations" as we (meaning myself and so many others with the EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS and otherwise unknown to one another) are discussing getting help whether it be through the FDA, legal action, investigations, etc. By copy of this letter, I am "posting" it to RxChat.com

I am extremely upset and concerned about what this pill will do to my overall health and hope not to become a statistic in a few years if there are worse side effects to occur.

I AM ASKING THIS THIS BE INVESTIGATED PUBLICLY or at least, go to MedChat.com to see the consumers that are having serious issues with your product. Next stop, whatever it takes to get the word out that we are not getting what we paid for or expect from your company. If a legal suit/investigation is our only choice, so be it. Watson's formula was a successful product and should not have been altered.

That's the key....as you present the prescription, ask who their manufacturer is....if its Actavis, go someplace else. If you call ahead, the employees are instructed to not give any information over the phone. I called ahead for mine and they said they were out. So I went to about six or seven pharmacies (all had that cheap crap Actavis) and then it occurred to me that maybe the first pharmacy wasn't telling me the truth. I went back to the pharmacy who had previously filled it with ALVOGEN and *SURPRISE* they had the ALVOGEN. They told me they can't give out information over the phone because someone might be looking to steal drugs. Well I hope whomever is looking steals all the Acavis on the market ~ better yet, they can have it!

Midiman you got to be kidding. Do you actually believe we are all addicts. I think you posted this reply just to piss us all off. Have a nice day.

Hello Midiman,

I have not posted for a while, but thought I would check in today. I hope everyone is getting at least some pain relief. My doctor tried to tell me that I was probably addicted. But I noticed after my spinal epidural, my pill consumption was down to half the amount. The only reason I continued to take them, is my shoulder still hurts with activity. If you are not in extreme pain, you can cut down. I feel that addiction comes when people are not in pain, and just want that euphoric feeling. The pain medication doesn't even work the same, for non-pain patients. Trust me, I doubt if anyone on this site is addicted! They all sound like chronic pain patients to me. I have another spinal epidural scheduled, for the end of the month and I can't wait. Do you think someone who just wants to be high, would risk death ect. to have something inserted in their spine? I think not my friend.

Hi jan....ive tried the shots in the back...didnt do a thing for me....the second one gave me a dumbing feeling for about half an hour but thats it. As for the euphoria feeling with pain pills...ive never had it nor do I care to get it. I assume that only comes with insufflating n injecting the pills from one who abuses it...I have yet to hear where someone who took their meds as prescribed n for legit pain gets a feeling of euphoria...anyway...im done addressing that fool below....

Midiman,

WOW. You really hit a nerve with us who suffer from real pain hourly. I don't feel the need to take up for myself, but will fill you in on my experience. I started pain management 11 yrs ago this year. My body is addicted to pain pills, but I don't and never have gotten high off pain pills. If anything they all make me sick. Just seems this brand of Percocet made me really sick. I just started searching for advice when a failed morhpine pump and spinal cord stimulator both had to be taken out. Both were to stop me from having to take pain meds by mouth and here I am back on them. I tried 5 different pain meds to get on one that worked and BY FAR Actavis Brand Percocet made me the sickest and not just the normal sick. It was terrible. There is something we are all having a bad reaction to dear. You need to visit a pain management doctor and just watch the people who try and get up and walk to the back. Shame on you for calling us drug addicts. The difference as my doctor says is one who takes for pain and one who takes to feel high. You body will get used to them, but thank God for them. I can walk because of them. At the point you with all your wisdom or any of my doctors can fix my issue will be the point I will be off the pain meds. I shall pray you never say this ignorant thoughtless crap to a loved one in chronic pain.

Hey Chad,

As Matthew Mcconaughey would say you are right on right on. It seems all the generics are going to Actavis as supllier. I get my meds from a hospital and they carry the Mallies. They work well. Sorry for anyone who is in pain and is suffering becasue of this. For anyone who say this is all in "our heads". I will say this. Don't judge a man until you have walked in their shoes. That should be all you need to know. Thanks.

Oooooh Tammy...u r the kind of pain management patient I referred to earlier who are ignorant, uniformed, have no knowledge of their pain management meds, just take em cause u were told. You comment on the watson meds being the same as Actavis cause Actavis bought them out.....that is half true. You really should do ur homework before u post a comment that is false n proves to us, the ones who know everything we need to n should know about meds we put into our body, that u dont have a clue n thats sad. If uve read through this thread...n I know its lengthy, but u really should read it all...u will learn alot, we are all familiar with Actavis purchasing watson, BUT, that absolutely does not mean theyre using the same formula that was used in their 10/325 Watson Percocet as they are in their 10/325 Actavis Percocet. In fact, many of us, nyself included , have been told directly from Actavis that when they took over, the decision was made to use their Actavis formula for the Percocet n thats when the Watson's went extinct. So no dear, its not the same medication as it was before the take over....its completely different!

Midiman. I guess your an addict to. Since you take meds just like we do. Have you ever heard the word hypocrite. Yep. That describes you. They are completely different medications and people have allergies to ingredients or react to binders. So instead of giving your opinion here why don't you just not post at all. Because no one cares what you have to say. I sure don't.
