Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 20)

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.
Now im excited to see the below went through...the next one that is the florida based info is on the orlandosentinel site. the article is dated September 29, 2012 and the title is Rx for Danger: Pain patients decry oxycodone shortage, but DEA says there isn't one. this is 2 pages long but there are other articles here where they bust or crack down on pharmacies such as walgreens and cvs
you guys have got to google this...I sent the link earlier but hasn't been approved yet so im trying this....lola..especially u since ur in florida....this came from a florida paper or newscast...I don't know which one but after reading, you will see other relatd articles on the page to search through. may help make some sense of whats going on with pain meds and why walgreens changed where theyre getting these meds from. This is an Indiana news site. wthr13 is the news network so enter that first in your search then add to it September 18, 2013 which is the date of the article and the title is walgreens secret checklist reveals controversial new policy on pain pills
Hi, I haven't called Walgreens because I don't think they are going to have Watson again. They do have percodan made by Watson and I am going to ask my doctor if I can try that. Your friend is lucky what state does she live in that she can keep getting the Watson or does she live in a real small town that maybe they don't move them that fast. If my doctor will let me try the percodan i will do that - last week I got the endocet. The walgreens by me said they will always have the endocet and can order it every month. Right now they have 3 bottles on the shelf. I must say that for me at least they don't act in my body like the Watson 5/325 did. I don't have the quick onset of euphoria and a warm feeling followed by immediate pain relief with these. I know Jan said they made her anxious but I only felt anxious just a little bit yesterday but I drank a whole can of coke right after I took one. What I don't like about the endocet is that is does make me sleepy which is a real bummer. I can't stand to feel fatigued and like I am carrying around bricks. I will say that it does the diminish the pain a little bit so I can do my errands and chores, but the Watsons completely took away my pain for hours. Still suffering from depression don't know why still but I have read it can be from the pain pills. It is just a mess. If I could find Watsons I would be there asap. Someone said that CVS may have them but I haven't tried since now I can't get another rx re-filled for 3 weeks unless I get my doctor to let me try the percodan. I can't stand this getting my rx re-filled only to find another med doesn't agree with me. The anxiety then of having to wait almost another month to try again causes alot of stress does anyone else feel the same way?
What??? Ur friend got her second refill of Watson's? How? I was on the phone with acta S*** n they told me there is none being distributed anywhere n the only left have to be from whats left in stock. Walgreens doesnt keep much of a stock so I dont get it? Where does she live?
Hi. How is everyone doing? Lola did you call your walgreens to see if they got watson back? My friend just got her 2nd refill of watson. I am taking the endocet and doing fine. I hope everyone is well.
Hey Martin, haven't heard anything from u for a bit.....how is ur pain doing? What meds are you using now? Is it working?
Hi lola...I think Walgreen s was the only one who carried them but im sure there are a few other places that must've. Actavis called me yesterday to see if I knew the lot number of the actavis I had. I told them patients dont get lot numbers...we just get our script. They said they're investigating the complaints so hopefully our voices will get somewhere? Lola, where in Florida do u live? I use to live in south Florida but now live in Georgia. Ur right....couldnt hurt to try n call CVS n ask if they can special order meds. Be curious to see what they say when u say its for Watson's. The stores near me dont do special order. ..big chain stores. I never asked the smaller ones since I knew what the outcome would be but try n see what they say....let us know.
Hi Sara, so then are you still getting the Watsons? You stated that your pharmacist will order them. Are you still taking the old Watsons? Thanks for any info.
Hi Martin, hi everyone,
With the tens unit, the Mallinckrodt isn't so bad.Without it things are not good! I get my script filled Sunday, and I decided to stick with Mallinckrodt. I know what to expect from it, and Raley's still has that brand. I checked first because I didn't want any surprises. I hope you all find something, that relieves at least some of your pain.
Hi Jennifer, I don't understand either because I thought Walgreens was the only drug store that carried Watson anyway. I guess it's worth a try i don't know. Right now I would give anything for a Watson as my neck and back are killing me and I haven't even done anything substantial today. I knew the day would come when the pain would catch up with me. I have my rx but don't know where to turn. I have to get it filled this weekend with something but what? That is the million dollar question. What are you taking again and any side effects? If there was a CVS that had them I would be the first one in line! I am in Florida and I doubt they have any. This is still so devastating and if only we knew it was a long time coming we could have stock piled some for the reallly bad days. How I am sure we all wish we had known what was going to happen. I think back about this time last year and never dreamed that my medicine would be taken away from me now after all the years being on Watson. Who could of predicted or who could of thought that the only medicine that truely works would one day be gone - it really doesn't seem right. Something has to be done there has to be a way they can bring back the original formula.
Watson doesnt make it anymore according to Watson. Unless they are lying. Any back orders would beshort term. I Think too many people OD on them and the lobby groups got involved.
I am taking the Roxicet and it works ok. Not great but ok. Makes my heart skip and only takes away some of the pain. Prolly going back to Percocet in June. May try Endocet or Mallincroft. How is everyone else doing?
Yes according to Watson/Actavis they don't make the Watson pill at all anymore. If thier is tock left, that is possible but I would want to get used to some new pill anyway instead of pining for one last Watson prescription. Jen, my suspicion is that the Watson pills were probably stronger than other manufacturers and became too desirable on the street. And I know that many people were overdosing and dying and the lobby groups probably got involved.
I am wholly scared of the future of Pain Mgmt in the US. Things got crazy in the 2000's and the Pharm companies sales were huge. Now the Mommy groups are coming out against this. You would think the Pharma companies would fight back as they stand to lose money. There were too many rogue docotors and driggies who have ruined this whole process. It bs. As for me, I'm on the Roxicodone. It works just ok. It makes my heart skip and just takes some of the pain away. Going back to Percocet but not til June so need to figure out my manu. Thinking Endocet but may try Mallincrap if you guys say it works. Thanks
Many of us have called the company directly...they were purchased by another and r now using the new co.'s meds n r no longer making what we're use to taking. Its been a long time comin from what I've read when searching the web. There is no doubt in my mind the co. stopped making them. Read through the pages...you'll see
Theyll tell you that, but there are back up supplies to be found...:) As I said, you have to call Each CVS around you and talk to the actual pharmacist.
When I told mine that of my bad side effects from the new generic, vomiting, etc., , she said she can order it.
The clerk won't tell you this. Find a CVS in a little town near you or one with a pharmacist over 50. They're the most helpful.
Sara...that doesn't apply to our scenario..... Lola, im sure she doesn't know the specifics of this thread. The CVS' in my area never carried our meds. Noone can special order them because they no longer make them....lord knows I wish they did! I feel so bad. ..im sure you've been thinking about being able to get them thru CVS.....SARA, please, when responding or making comments on a thread, please read thru all of the posts. ...this one is pages long and if special ordering our medication was an option, from a huge pharmacy such as CVS, we would've done it n this thread wouldn't be soooooo long. Unfortunately, watson no longer makes our medication. Read thru n you'll see what happened with Watson pharmaceuticals. It'll explain why and the details.
Hi Sara, are you talking about the old watson percocet? I didn't know they could order them because I thought they were not being made anymore and not available do you know if this is true? And did CVS always carry Watson does anyone know? I thought it was Walgreens that carried the Watson brand.I had always got my rx filled at Walgreens and never knew the difference because they always had Walgreens. I didn't know that CVS had also carried the Watson percocets. Any information would help as I am going to have to get my rx filled in a few days. Thanks everyone.
Try CVS. You can still special order your old ones at certain CVS pharmacies. You have to call each one to ask.
Also, many still have supply on the shelf.
The FDA and insurance companies have put certain drugs on "diversion" because they are recognizable as a street drug. My CVS pharmacist is happy to special order for me with a few days notice each month at no extra charge. She explained this to me about yellow Norco vs. The new white ones from Watson.
Hi jan...my messages are for everyone. ....but I respond to those who ask me questions. I was readin something on the internet last night that said endocet is the only generic made by the same company that makes brand Percocet and is the exact same formulation except its generic so im a bit curious. BUT...it seems this mallinkrodt is working better as the days go by. Im starting to wonder if the Watson's were a drug of choice to those who abuse Percocet and thats why they were not choice for the company to use instead of the actavis? Im also wondering if that's why the company is so prompt to get our info and call us back.....maybe they're using our info to try and show that it's a drug of choice? Who knows. ..this medicine crap and DEA N FDA sh*t is all one messed up organization who's only interest is in who's giving the kick backs to make their pockets fatter!
Hi Jennifer,
I know your message was for Lola. I've decided to stick with the Mallinckrodt as well. The pain is getting a little better, and I don't want to go through any more drama. I had thought about trying endocet again, but the thought really makes me nervous. So, I get my script filled Monday, and since I'm sticking with what I know it should be fine.
Hey Lola. ..just wanted to check in. I tried the amneal and was hoping to try it solely for a few days but never made it through a full day without having to take a mallinkrodt because the amneal wasn't working. Then after two days of taking the mallinkrodt, my pain is easing up a bit. Im still in pain, but not as bad as it was, but no where near the effectiveness the Watson's would give me. I've also noticed the amneal and actavis was makin my tongue feel like I had burned it. That feeling has eased up now. Hopefully as the days go by the mallinkrodt will help more...ill let u all know!
