Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 15)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

I get my prescription for refill tomorrow. I have been going to Meijer to fill them with the Mallinckrodt. That's the only place I know of around me that doesnt sell the junk. I will, however, check CVS tomorrow to see which manufacturer they use (will hope for Endo and try those. Nothing to lose, right?). Kroger and Walmart use Roxanne and Qualitest, respectively, but its been almost 9 months since I last.checked. I have chronic migraine, fibromyalgia, and cervical spinal.stenosis. Without the perocet, I become more and more a shut in. So finding something that works, once you do, is more than just "a drug".

Also my friend keeps getting watson from her local walgreens. How can that be? I can't imagine they would have that much back stock. She's going to let me know what happens next time. She is going to get name brand if she doesn't like Actavis or they don't work.

Can we sign a petition to get the ingredients tback hat were in the Watson brand? The Government is probably involved in this change. The new Percocet does not work and is basically a synthetic or a synthetic. It needs to be pulled from the pharmacies and the old Watson brand returned, This crap doesn't do anything - and it does make one nervous it seems. They probably load it with caffeine instead of Tylenol. It's basically a placebo and we are supposed to be stupid and not notice. This is all planned. The pharmaceutical companies don't seem to care whether a patient's needs are being met; they just want the money. According to the media, they make report like everyone is an addict, Yes there are some addicts, and they make it harder for those who need this medication; but this so-called Percocet needs to be boycotted and a formal compliant needs to be filed as it is being billed as something it is not. If anyone wants to sign a petition to see if they will change it back with the ingredients that the real Percocet is supposed to have, then we should do this. Enough people have to complain and not buy this stuff.

Hey Angela J - thanks for your support - don't we all need it! Going to my pain mgmt dr today to see what I can do about my meds - I was doing so well up until this last script of Activus' generic percodet. So I called and filed with the FDA my complaint of the symptoms of taking Actvus' changed version - I WOULD ASK THAT ANYONE having the problems discussed here do the same because the FDA needs to know from each of us what's making us sick or not getting the pain relief we were supposed to.

HERE'S LINKS with each State's phone #: fda.gov/Safety/ReportaProblem/ConsumerComplaintCoordinators/default.htm

Please let them know these new recipes for "non addiction" are affecting our treatment for pain management.

hey I'm feeling your pain man I've been going to Walgreens for 15 years found out a few days ago when I went to go get my script at Carrie to watch a movie there I'm trying to go to different types EVs Rite Aid whichever even Walmart to find out that pharmacist don't want to release that information off the phone why I don't know they probably think we're going to try and break in or something its so stupid really immature on their part because the persons been on a medication for 15 years I mean wouldn't you think that person really realize and counts on the medication and then all of a sudden BAM a change on you and your like what I feel like I just died in I can't wake up from this nightmare its freaking me out I just don't even know what to say but good luck keep on searching and I'm going to keep checking back to this post if anybody's got any news on the Watsons I'm about ready to call the manufacture wats in itself to find out who they're actually going through because I know that they're making it still is not going to Walgreens anymore the whole trick is finding out where its at anybody got a heads up let me know peace

Hi, I head that Watson is not making oxycodone anymore. I believe that they are still making hydrocodone which I cannot tolerate it always makes me deathly ill and doesn't relieve the nerve pain in my neck. Many of us are going through Watson withdrawal but what I have not heard from anyone is how they are doing with the Watson withdrawals.

Oh Lola...I am solo tired from the withdrawals. My pain is worse than ever...I feel pain in places I can't remember having. My muscles are jumping n spasming....never did that before...n my depression is horrible. I feel so bad...I have 6 yr old twins n I can't get myself to move other than necessary bc of the depression n I hurt so bad I can't push myself to get outside n play with them....I hate it n feel horrible for them but can't help it. This is all devastating for me physically, mentally, and as a mother. Never mind the anxiety of getting a new script filled only to find they dont work either. For the one a few below my post who asked where the Watson's were...the company is no longer making them. I asked when I called n complained. If anyone is having any luck with anything. ..please post about it...what it is ...where u got it...n what manufacturer. Good luck all!

Hi Jennifer, so sorry to hear you are having the same problems as I am. I know what you mean about not being able to move or wanting to do anything. Yesterday I just couldn't get my body to move everyday it now feels like I am carrying around bricks. I feel SO lethargic not to mention that like you, the depression is still there. I really feel for your pain this has been devasting to me and I am sure so many of us. There must be many more of us out there suffering from Watson withdrawals as I have yet to find ANYTHING even close to Watson that will help my pain and not give me any of these horrible side effects. I believe it was Lisa M who posted awhile back that she started endocet and it was close to Watson. Have not heard anymore updates from her if it is still working okay. Have you tried the Amneal or Mallinkcofdt today and what did you think of it? Any pain relief or just like a sugar pill or any side effects so far? When I took just one of those crap Actavis I had side effects that same day. I am going to get my rx re-filled next week and am SO SCARED as to what I will get next it is giving me anxiety just thinking about it. So, if anyone out there can give me any input on your meds at all it would be SO appreciated as all of us are in the same horrible predicament right now.

Hey Lola. ..just wanted to check in. I tried the amneal and was hoping to try it solely for a few days but never made it through a full day without having to take a mallinkrodt because the amneal wasn't working. Then after two days of taking the mallinkrodt, my pain is easing up a bit. Im still in pain, but not as bad as it was, but no where near the effectiveness the Watson's would give me. I've also noticed the amneal and actavis was makin my tongue feel like I had burned it. That feeling has eased up now. Hopefully as the days go by the mallinkrodt will help more...ill let u all know!

Hi Jennifer,

I know your message was for Lola. I've decided to stick with the Mallinckrodt as well. The pain is getting a little better, and I don't want to go through any more drama. I had thought about trying endocet again, but the thought really makes me nervous. So, I get my script filled Monday, and since I'm sticking with what I know it should be fine.

Hi jan...my messages are for everyone. ....but I respond to those who ask me questions. I was readin something on the internet last night that said endocet is the only generic made by the same company that makes brand Percocet and is the exact same formulation except its generic so im a bit curious. BUT...it seems this mallinkrodt is working better as the days go by. Im starting to wonder if the Watson's were a drug of choice to those who abuse Percocet and thats why they were not choice for the company to use instead of the actavis? Im also wondering if that's why the company is so prompt to get our info and call us back.....maybe they're using our info to try and show that it's a drug of choice? Who knows. ..this medicine crap and DEA N FDA sh*t is all one messed up organization who's only interest is in who's giving the kick backs to make their pockets fatter!

Try CVS. You can still special order your old ones at certain CVS pharmacies. You have to call each one to ask.

Also, many still have supply on the shelf.

The FDA and insurance companies have put certain drugs on "diversion" because they are recognizable as a street drug. My CVS pharmacist is happy to special order for me with a few days notice each month at no extra charge. She explained this to me about yellow Norco vs. The new white ones from Watson.

Hi Sara, are you talking about the old watson percocet? I didn't know they could order them because I thought they were not being made anymore and not available do you know if this is true? And did CVS always carry Watson does anyone know? I thought it was Walgreens that carried the Watson brand.I had always got my rx filled at Walgreens and never knew the difference because they always had Walgreens. I didn't know that CVS had also carried the Watson percocets. Any information would help as I am going to have to get my rx filled in a few days. Thanks everyone.

Sara...that doesn't apply to our scenario..... Lola, im sure she doesn't know the specifics of this thread. The CVS' in my area never carried our meds. Noone can special order them because they no longer make them....lord knows I wish they did! I feel so bad. ..im sure you've been thinking about being able to get them thru CVS.....SARA, please, when responding or making comments on a thread, please read thru all of the posts. ...this one is pages long and if special ordering our medication was an option, from a huge pharmacy such as CVS, we would've done it n this thread wouldn't be soooooo long. Unfortunately, watson no longer makes our medication. Read thru n you'll see what happened with Watson pharmaceuticals. It'll explain why and the details.

Theyll tell you that, but there are back up supplies to be found...:) As I said, you have to call Each CVS around you and talk to the actual pharmacist.
When I told mine that of my bad side effects from the new generic, vomiting, etc., , she said she can order it.

The clerk won't tell you this. Find a CVS in a little town near you or one with a pharmacist over 50. They're the most helpful.

Many of us have called the company directly...they were purchased by another and r now using the new co.'s meds n r no longer making what we're use to taking. Its been a long time comin from what I've read when searching the web. There is no doubt in my mind the co. stopped making them. Read through the pages...you'll see

Yes according to Watson/Actavis they don't make the Watson pill at all anymore. If thier is tock left, that is possible but I would want to get used to some new pill anyway instead of pining for one last Watson prescription. Jen, my suspicion is that the Watson pills were probably stronger than other manufacturers and became too desirable on the street. And I know that many people were overdosing and dying and the lobby groups probably got involved.

I am wholly scared of the future of Pain Mgmt in the US. Things got crazy in the 2000's and the Pharm companies sales were huge. Now the Mommy groups are coming out against this. You would think the Pharma companies would fight back as they stand to lose money. There were too many rogue docotors and driggies who have ruined this whole process. It bs. As for me, I'm on the Roxicodone. It works just ok. It makes my heart skip and just takes some of the pain away. Going back to Percocet but not til June so need to figure out my manu. Thinking Endocet but may try Mallincrap if you guys say it works. Thanks

Watson doesnt make it anymore according to Watson. Unless they are lying. Any back orders would beshort term. I Think too many people OD on them and the lobby groups got involved.
I am taking the Roxicet and it works ok. Not great but ok. Makes my heart skip and only takes away some of the pain. Prolly going back to Percocet in June. May try Endocet or Mallincroft. How is everyone else doing?
