Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 13)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

The Lisa's are confusing? Especially when u both post and they appear one after the other and say similar things....I read Lisa feels great on her meds but one post on top of the other and both are talking about different meds? Am I the only one who is confused? Can either of u use ur last initial in ur name so we can distinguish one from the other? Please..
Martin, im not part of a pain group. Was just wondering cause I dont recall seeing any in search results ...no biggie. Im now wonderingabout this eercocets...I recall someone saying they didnt work for them further back in the posts?

I will use Lisa M. I noticed another Lisa is posting also. I am the Lisa that was on Watson for about four years and now I'm taking endocet which I just started today. I made the post above for Lola just letting her know how sensitive I was to medications before I started percocet. But some of the other posts are the other Lisa. It is confusing. Lola I took a 2nd half. It feels exactly like watson. Keep you posted.

I have a really good idea everyone. Did anyone contact walgreens pharmacy at corporate level? I will write a professional letter telling them how they are losing patients by not offering another quality generic. If they google it they will see everyone is looking elsewhere and changing pharmacies. If we all go to corporate maybe we can get them to offer one of these better generic brands? If they get a lot of complaints and I specify it's basically forcing us to look elsewhere maybe they will start offering a better brand?

Yes, this bottle of Mallinckrodt is not that great for me. I stopped the Lidocaine patch, because I started to have the side effect of exacerbating the pain. I thought it was my imagination, but I tried doing without the patch, and the pain was a lot less. I am now back on the tens unit, and it is great! I felt so much relief last night because of using the tens. I'll have to get mine going tho, because I'm using my husbands. If the Mallinckrodt gets better as the month goes on, I will just stick with them. I think it might be a good idea, to let my body get used to something. I hope everyone is finding some type of pain relief today. Take care.

Hi, that is a very good idea and it sure can't hurt. I am going to do the same thing and see what happens. My Walgreens keep telling me they can't order the roxicet and that they did put an order in and it came back that it was unavailable. I can't get another rx re-filled now until April 8, so I am still stuck. As I posted before the brand name percocet are total crap - now I do take the 5/325 and I see most of you take the 10/325 so maybe there is a difference I don't know. Either way I am frusterated and I am finally starting to come out of that severe deep dark depression I had where I literally have been crying every day. I just all of a sudden have a meltdown and it comes in waves. I know that is a sign of withdrawals. I have to find something this next time or I don't know what i will do. Watson where art thou?

Hi Lisa M, it sounds like this one might be the med that will actually work without side effects. I was happy to read your other posts that maybe there is hope for me too since you have said so far it is working well for you. Can I ask you a question about how you feel on it as far as it working? When you take it do you feel a bit of a euphoria and within 20 minutes you can actually kinda feel your pain subsiding? I am asking because that is the way I felt on the Watsons. The euphoria did not last but a few minutes but then I felt more relaxed and all of a sudden the pain was just about gone AND the best part of the watsons for me anyway, was it didn't make me fall asleep and be on the couch all weekend but yet not anxious or jittery. Is this kinda what you are experiencing? I am so paranoid about getting my rx re-filled in a little over a week I just want to get a better idea of how it's working for you. But by what you have mentioned it does seem it maybe a winner and the closest to watson as any of us are ever going to get and have pain relief without all this horrible side effects. Thanks in advance. Hope everyone is finding some kind of relief this weekend.

EXACTLY,!!! I've had the same issues! How do these drug companies keep getting away with this crap?? I HATE GENERIC MEDS.!! ALL OF THEM.! And since the brand names' brand costs an arm & a leg..... Only the rich, can afford them! I think our stupid governments have something to do with it.... Probably allowing facilities to give us all placebos!!

Hi Lisa M.

I did contact Walgreen's through their internet contact number. I don't know if it was the corporate number, but they seemed very unconcerned! I was also told by my local pharmacy, "People will get used to it and be ok" So you see the level of concern for pain patients. Only someone who has been in real pain can understand how it feels. Doctors aren't even giving new patients Oxycodone most of the time, they are pushing people on Gabapentin. I spoke with someone today, and that is what she has. So I said that to say, I am happy to have some pain relief, it's just really nice when it actually works!

Hi Lola, that is exactly what happened. You explained it exactly. I felt it kick in within 15 to 20 minutes. I did not get sleepy at all. No headaches. No jitters. I felt completely normal. Now remember I only took half and mine are pale yellow. I would hope the dye won't make a difference for you. I usually don't do well with dye but they are very pale which tells me they use very little. You almost can't tell they aren't white unless you really look. But the dye in yours will differ I think. Also when I post on here it has the time wrong. Not sure why. I really feel these are worth a try for you. I feel like I'm taking watson. I only worry that you could react to the dye. Absolutely no anxiety. I feel just like I did on watson. They aren't to strong or anything either. I am so glad I tried these first. Did you find any places that have them? If you have a good relationship with your doctor, you can ask them to give you just a week to start as a trial. Like I said the ones I have you can't even tell they are yellow unless you really look. They are pale in color. This is the best brand I have tried yet. I just have to make sure I can keep getting this brand. I am going to have to have my doctor call the company.

My last post above to Lola should of been Lisa M. Sorry. I left that out. So you all know who I am.

After about 15 to 20 minutes, you feel the euphoria, then it kicks in and your relaxed. What I love most is the no anxiety, no trouble breathing, they are not to strong. No headaches or nervousness. Honestly I feel like I am taking watson. They feel exactly the same to me. These are by far the best brand for me. I took one when I woke up and I feel great. I am so happy but scared at the same time that they won't have them next time so I am going to ask my doctor to call them for me and maybe she can talk to a rep and find out who has them. I am also going to write a professional letter to walgreens at how awful it is for us to have to call around finding a different brand when we clearly take these for pain and why can't they order us brands we can tolerate. I will not try any other brands, this is the one for me. I can't take the chance of having anxiety, I don't like that feeling from a pill. I just hope your ok with the blue dye. I hope everyone is finding relief. Martin, I think you would be very happy with these if comparing to watson. They feel exactly the same.

Lola, these are amazing. That is all I can say! I feel better these last 2 days then I have in a month. Not 1 side effect and pain relief just like watson. No ups and downs like the malinckrodt and no anxiety or stomach issues and no heartburn. I feel like I am taking watson. These work the exact same way they did. I am just worried about the blue dye for you, because like I said, mine almost look white. I do think this is going to work for you but the dye is the only thing that concerns me because I have the 10/325 and you have the 5/325.

Hi Angela, Lisa M. posted that the endocet is working very well for her. Do you take the 10/325 or the 5/325? She takes the 10/325 and said since I take the 5/325 that the blue dye might bother me. The ones she has are a light yellow color. It sounds like they are very close to Watson. I may have to look into the endocets too, however, I can't do anything until my next rx re-fill on April 8. I am running out of options if this one doesn't work for me. Let us know which one you decide on and any information/input you can give all of us I know it will be appreciated. thanks

well you are not alone..I too have been on Watson's 5-325 oxycodone for a few years with no problems and it was a fairly good solution for my pain management. I did not notice the script had changed from Watson to Actavis until about 1 1/2 month into my second script...ugh my anxiety went through the roof, my doc upped my Xanax, I'm barely sleeping ,so irritated, my heartburn is getting worse, no appetite,Terrible occular migraines. I have missed so much work in the past month. I finally figured out it was the oxycodone from Actavis! Walgreens is not concerned, they don't want to carry pain meds. I'll be checking elsewhere for different manufacturers. I'M SO THANKFUL FOR FINDING THIS POST ...I knew something was wrong. Oh and after speaking with my PMD today I tried to get the Brand name Percocet-- $803.00...a month. Walgreen's pharmacist shrugged me off and I have been with them for years!

I am taking endocet 10/325. Absolutely no side effects at all. I feel like I'm taking Watsons. I heard they are hard to find. More mom and pop pharmacies have them. That's where I got mine.

My friend is also on endocet. She changed to walgreens but didn't like the watson so she went back to her old pharmacy. She said sometimes she felt like the watson didn't work as well and wasn't as consistent. She has zero side effects also. She's very sensitive. But she is lucky her pharmacy only carries endocet because of the success rate with it.

Hi Alice, glad you found this thread and yes, you sure are not alone with this bad Actavis it has made SO many sick. I will not take another pill. After only a few pills I became extremely sick as others on this blog will tell you the same happened to them. Lisa M. says generic endocet is helping her. She takes the 10/325 however. The 5/325 are blue pills and I have already tried brand name percocet. My insurance paid for most of it and it only cost me $100.00 but it was awful and gave me many side effects - maybe because the brand percocet 5/325 is a blue pill and sometimes the dye can bother people who are sensitive such as myself. I am stuck with basically nothing to take but OTC meds now until April 8 and will have to do pharmacy shopping. The walgreens I use ordered Endocet for someone else months ago but they never came back to have it filled so it is still sitting on the shelf. I may go with that one - just paranoid right now since getting Actavis one month and then the brand name the next month and still in severe pain and days of depression due to having to be in withdrawals and let me say at least for me - these withdrawals don't go away in 7 days like they say - maybe the physical part is gone but the mental is there for sure. I wouldn't take anymore of that Actavis sounds like you are having alot of the bad side effects and no pain relief - this is just my opinion but it's not worth it to be sick all day and be in bed because of a bad medicine.

Hi Angela, did you get your rx re-filled yesterday? I was wondering what you ended up going with and how it is working for you now? Let us know how you feel and how you are doing. Thanks. Hope you have a pain free day
