Want Original Orange Suboxone Pills

They now have generic Suboxone pills, but I do not want the generic pills. Am I going to still be able to purchase the original Suboxone orange octagon shaped "original non generic" pills when I get my prescription filled? My pharmacy has the new generics in, but I do not want generic Suboxone. I want the original ones!

My pharmacist told me the orange pills are going to be no longer available. Just the strips.

Hi, Chrissy! I understand your concern, some people do have problems with generic medications.

To avoid getting a generic, you need to ask your doctor to write the prescription as 'brand medically necessary' or to not check the substitutions permitted box, to sign on that line, or whatever one of the various methods your state uses.

If that's not done, it is normal for your pharmacy to give you a generic, unless your paying cash and request otherwise. But most insurance programs require them to provide a generic, unless the doctor specifies that it is unacceptable.
