Help!! I have been taking vit B supplements but the hematologist said my body can't metabolize regular supplements b/c I have one strand of dna with MTHFR mutation. He said I need Foltx b/c my body can metabolize that type of vit B. What is the difference? it is expensive?! ## From what I've researched, Foltx reportedly contains the following B vitamins: Folacin + Cyanocobalamin + Pyridoxine In terms of differences: - Folacin is just another name for folic acid / folate / vitamin B9 - Cyanocobalamin is actually a cheaper synthetic inactive version of vitamin B12 made in a laboratory. By comparison, Hydroxocobalamin is another inactive form of B12, and Methylcobalamin is the only naturally occurring biologically active version of B12. - Pyridoxine is just another name for vitamin...

What is this pill? It's large (looks almost like a vitamin in shape and size), "S" on one side, and "P" and "N" on other side with a score line down the middle. Kind of bright orange color. ## Hello, Jane! How are you? Since the imprint is rather obscure, I'm not 100% sure, but I think this might be a prenatal vitamin. I do remember finding one a couple years ago that used the P N on one side, but I'm drawing a blank as to whether or not it had an S on it. Does anyone else recognize this tablet? But that would also explain the size and bright color. The FDA notes that prenatal vitamins may cause nausea in some people that take them, due to their potency. ## Thank you for answering. However, that is not really a possibility with this person. Well, ther...

How long after I stop taking choline inositol will it take for the medicine to get out of my system and the side effects to go away? ## Hello, John! How are you? The FDA classifies these as supplements, not actual mediations, so the data on that hasn't been studied. How long were you taking it? What types of side effects did you experience? Sometimes, it may cause some facial flushing, nausea, loss of appetite and body odor. Did your doctor tell you to take it?

Anthem pathway is not covering Folbic. What can I get instead? ## Hello, Meatbe! How are you? Folbic is just a potent multivitamin, there are various others available, so you should just ask your doctor to prescribe an alternative that your insurance will cover, or that is available as a generic. The FDA information shows that some people experience nausea, after taking this, due to how potent they are. Is there anything else I can help with?

white powder inside. These were found in a vitamin d3 soft gel bottle wrapped in an ace bandage in a gym bag...I suspect a steroid?? Oral?? ## Hi Paige, When you find things like this at the gym or inside of a gym bag I think steroids are almost always going to be a prime suspect, but without having a marking or imprint of some kind, this is really anyone's best guess. US prescription drugs all carry imprints, so we can definitely rule that out. This leaves any illicit, foreign, or dietary supplements as the next clue. I for one would assume "illicit" since why else would you stick a capsule in tin foil and put it inside of a vitamin D bottle? It only makes sense from our perspective that someone trying to hide/conceal something illegal (like steroids) would bother to do suc...

want to be pregnant, can I use eviol ## Hello, Portable! How are you? The FDA classifies Evion as a nutritional supplement, it contains Vitamin E. Thus, while there is no real harm in taking it, as long as your doctor approves, it will not increase your chances of getting pregnant. Some people also experience nausea, after taking it. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 17 year old and I have many gray hairs please tell me how to.stop the spread of gray hairs ## @Niranjan, I do think gray hair is a bit unusual at that age, but if you consider yourself to be an otherwise healthy individual, I'd be curious to find out whether its presence could simply be a naturally occurring genetic trait? One thing I would encourage you to do though is to have blood work done in order to check for any important nutrient deficiencies (specifically B vitamins). According to an article I found online, if you don't obtain enough vitamin B5 and B6 through your diet, your hair can actually lose its natural color. Biotin deficiency has also been linked to premature graying hair. That said, I hope you can use this information to your benefit! Keep us posted on any...

My pharmacist tells me that Strovite is a simple vitamin; but I've always been prescribed Vita-s-forte. He then informed me that that was the generic. And the Strovite is the non-generic of the same product. Is this true? ## Yes, they are both multivitamin/mineral supplements that contain the same essential nutrients, so they can be used interchangeably. ## I recently had gastric sleeve surgery so I cannot swallow large pills. Can I cut the Strovite pill in half without compromising its effectiveness?

I'm sorry that you're having trouble finding your prescription. Have you tried asking your regular pharmacy if they can order it in for you? This isn't a controlled substance, so they should be able to do so. My pharmacy doesn't usually carry one of my medications, but they ordered it in for me and reorder each month, to have a supply for me, though I'm their only regular customer that takes it. Small round peach /pink pill with only a line in the middle ?? What could it be ## Hi Junebug, Without an imprint I initially thought this would be like finding a needle in a haystack, BUT I did come across a pill that fits your description by the name of "I-Vite oral". Apparently it's some sort of pharmaceutical multivitamin containing vitamin A, C, and E, along with lutein and other minerals. Running an image search for "I-Vite tablets" on your search engine should yield results with photographs of the pill itself. They described it as an oval peach, scored tablet, but I'm not sure about its approximate size. Can you please post back and let me know if this tablet looks familiar?
