What is Vitamin D2 / Ergocalciferol (50,000 IU) used for? My dr has put me on it.

I have recently developed a spotty blistery itching rash on different parts of my body, stomach, leg and arm. The only thing that has changed is I just started taking Vitamin D2 1.25 mg / 50,000 IU. Could this be a reaction to it?

My mother started taking this drug out of no where. She got this drug at the end of 2013 and just started using it now. Should I be concerned?

Hi gary777 did you have any side effects when taking vitamin d2 (1.25MG) I was recently prescribed the same dosage of vitamin d2 and I have read all the bad comments and I’m kinda scared to take them

Hi Kerri just read your post, sorry I'm so late, hope you are ok ! I'm in Australia just had ASTRAZenic vaccine after 2nd shot felt really run down nausea, I already have COPD, so I felt pretty bad anyway had a blood test done I was diagnosed with bit D deficient ( 24) my dr has me on supplement capsules 4 a day 1000iu each capsule, IV now got a skin rash on arms, that's ok do you think I'm doing the right thing? 4 a day? I'm scared I'm going to catch something now my vit D is so low, also do you have any idea how long before my levels improve I'm 68yrs old thank you hope this reaches you.

It didn't say when to take it. Just once a week, and got four pills.

Yeah I take the 50,000 of d2 one capsule weekly because of my low blood levels of vitamin d. It is a normal dose for people with deficiencies ans some other medical problems. I've been on it for many years and it just keeps my levels in a good range.
