Vitamin D2 Mg 50 000 Unit Taken Daily
UpdatedIs it safe for me to take daily , my doctor wants me to take it for 4 months

In my opinion 50,000 a day (from dietary supplements) is way too much. My girlfriend was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency also as she lives in rainy Portland, Oregon. Her doctor suggested 50,000 IU per "week" for a certain number of weeks in order to reverse her deficiency. I know everyone is different, but 50,000 a day seems like a long shot from supplements alone and should probably be tapered down to a normal dose range after the 4 month period is up so it doesn't become toxic in your system (as Vitamin D2 is synthetic). I personally take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 per 'day' as that is what I've read in many health magazines to be a healthy dose. If you are able to, I would strongly suggest taking Vitamin D3 instead of D2. D3 is the closest thing you can get to actually being in the sun.
The discussion thread in the link below is referring to the same topic, so hopefully you can find some more useful information in there:

Hope this helps!
Is vitamin D deficiency in any way connected to poor sexual performance, ie low sex drive, poor erection, simply put ED?
I constantly feel feverish, partial heaviness at my left side of brain and general feeling of unwellness for yrs. Can a lack of vitamin D possibly be a culprit?
is it safe for me to take ,vit.D2 50,000 .
my doctor wants me to take one capsule weecly .
Nothing has changed after treatment the first time and the same perscription has been given again one capsule per week for four weeks
You almost certainly misunderstood your doctor's instructions. You were almost certainly given a prescription for 50,000 IU"s a WEEK for 4 months. If you check your pill bottle, you probably only have 16 pills in the bottle because of this.
If your prescription does say 'every day' and not 'once a week', please check back with your doctor as he almost certainly made a mistake. Also, be sure to see my page on why you should actually question whether you should take that prescription. It is the wrong KIND of Vitamin D, and the preferred form of vitamin D is the 'over the counter' form. http://www.easy-immune-health.com/Vitamin-D3.html
Just because it's a prescription doesn't mean that it's better than what you can buy at the store. In this case, it's not.
