Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 7) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
#619 missvisineLR,
That's true. I didn't even think about how the makers of Afrin already use oxymetazoline for their nasal spray. It probably wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to create oxymetazoline eye drops too.
I'm going to write the makers of Afrin. We really have to keep applying the pressure, folks!
I will have to write them too! :) I want my eyedrops back!!
This Does Work,
Pretty sure it does work, but is it safe? That is the question.
I was talking to a friend of mine about this blog. I hadn't questioned it before, but she found it hard to believe that some of the posters here are mixing these ingredients themselves and putting them into their eyes without first checking with an eye care professional.
After my limited research about sterilization, I just couldn't do it. The thought of a bacteria entering my eye and causing me to go blind is too scary to think about. I really hope those of you daring to do it will not regret it later on. Seriously.
I agree with you Rhonda I do know my eye Dr told me because I had used Visine LR for so many years it may take me up to a yr to "withdraw" from it she also told me I had calcium deposits from it under my eyelids thats what oxymetazoline does I'm wondering if thats why they discontinued it anyway I'm afraid to put nose spray in my eyes
May I ask how long you were using the Visine LR? I have been using it probably 13 years.....it will probably take me forever to withdraw from it.
He's a scammer. Trust me. I was the one to give him the idea to sell on eBay. When I first contacted him, he said he had Visine LR in stock. This was his response to me:
HI there
Yes i do have Visine LR in stock. How many are you after?
Regards
- "best deal ever xxx"
Then I asked him to double check and read me the active ingredient, etc. to confirm.
So he replied:
Dear jxxxxxx,
Hi there
Sorry after closely looking at my stock, i havent got the Visine LR, it was discontinued as well.
Regards
- "best deal ever xxx"
He then devised a strategy to sell the Indonesian equivalent Cendon on eBay. And yet, despite all of my assistance, he wouldn't sell me any at a discount, which I found to be disingenuous, since I was the one who gave him the whole background of the shortage in the U.S. and the pent up demand.
Please do not deal with him as he cannot be trusted.
Yes! Please let us know if you get any responses. :) Thanks for writing the letters!
I used Ocu-clear for many years and they discontinued it. A very nice associate at Ocu-clear told me to try Visine LR as it has the same active ingredient, which I did.
When I first started using VLR I personally didn't think that it worked as well as Ocu-clear, but it was better than anything else on the market. I'm wondering if we shouldn't start putting the pressure on Ocu-clear to bring back their eyedrops seeing as Visine could care less about their dedicated customers? Truly it worked better than Visine LR and it was less expensive too. Maybe all this pleading should be directed to Ocu-clear, at this point. I would love Visine to regret ever taking our blessed product and dragging their feet so that they lose out...they deserve it!!!!
Hi Rhonda,
I would have to agree. Back ~ 2010 when they pulled it off the market you couldn't get a straight answer from consumer care about what happened. Then voila, it shows up with new packaging. When I spoke with what seemed to be a knowledgeable individual, it was mentioned that the problem revolves around the pharmaceutical company that produces the oxymetazoline. That's about as far as I can take it. People just need to keep calling Visine consumer care and keep bugging them about the issue.
Hello everyone,
I received a reply from CVS/pharmacy. In part, it reads:
"... I want to assure you that I have forwarded your suggestion to the appropriate department for further review. We appreciate you taking the time to suggest that we create a safe, inexpensive oxymetazoline eye drop. The items that we sell in our stores are often based on customer feedback.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for being a loyal CVS/pharmacy customer.
Sincerely,
Kristen

So very pleased to receive another letter. At least, I know "someone" read my letter to them.
I sure wish the eye drops were available at CVS. We have them all over our area and it would be so convenient.
I emptied the afrin bottle in a cup took a syringe and sucked up all the afrin back up to measure how much water to put back to make it 50-50. Then put all of it back in the nose spray bottle, works great also it makes a lot. Also alittle story got into my beautiful wifes car the other day, looking for something in her car come across one beautiful bottle of Visine LR. What a pleasure it was to get that blessing of my only eye drops that did work for me.
I used Visine LR for years and Occuclear before that both containing oxymetazoline. I was very upset when Visine LR was discontinued and have been trying to get someone like CVS or Amazon to bring in an equivalent from South Africa known as Allergex. So far, no luck. After much searching, I found a product that is working! Bausch & Lomb Advanced Eye Relief, Redness Maximum Relief. Make sure you get the right one, it's the maximum with 0.03% Naphazoline Hydrocloride. Other products contain less than 0.03% and they are not as effective.
Yesterday, I received a letter from Bayer HealthCare, thanking me for my request that they produce oxymetazoline eye drops. They also included a very nice coupon booklet that I can certainly use.
At least Bayer knows our desires and, hopefully, they will seriously consider them.
I don't think it's J & J selling them its private companies that bought up a bunch to sell it happened a few years ago too
I just found 5 bottles of VLR at an older (kinda rundown) Shop 'n Save so I bought em all. I drove around to EVERY KIND OF STORE that sells eye care products until I found them. A local CVS still had the price tag and spot for the product but they still haven't refilled from when I bought them out a couple months ago and the lady never called me back about their availability.
I would recommend that you search EVERY store in your area until you find someone that hasn't run out of stock yet... and then buy them all! Otherwise I would try to buy one off of ebay before the price gougers run out of stock!
I'm hoping my reserve will last until they bring the product back!!!
I guess I was hoping Visine with Hydroblend was something new. It's not. It's on all the shelves.
I checked online and one review for it was poor. A former Visine LR user was very disappointed. She said Visine LR was the only Visine product that worked for her.
As I shared months ago, the only product that is working for me (not as well as Visine LR) is Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief.
I feel compelled to load up the cabinet for fear this will too become extinct. ;)
Yes indeed. Clear Eyes Maximum Redness works. Have to apply it more often though. I have bottles of it everywhere. All other products are useless.
People are...and more ! Seen folks paying over $100
Have inquired on Visine website twice with no response. Great customer service Visine, just ignore them!!
