Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 53) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Hi Fred- I actually like Allergex. Do they ship to US?
Dominick,
That is about $19.00 US dollars. Good Luck
I wouldn't be worried as long as you keep the top closed and stored within the proper temperature. I got Allergex a few months ago and it isn't as good as LR. Let us know how the others work.
Re: Dave (# 993)
Hi Dave, I have been using a 50/50 mix of nasal spray and distilled water which seems to work pretty good but just not sure how healthy it is for the eyes so looking for something else, will have to try some of the other products that have been mentioned earlier.
Yesterday early morning, I was going to Walmart and prepared to buy more B+L Max Redness Relief eye drops (the 2-pack). Since I was going out, I use my Lumify for clearer eyes. Well, only thing coming out of the bottle was the last bit of foam. I was out. Ugh! Luckily, I was able to get just a bit of the solution in each eye.
I had no idea I needed another bottle. This is my biggest complaint about Lumify. If I had been going on an interview, I'd be upset. It'd be nice if I could stock up on a few bottles at a time, but I can't. These days, I have to plan my spending down to my last penny. Thankfully, I had saved a $2-off coupon, but that is still $10, when I planned on spending less for the B+L. I still have one bottle of B+L, so I bought Lumify instead.
Over the past several months, I tried to estimate how much Lumify I had left. You just can't tell. I really wish the makers would put it in a clear bottle. I think they don't want to do that, because the amount in the bottle is so little. So, I'm looking through my posts here to see when I bought the Lumify, to somewhat estimate when I will need another one.
Re: Rhonda (# 1047)
I think there is a generic for Lumify but you need a prescription for it since it’s a higher strength or you could also get a compounding pharmacy to make the strength the regular strength if the generic is too strong
The generic name is Brimomidine and I use it every day and it works as well as Lumify but cheaper
It's now available online all over
i mentioned in an earlier post that i have tried bausch and lomb and it worked great and better then visine LR. i forgot to post that i tried the Bausch and lomb Opcon-A eye allergy relief version. it stings a little but it works and keeps my eyes white for atleast 8 hours. I have been using visine LR for 16 years and never thought i would find something else that works this great.
I found a local very legitimate "custom prescription" pharmacy that is willing to make oxymetazoline eye drops, equivalent to Visine LR. They can only serve customers in the states surrounding Pennsylvania (where they operate.) and would need a prescription to sell it to a customer. There should be other such pharmacies in other states. If you have an interest, please reply to this post and I will give you the contact information for this pharmacy.

I have tried mixing afrin spray (0.05 Oxymetalazone) with both distilled water and saline eye wash at 1:1 and 1:2 ratio (making 0.25 and 0.13). Both seem to work well.
Hell All, I wanted to share that I tried the Bausch & Lomb drops and although they were refreshing and provided comfort when applied, they didn't whiten my eyes as much as I expected or needed and what whiteness it did provide, did not last long.
:(
With that said, I have been using 'Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief' since the Visine LR fiasco and have been very satsifed. I place a few drops into each eye in the morning, let dry, apply contact lens and my eyes remain in good shape throughout the course of the day and into the evening.
If you haven't tried the Clear Eyes product yet, please do so and share your experience.
Good luck!
How do you mix the two? do you add a drop of afrin and a drop of distilled water into a bottle? Help!!
As I was diagnose with rheumatoid arthritis, I want to try Collagena Medica pills, how much ia s bottle and where can I find the here in South Africa_Gauteng?
I just wanted to let you guys know that Johnson and Johnson are selling these Visine Long lasting on Amazon for highway robbery. This is a big reason that they aren't motivated to put them back on the shelves I am sure. It seems like this should be illegal. They get all of us needing their product and then stop distributing it to the stores so they can make 1000 times the profit. They should be sued!!
Has anyone diluted Afrin and used it ? Walmart generic Equate at $1.77 has oxymetazoline (active ingredient) and needs concentration to be reduced by half (easy enough with sterile water). Has anyone used it and what is your opinion ? I have about 3 weeks of Visine LR left and am ready to "mix" and try.....just wanted opinions ! Thanks!
Having been a long-time user of Visine LR as the only product that worked, I was sorry to see it go.
A replacement product I found to be effective is Opcon-A, by Bausch + Lomb. Active ingredients are Naphazoline HCI (0.02675%) - Redness Reliever, Pheniramine maleate (0.315%) - Antihistamine.
Walmart sells the same product, same ingredients under the Equate brand, Eye Allergy Relief.
There seems to be a lot of LR available online right now pretty cheap! I just grabbed 5 bottles to stock up while it's around.... Good luck to you guys!!!!!
Silly Boy...Are you under the impression that you will find LR's that have not expired yet? I'm considering the fact that I paid $300 for the last bottle that I purchased so I find $90 extremely inexpensive as I'm not a cheapskate!!! ;-) Good luck putting afrin in your eyes!
Just a thought. Visine LR has been so effective at taking care of red eye problems and I'm sure it is being use by drug and alcohol users to mask the effects of using their drug of choice. I think the government has had some influence on Johnson & Johnson making this decision. Their contribution to political parties has been about 65% to Democrats and the rest to others. It would be interesting if some reporter would pick up on this story and check it out. I don't have the data or resources to back up my suspicion.
Hello. I tried what another person posted about getting Afrin Original nasal spray and diluting it to half the dose of Visine LR. It has the same chemical Oxymetazoline HCI AT 0.25% AND YOU mix it with distilled/purified water or saline in your old Visine bottle. And Afrin has no warning label that it's harmful to your eyes. Its Amazing the same chemical as the Visuine LR which has 0.025%. I got 3 1oz bottles(like getting 6 Visine LR) bottles for $7 at Costco. i mixed it with water 50%/50% of each. It works!
