Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 47)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Thanks for the info Christina! I guess our search for a replacement continues!
Dominick,
That is about $19.00 US dollars. Good Luck
I haven't been here for a little while. Today, I sent an email to QVC, asking them what their models, spokespeople, etc use to whiten their eyes when they are on TV. They ARE using something, because when makeup artists apply makeup to the models, they do closeups and their eyes are "super bright." In magazines, you can't be sure the eyes are really white because they photoshop everything.
I am still plodding along with my B+L Advanced Eye Relief eye drops. However, I cannot put mascara on my entire lashes; I have to only lightly apply it to the very tips. If I use mascara on my entire lashes, a bit gets in my eyes and they get fiery red. With Visine LR, this was never a problem.
As a result, I now generally look like I'm not wearing mascara. I use just enough to separate my lashes and make me look like I at least have eyelashes. But I would still like to be able to wear more mascara to dramatize my eyes at times.
With Visine LR, this was never a problem for me.
HI all. The following is the response I received in my inbox from QVC:
"Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the type of makeup the models are wearing on air. We apologize for any disappointent.
It has been a pleasure assisting you. Thank you for shopping with QVC!"
I think I will need to directly contact the manufacturers who appear on QVC.
I understand what many of you have said/are saying. I don't touch anything "Clear Eyes." It's a shame to give a product that name and have it be a complete farce!
Rhonda,
Thank you for your continued efforts!
It is quite discouraging that there really isn't a suitable alternative to Visine LR in the United States unless you are willing to "mix" your own with Afrin nasal spray and artificial tears.
For those of you using products from outside of the United States, is the shipping to you going OK?
Thank you all for sharing information and advice.
You're welcome, Christina!
I'm going to continue coming to this website from time to time, because I know that if/when a really good eye drops appears on the scene again, the folks here will find it and post about it.
I actually receive a notification when there is a new message in this group- and each time I think.... oh wow.. this is it! I hope someone has good news and found something we can buy without selling your first born! lol ok- dramatic, but you get the point. :)
I have ordered and received Oxylin, Zoamet & Allergex. All three boxes state that the product should be used within 30 days of unsealing it. This was not the case with Visine LR. Should I be concerned if I use these products beyond 30 days?
I wouldn't be worried as long as you keep the top closed and stored within the proper temperature. I got Allergex a few months ago and it isn't as good as LR. Let us know how the others work.
Having been a long-time user of Visine LR as the only product that worked, I was sorry to see it go.
A replacement product I found to be effective is Opcon-A, by Bausch + Lomb. Active ingredients are Naphazoline HCI (0.02675%) - Redness Reliever, Pheniramine maleate (0.315%) - Antihistamine.
Walmart sells the same product, same ingredients under the Equate brand, Eye Allergy Relief.
Followup-
I tried both Zoamet and Allergex and found both to be comparable to Visine LR. The Zoamet I bought was about the same price ($30+) but contained only 5ml vs. 15 ml. for the Allergex.
I am holding off on opening the Oligin bottle until later.
Where did you purchase Zoamet and Oligin? Another user mentioned Allergex wasn't as good, so I think I will order those two to start. Thanks.
Greg,
You can find about 4 different brands online. Just search under Visine LR and they all pop up. Other countries must know eye drops with oxymetazoline is in high demand for people in US and Canada since Visine stopped producing it. Use a pre-paid credit card or paypal for payment to protect against fraud; although I didn't have an issue. Good luck.
Previously, I meant to write Oxylin, but mistakenly typed Oligin.
Prefrin by Allergan was recommended to me. It does not contain the main ingredient found in Visine LR, Zoamet, etc. It was not as effective, but could possibly help as a back-up.
There seems to be a lot of LR available online right now pretty cheap! I just grabbed 5 bottles to stock up while it's around.... Good luck to you guys!!!!!
Why would you write a bold face lie? The only LR's left are $90 or above and have passed their expiration date. Stop with the BS.
Silly Boy...Are you under the impression that you will find LR's that have not expired yet? I'm considering the fact that I paid $300 for the last bottle that I purchased so I find $90 extremely inexpensive as I'm not a cheapskate!!! ;-) Good luck putting afrin in your eyes!
$90 is not cheap! $300 is a bit foolish. No? Especially when there are 3 eye products (not expired) that can be purchased for about $35 each with the same main ingredient as Visine LR.
